Honoured to see you play my map! I definitely bought this game because of this channel so this was a very fun experience. Also, fun fact: it's based off an actual houseplan for a large American suburban residence.
This was a very realistic map and it doesn't surprise me that it was based on a real houseplan. However, I kept getting annoyed at the in-swinging wardrobe door in the north section, it drove me nuts! It's a shame the doors don't seem to be affected by furniture or shelves, otherwise the game looks great. Again, good job with the map.
One of the interesting things about looking at tactics is how multi-variate the problem is. Did the DMR compromise help or hurt? Drew a number of guys onto a set position, meaning they weren't in the building. You also think about things that aren't options in the game. If you had ladders, would you prefer to scale the walls on the blindside. Another good one @Controlled Pairs Gaming. I agree you got screwed by the suppression mechanics, two Rangers at that distance...
Dude.. that was a rough one. Many hard angles to work while still providing any measure of security. Bravo clearing most of it from outside. Work smarter, not harder!
Loving the content! In hindsight, not everyone was on "silenced" so your support forced fired on sight =/, but live and learn. Would be great to see later down the line, when they add more new mechanics, for you to go back and 3 star levels that you've forgotten most of the gameplay.
I love playing these custom maps when I see you upload, taking my approach and then seeing how you have done it. Its a great way of engaging in the content
Great stuff! I really enjoyed your commentary and presentation. Your methodology and execution was sound. Its always a treat to watch someone who knows what they are doing. Shame about the casualties, but as most people know, no plan survives contact with the enemy, and casualties are inevitable even if everything is done correctly.
Howdy Pairs, I’m a newer sub to the channel and I’ve gotta say it’s some of the best entertainment/visual education content there is on UA-cam. I was wondering if you’ve ever played War Game: Red Dragon or any of the other games in the series. It’s a lot like Combat Mission: Shock Force 2 except in real time and set elsewhere. I feel like it could be a good resource to talk about air-ground cooperation as well as the larger combined arms doctrine that’s harder to teach with smaller element/operations sizes. Thanks for the excellent content! Keep it up!
I've seen it and I appreciate what it is and what it try's to achieve. I don't know that the point and click nature of most RTS games go far enough as simulations. I'll take a look at it all the same. Certainly looks fun if nothing else! Thanks for your support.
awesome video. Love the slower paced vids where you explain your thought process, it brings a lot of clarity to a hectic situation with so many different ways of approach. Would you like to see a command-fire mechanic in DK? Where you can order a soldier to fire off a burst of shots without an enemy in direct sight. I think situations like at 26:04 when you're forced to 1-man clear a small room, you could opt to fire thru that shower curtain to preemptively kill the baddie if he's hiding there
Love the video as always. Bacon was such a beast around 24m, and I think I probably would have thrown a flashbang at the white explosive tank to make a nice breach and just cleared from right to left.
I've got this one downloaded, plus like 50-60 others I have to play. But I'm having too much fun making my own maps & figuring out that map editor. I'll get to it eventually... just not quite yet lol
Picked up Combat Mission SF2 cause of you. Would love to see more small unit moves in urban environments. My doctrine is so gamey I just put everyone in buildings and I'm sure I'm doing it wrong. Last mission my entire force ran out of 5.56 and 9mm for their sidearms. I had to surrender because no one had any ammo left.
The way I like to tackle this map. 4x 2 man teams. 1st team pushes to the wall from the insert vehicles and places a wall charge. The 2nd team pushes up to the foot gate and places a slap. 3rd & 4th team's push to the car gate and places a slap on the left door of the right gate. They all go off at once, along with 2nd team putting a flash over into the large open courtyard. Pie off the corners starting with 1st team to establish dominance on the left side of the structure and onto the windows across the face. 2nd team does much the same but they are covering the large front door and the smaller windows to its right. 3rd and 4th teams blow open the left door of the right gate and enter. 3rd team goes left to help clear the courtyard and cover the main front door, while 4th team moves right to cover the side of the house. 4th team flashes the back of the garage and pushes up to provide security against targets leaving the back of the house & securing the rear garage/shed. Once the site is dominated you are going up against prepared defenders so it gets a lot more dangerous. 3rd team moves across the face of the building to the master bedroom window, deals with anyone inside and enters. 4th team move on the kitchen area and deals with anyone inside. 4th team moves into cross coverage and watches the garage hallway and the living room set-up. 3rd team come out from the bedroom and begin clearing the northern rooms. If hostage is not found, use the remaining teams to wall charge the garage and door (preferably the right most to create a corner-fed room). liberal use of flashes in that tight area between the garage and house.
Awesome video! Will you be doing any Crunch Element videos on the channel in the near future? Feels like that sort of game would be great on the channel!
I wonder if it's feasible to plan the entire mission ahead and then just press play and have your guys clear it. I used to do it in old Rainbow 6 games, but was really struggling to in Door Kickers 1.
Just depends on the mission, if we assessed a likely VBIED threat vs the risk of lingering outside vs the risk of making immediate entry with surprise. There is rarely a right answer, just varying degrees of wrong ones.
@@alessandrozucchelli4090 Yeah, better to have them confused and firing than aiming and firing. Hell, you can probably use smoke to ferret out enemy positions just by making them think you're moving behind the obscuration.
Their stats are a lot worse than what the Rangers have. Insurgents don't have armor, and except for private security and foreign advisors, almost no crit chance (accuracy, range and damage are also worse, but not by that much). Still, there are usually so many enemies that a few are bound to get lucky.
In my opinion, the insurgents should be slightly better than currently, but forces on both sides should be similar. Not the current quality vs quantity. Albeit, it would be less conducive to heroic actions by a single ranger. Which is important for gameplay.
OP? I don't think so, most of them got absolutely recked, and the two that got kills were in a good position/realy lucky. The first was behind cover (not great cover but still) fireing an MG in to a tight entrance, the ranger in the front had his gun down and the one in the back was throwing a bang, they shoud have both died but the poor guy in the front took like 12 shots before going down so the other one was able to get away. And the second, lucky insurgent survived a hit, then the rangers missed like two shots, then he supressed the first ranger and one shoted the other one, the first guy missed more shots and then he died. I don't think any other insurgent scored a hit and like half of them just got one shoted, they definitly aren't OP, but there is a lot of them, so as it has been said they can get lucky sometimes
I try to play the maps before watching the videos, I got a 2:50 time without even an injure and i skipped to se 8 mins with 3 losses, something went wrong lol

Assaulting the garage you could have blown up the gas tank to get yourself a massive breach.
IRL wouldn't you be worried about vehicle IEDs? It would suck to have your entire security team smoked by carbombs out front.
Just depends on the mission, if we assessed a likely VBIED threat vs the risk of lingering outside vs the risk of making immediate entry with surprise. There is rarely a right answer, just varying degrees of wrong ones.
how is smoke used in real life? if an enemy combatant sees smoke, don't they know something fishy is going on?
Well yes, that's how it works here too, why?
Better to have enemies spray randomly into the fog rather than them shooting the team
And if the enemy start to shoot randomly through the fog, you will know exactly where they are.
