how I make art fun... when I feel like giving up | tips for aspiring artists

- I have nearly given up so many times when it comes to art, as an aspiring artist it's so easy to fall into the spiral of comparison and feel like everything I'm doing isn't good enough, but that's just not true.
Last week I went through a little bit of overwhelm and found myself once again questioning everything, and after a little bit of a pep talk, time out and advice, I felt so much better. I feel like if I'm feeling this way, then surely others are too, so here's my little reset routine for when I'm feeling like I want to give up, I hope you enjoy it.

🖐️ Hi Sophy, how u doing?
This is a very in depth overview of your personal art journey and it really is interesting to hear how you manage day to day issues and the effects these have on your mood and of course on your creative ability. I really enjoyed listening in on your thoughts and opinions and the changes you have had to make in order to sustain your love of art and your creative nature.
Like you Sophy, I love to immerse myself in painting, sketching, and reading , as well as writing. I also like gardening and taking time out to enjoy the countryside too. Which also helps at times to reset my batteries, as it were.
I know you like reading and writing too. You are clearly driven to want to succeed in several areas of your creative endeavours including pottery, making dragons, crocheting among other things. Do you visit craft events and art museums, as these can be a real source of inspiration too and part of your relaxation programme, as we all need moments when its necessary to take time out. Its good for the soul as well as the mind.
But you already make full use of this when needed, as demonstrated often in your past video vlogs.
What is more, I really like that in the time I have known and communicated with you and listened to your story and your personal insights, experiences etc., Just how far you have come in the last two to three years. How much more positive you are in your outlook and your artwork has grown and developed too, as demonstrated by your sketches and your paintings and the development of your lovely website too. Also Sophy, i notice how you have begun to relax and be at ease with yourself, and that lovely smile youve developed also shows how you are feeling inside about yourself and your creative ability. Remember dear vlogger friend, that you are unique and what you do is unique. Noone does it quite like you. Everyone is different and this is what makes you and your artwork special.
Anyway, I am honour bound to say these things Sophy, because I have been an avid follower of your channel for a long time now, and I enjoy it. Also I am proud to own at least two pieces of your artwork to date. I am rambling now, but I just want to encourage you further in your journey to keep doing what you love and enjoy, and trust that the universe that sees you, showers you with love and affection.
Take care nowSophy, as always,
Much love snd kind regards.
xx❤😊👍🌹
Ah Paul thank you for your lovely comment as always! I've missed chatting with you, hope you're doing well? Love that you like to use gardening and time in the countryside to reset yourself, nature is so healing like that isn't it! I'd love to visit galleries and events more than I do if I'm honest, I think living in the countryside means you have to look for those kinds of pop up events more than if you lived in a city perhaps and I'm not very good at remembering to do that.. But I've just started working in London part time so I'm hoping that will inspire me to go visit some museums and galleries a bit more! I did go to a yarn/textiles fair recently which was full of stalls with people selling hand dyed yarns and patterns for all sorts of things and that got me quite inspired for future projects!
Thank you for your kind words about the last couple years, I really appreciate you saying that! I think it's easy to forget the progress we're making in the day to day so it's nice to hear it from others sometimes as a way to remind ourselves we're always growing. I find my older videos so cringey to watch back nowadays so I tend to avoid them haha! Something about watching yourself on camera is always a bit uncomfy hahaha. So glad my videos found you and you've stuck around all this time, it all doesn't go unnoticed and I've been so happy to have your support
@@sophy333 thank you for your lovely response, too. I have just this last week, taken up painting again after approx.2.5 months illness. Glad to say I am well now though. I must admit I have often thought about going to London to visit galleries there, but something always crops up to change plans, I expect you find that sometimes to. Anyway Sophy, thank you for being brave and sharing all those past videos etc. Glad your finding your inner strength to keep trying new things and good luck in your London venture.👍🖐️
I love your content !! Can you please tell me what camera and microphone you use? 🥹
Aww thank you so much I appreciate you saying that ❤️🩹 I use the mic on my phone a lot when I’m out and about, for voiceovers I use my audio-technica mic. And my camera is a Canon 250D, it’s a bit of a hybrid as I need it for taking photos of my work as well as filming 🫶🏻
@@sophy333thank you so much for your answer!! Does it mean that you record the picture with a camera and voice separately with your phone, and then you combine the two in editing? 👀
@@Ksienszycexactly that yeah!! ☺️
