Not many booktubers talk about reading slumps and getting back into them. I really appreciate it! I went years without reading too and only got back into it a couple years ago bc my new job allowed me to listen to books while working. Since then Iv consumed about 100 books, but actually taking the time to sit down and read is a struggle for me, so hearing you talk about going through a book in 1-2 months is really nice to know I don’t have to push myself to read and just get through a book, rather take my time to enjoy the experience
Oh my goodness you're on a roll!! Audio books are so good for that aren't they, I love listening to them while I paint or draw. Thank you sm for your sweet comment and yess I'd definitely recommend reading at your own pace, I think it's quite nice in a way and feels like you get to spend more time with the characters rather than rushing to finish, it's been a gamechanger for me x
When I saw the title my mind immiedietly went for "A little life" so I couldn't agree more, also I strongly recommend seeing the play! I love how actors portray the characters, especially Harold stole my heart
Hi Sophy. As you know, i am an avid follower of your video diaries. I love your your artwork and the self reflections, personal thoughts, opinions and recommendations that you have posited over time, including your thoughts on nature supported by beautiful photographic scenery around your locality. But what a wonderful suprise to hear you taking time out and talking about some of your favourite books. Great book reviews. I have not read any of the ones you recommend here though. I do love to read Irish folklore, stories like the Dan Brown series, as well as selective autobiographical works that I may find extemely inspiring. For me personally, I find that a good read is always determined by the first few sentences that somehow manages to grip the mind to the extent that one cannot easily put the book down or which is so enthralling that one cannot wait to get to the end to find out what transpires. This is another video skill you got under your artistic belt Sophy. Until next time. Keep well, keep safe and keep sharing your talents. ❤😊👍
Hey Paul, hope you're well! I totally agree with you there, there's nothing better than reading the first few sentences and just knowing you're going to enjoy the book and be gripped. Dan Brown is another one I've seen on my dad's bookshelf too so maybe I'll have to give one of his ones a go one day, I've got my eye on so many books my "want to read" list is so long haha! Thanks for your lovely comment as always, take care! x
Thy aching isn’t evolution’s fault. The proof the butterflies our bellies breed. In paintings, Tristan ebbed into Iseult; a couple takes a selfie at the beach. We are the diagrams of outstretched limbs, though never still enough for Time to sketch because a husband arm is bending in to save his one bride from her pirouette. Where did the blushing in our cheeks evolve? Survival’s not the reason that they blush. Some magic’s much too primal in ourselves- -what apes we were? the magic can debunk. So, Time is not adept at drawing us. No. That’s an aching blessing up to us
I'm so excited to continue reqding The Overstory! It's a chunkyyyy book so i feel kinda intimidated hahaha but yes i agree i know i will like this book by only the first chapter 'Root'
My heart belongs to poetry & non fiction. I am so picky with fiction stories. Wuthering heights ,or anything Bronte sisters, is my favourite. Tolkien obviously.
mmm yessss poetry is such a sweet one, I really want to try and read more classics as well, I've only read Little Women really so if you have any recommendations on where to start I'm all ears haha. I've been thinking maybe Emma as that seems like it might be less "heavy" xx
Really really love this style video from you. Also I completely thought you were like 20 haha, unless you meant you studied english lit' in school and not uni'.
