This version of A6 allroad uses Quattro Ultra system. Front and rear diffs are open. Gearing (dog clutch) in the rear is used for connecting the driveshaft with the diff. Electromechanical multiplate clutch-pack at front is responsible for torque transfer. Entire system was originally developed by Magna Powertrain, it consists of Flex4 coupling at front & Flex4 disconnect system (Flex4 Fast Reconnect + open diff) at rear.
Is the sum of what your stating in reference to Ryan talking about wheel spin and power being pushed 'actively'? I thought I noticed some wheel spin but not as bad as other systems. I may be biased, but as an Audi (semi-quatro [TT]) owner, I say these things have a pretty good system.
@@SlowRollaAE82 What I wanted to say is that left/right torque distribution is based on open differentials and brake intervention. That may include two systems - active "brake vectoring" during cornering (braking with no slippage) and classic traction control system which is braking the slipping wheels - here you may switch to offroad mode to make the intervention more aggresive. This system is the same - as you called it - semi quattro. It does not have center differential and it is not permanent but of course these systems are very good.

Hows the handling on the road? sporty or more like a luxury car? My local Audi dealer is finally getting an A6 Allroad this weekend and I'm looking forward to test driving it. The color is soho brown with brown interior, which is seems very bland, but may use that as a basis to order a 23' model.
Ryan great review! Question would you say that mechanical Quattro is a better all weather system than the jeep GCs Quadra trac 1 & 2? Outside of Jeeps QT2 low range there doesn’t seem to be any other advantages.
Subaru is honestly the best at the off road wagon segment (which they started in the early '70s). That Audi is fine for gravel roads, but even a base Outback blows the Audi out of the water in basically every metric.

I had someone on another video say Audi's AWD system is better than Subaru. That may or may not be true, but when you compare two similar vehicles Audi is easily $20k or more than a similarly capable (and safer) Subaru.

The older system is still used in TDI models. Their 55 TDI is an awesome torque monster.
Sweet dreams are made of these 😍
I haven’t heard many good things about that air suspension.
I had forgotten that these still existed. I guess the Q5 outsells them, so that's why they're not popular.
Threw me off without the hat lmao, good review tho!
2:38 I see what you did there 🤣🤣
Good luck when the air suspension fails and you'll have to look at the bill
Why does Audi needs to make a $80k wagon!? There is a reason why those things doesn’t sell well it’s a shame!!! There are sooo many useless features that makes it expensive. At $50-60k it would have been excellent tbh!
Note to Self: Dont drive next to an Audi A6 Allroad when driving. (Driver glare)
I would not take a 81k luxury car off-road no matter what :)
Too many sub menu's to do basic operation like launch and hill descent etc....for the price
Would like to see it on other types of roads to. Also. what is it with car companys.... if i say that im going to test it offroad iam... and they should know that shit happens.
If youwantmore offroad capabilities in an Audi go for the Allroad C5... The only true Allroad ;)
Taking the defender to the mud hole was pretty sick, after that, no more off-road situations. I remember that episode it was awesome. Bottom line car makers don't want me to do reviews because I will push the limits for sure.
I like these but $80k seems too much for what you're getting.
You need to show something more difficult, we drive Dacia Logan roads worse than this
You said everynthing in a few words 13:38.
It’s named allroad not off-road 😳
My wallet said its about $30k out of my range.Oh well still a nice vehicle with plenty of capability except more ground clearance wouldn't hurt.
Have a feeling VW/Audi interior designers don't own drivers license. Looks-cool-sucks-in-real-world the new VW design language.
That's a cool car, but $81,000 dollars? LoL yeah, no.
VW group must be huffing paint with those prices
Quattro (torsen) 👍
There's no torsen here.
Hard pass on the station wagon, but for those who would buy one I’d wait 3 years when it loses 70% of its value.
According the CarEdge vehicle depreciation calculator, a 2021 Audi A6 on which this car is based has an anticipated 46% depreciation rate after 5 years. How did you arrive at your rate of 70% depreciation after only 3 years? I do prefer facts over hyperbole.
👍👍👍👍👍
Awd system is not for off road
81k dlls 😳👁👄👁
Just get a Subaru
expensive outback.
Get to the point man. The title says off road test and you're giving us a walk round waffle and an on road test.
author, Are y know that happening in the world??!!… or y interesting only that ugly metal??!& no more nothing ??! y living like in paradise, but it’s wrong- very wrong! What are you always smiling???!! What is so funny???!!! d..n
WAGON > SUV
Dropping to 19s and choosing taller AT rubber make the ride even better. The falkens are an amazing street/AT balance. Can't wait to spend more time with it off pavement. The air suspension really is game changing. During summer I can slam it with an app. Then in winter slap on the ATs and let quattro eat. Easily the most versatile vehicle I have ever owned.
