Glad that Ted Williams' cover is getting the attention it deserves! Imagine Ted's numbers if he didn't have to serve in TWO wars ( he got screwed having to go to Korea.) Love the comedian Dennis Leary's quote, "Ted Williams was who John Wayne wanted you to THINK he was". Ted's story would make such a great full length Hollywood motion picture, a true American badass!
WHEW, increased my heart rate a bit with that Teddy Ballgame issue! If I could spend a day with one athlete it'd be me and Terrible Ted in a boat fishing all day. And I'd tell him to give me the full Monty and cuss at me and criticize my technique all day. I got a nice newsstand copy of that SI but probably my favorite is a sweet copy of his '41 LIFE during his .406 year. Glad to see you giving SPORT some love. Wait till you see my Willie Mays 1st SPORT cover from, I think, '56. BEAUTIFUL cover and mine is SWEET! Your beard is officially longer than mine 😁
Funny, I could tell instantly that Reggie label will come off easily with a hair dryer. I have some '54 issues that I got way back in the early 2000's that somebody was an absolute boss at getting the labels off of. Can hardly tell. Nobody happier than Bucktrucker right now😁
CORRECTION - Magic Johnson was also on the cover of all three publications on 2/12/96.
Shout out to Coach Jeff for the info!
While everyone eyeballs Ted, all I can say is “Wooooo!”
