Nice video I actually really enjoyed it. However as someone who lived in Weston for a bit a few years back. The worst estates are Bournville, Oldmxion and Coronation all 3 estates are literally next to each other in same area. However I can't say I disagree with Worle it definitely looks a lot more run down compared to what I remember. If you ever visit again be sure to visit sand bay other side of woods and also Uphill near Hospital. They ain't shit holes but nice to see a bit different side of weston. I come from North Somerset, and agree with much that’s been said here. A lot of Weston is a crap hole. The problems in WSM are completely home grown and absolutely NOTHING to do with refugees, unless you include those taking refuge from Burnham on Sea or Highbridge from where numerous homeless in Weston originate. Boat people don’t roll up on Weston Beach, they would sink and drown in the mud. North Somerset is pretty much off the radar for the vast majority of the recent migrants. I have read the Cadbury family had planned to build a factory and housing for its employees on the site they named Bournville after its base in Birmingham, because many of its employees holidayed in Weston. For whatever reason Cadbury pulled out after starting work on the housing, then sold the land cheaply to the local council. True or not the Bournville Estate has always been a troubled place, built in the middle of a major railway junction it is cut off from the rest of the world apart from two bridges in and out of the estate, ideal for culturing a siege mentality amongst its residents. You are completely right with your comments about Bournville, but not far across the tracks and a short distance to the south lies Oldmixton which suffers similar but slightly lesser problems, and adjacent to that is the Jubilee Estate which is almost as bad as Bournville. There are also pockets of poverty in some of the leafy areas of Weston including Worle, but Worle is a large area, not just the comparatively small dodgy estate you mentioned. Much of Worle has comfortable homes which like most of inland Weston, acts as commuter belt for Bristol. There is a huge problem with drugs in WSM because many of the guest houses of the likes you shown were converted into rehabilitation facilities, designed to take the addicts away from the temptations from the dealers in the big estates and inner cities, these places just attracted drug dealers to move into the town. Weston suffered very badly in the 70’s with the arrival of cheap package holidays, but in Weston the decline was exasperated by a notorious gang of Skinheads from the Bournville Estate thought it big and tough to run riot along the beach and seafront, fighting with Bikers from Bristol frightening the lives out of tourists and day trippers, especially families with young children so badly they never came back. Since then Weston has had to endure almost zero investment North Somerset Council. A council notorious for its nepotism who are more interested in channeling any available investment into the wealthier areas, particularly the leafy communities that border Bristol. As a Conservative administration it has championed the government policy of austerity and that is the reason that Weston is in such a mess, definitely not migrants. Sorry if that doesn’t suit the agenda of blaming refugees and migrants and stoking up the Culture Wars.
I used to go to Weston most years in the late 1960’s as a kid, was basically all my parents could afford. It was always a decent safe place where the folks of Birmingham traditionally went on holiday, hence the Bournville thing. Shocking what a dump it is now
Yes it's a shame, the beachfront still has good footfall during summer but all the areas surrounding are decaying for the same reasons much of the UK is suffering.

Great video as always. Being from Bristol I used to go to Weston every summer in the 90s as a kid and It was a lovely place, completely different now, seems to suffer from a large drug problem especially the area by the Odeon. I'm surprised you didn't visit Oldmixon too
Another absolute wicked video! I’ve noticed it’s not great when walking around the back streets away from the seafront in Weston Super Mare in the past, same with Burnham on Sea in my opinion when I went there for the first time back end of last year. Keep the content coming mate …. Smithy
I lived in Weston 25 years ago and it certainly looks like its gone down hill big time !!! Worle is not a council estate, but a large estate of private houses with what was when I lived there a decent high street. I think the estate is Oldmixon, yes another dumping ground.
Yes, I meant the estate within Worle, I did plan on looking around Oldmixon separately as the stats are pretty bad there as well but I ran out of time on this occasion.

Thanks. I might make them a bit longer. It’s not like I’m short for content, I’m just not sure people love this stuff as much as me and want to see more. 😂
What you show as worle (pronounced wurl) is actually the Oldmixon estate I believe. Had some friends there and walked home through it most days so knew it well.
The shopping area that is referred to as Worle in the video is defiantly Oldmixon! I used to work in the Oldmixon Industrial Estate and walk to that rank of shops every lunchtime to buy a sandwich.
I went to Broadoak school near the seafront. Because of its location we had a lot of kids from the bournville and Oldmixon estates. It was a bit rough but I had a great time, even though I didn't do well at school. It was the late 80s early 90s so there wasn't any knife crime and I never worried walking home or anything... How times have changed.
As much as I liked the video it seriously needed re-editing from 4:22 onwards. It’s clearly not Worle as I grew up on the Oldmixon so I recognise that area anywhere. I do agree with state of the Bournville for sure. Even as a kid I was wary of walking around there. And now I’m 46 I wouldn’t think twice about avoiding it
Hmmm, Bit harsh maybe?... Whilst I don't live in Weston, I did date someone local to here until fairly recently and still visit regularly for a day out on the train so am familiar with the place. There's some great pubs (a very decent 'Spoons on the front, Fork N Ale, Duke of Oxford, and especially the Brit Bar with its regular live music and friendly regulars..) The beach is fine for a wander about and the Grand Pier is definitely worth a visit too.. Also there's quite a few events put on here.. the SeeMonster temporary installation was great as is the GLOW light festival that is held in February in Grove Park. There's also the theatres (Front Room is ace..) and various other entertainments... Yes, it's a little run down in parts, as are many towns...just wanted to balance it a bit.. Cheers
The second area that you show is the old Mixon. It's not Worle, which is around a ten minute drive from there and of which you pronounced incorrectly. At the very least, do your homework before slagging off areas.
Lived in what was considered the good part of Worle facing on to greenbelt farmland near the cemetery ‘86-‘88, where as a kid I made some good friends at St. Martin’s and Priory. My parents were driven to get as far away as possible in Melbourne, Aus. Only been back once and that was over twenty years ago.
Yeah I think I will do. I always hear people have a short concentration span and don’t watch longer vids. But I guess it makes no difference if you think about it, I’ll feature up more discarded mattresses and sofas in the next one 😂
This is so sad....and, one day at some point in future, there will be news stories coming out of these areas about someone who has "lost it" and has started killing huge numbers of people there to rid the country of this sort of sloth and waste. If the government will not do something about this, then history attests to the fact that someone will take it upon himself to do something about it some day. Just a matter of time. Then, there will be the predictable "how could something like this happen?" interviews and the politicians coming in to express their "sympathy" and offer their reassurance that "we are doing something about this....., blah, blah, blah, blah....." People should leave with the clothes on their backs and get out of this hellhole before it is too late. The government does not care about you. If it did, you would not be left here in hellholes like these. YOU ARE REFUGEES OF YOUR OWN COUNTRY, BRITS!!!!
The number of mattresses and sofa's on the streets is probably due to the local council charging for their removal. So people just dump them. Same happened where I live; the council recently brought in a £20.00 charge to have large items taken away from private homes when previously you could just go online and book a free pick up of these items, now people just dump them on street corners, or burn them.
i do blame the councils . at one time you could take anything to your local dump . some now dont open every day plus as you mentioned the cost . we suffer a lot of fly tipping and are in the countryside ,no one about in the night to see them .
Yet it wasn't like that on the 00s. It looked a bit tawdry with cheap discount stores and charity shops but it wasn't dirty and derelict. Councils dont want to spend money on proper waste removal services, including free bulky waste collections like they used to have. Not everyone has a car that they can drive to an amenity site. Some items such as old beds and mattresses are too large to fit into a car or like old fridges are too heavy to fit into a car. So people have old fridges and washing machines that no longer work in their gardens. They want to propritise education and social services but spending on waste, recycling and highways are just as important. People are tripping on uneven paving slabs and slipping on rotted leaves.
I like a visit to Ober Mare…it’s lovely, spend a load of dosh on the car park machines…what’s not to like..?they could design them like fruit machines, then you could really enjoy your day out…without realising you’ve been ripped off..
Visited Weston a lot in the 1970's and it was a very nice seaside location, with a neat, tidy appearance. Even the railway station was surprisingly pleasant. Any chance of a look at Portsmouth? I lived there just before I emigrated, and that was just when they were starting construction on the big observation tower.
Hi, a correction for this video - The area you are describing as Worle isn't Worle. You were on the Oldmixon Estate. Worle is the opposite side of town across the dual carriageway and closer to the M5 junction, and not even close to the Oldmixon
You haven't shown the main highstreet. You showed the tiny side streets. The bournville is actually a very community focused estate, the crime is not as bad as it's listed. We have lived here for years, we have not seen any of this crime. Unless you live here, I wish people wouldn't judge so quickly. 😔
Your shots of Worle (pronounced ’werle’) were actually shots of an estate called The Old mixon, similar to the Bournville - Worle is closure to the motorway junction and certainly not as bad.
I used to work in the nut tree as a chef, the boss forced me out of a job cause she was jealous of me being friends with another chef she fancied, though she was married and I was much younger. Very clicky place, she tried to run it with 2 chefs for costs and tried to work me into the ground. Martin your a dick 🖕🏻🖕🏻
Bournville chocolate refers to a pleasant, leafy suburb of Birmingham where the Cadbury factory is located. Interestingly, there are no pubs there as the Cadbury family, who owned most of the land and property were quakers. Maybe you could explore that area and do a comparison with the Bournville in this video.
It’s fast becoming a theme across my videos. I don’t think I’ve been to an area and not seen at least one mattress dumped on the street to be honest. It’s crazy really, I wonder how far them dump them from their own front doors. Probably not far.
Most councils now charge a substantial sum to remove bulky refuse like old mattresses. So people who can't afford it, or who just don't want to pay, dump them.
Yeh The Bourneville has had a bad reputation for decades, I had elderly family that lived there from more than decades ago, old school people not louts....i also have marriage relations that live/d there.....Worle, is pronounced Whirl.....Worle has several districts so say, the Council estate areas have the worst reputation but it goes on all over, North Worle was the new estate by Priory School just off the motorway back in the 80s/90s....as a whole Weston-Super-Mare is actually a awesome place with some very great aspects and history, its just let down alot for no decent reason.
Would it be a good idea if the council sent a letter out saying they would pick up the mattresses, sofas etc on a certain day for free as a good will gesture and they might get some good feedback for a change. Just a thought
Our local Seaside Towns, have frirnds living in both estates & they been there year's BUT it's same old story in regard to Councils not plying money anywhere other than on unnecessary stuff, not vital amenities as per. Also full of rehabs, like Boscombe in Bournemouth, the people don't want to leave, or they've just been released from a long sentence in Jail & choose these Area's to reside as due to their serious crimes, or addiction's, they don't want to return to their previous Area or Residence, thos then makes for a disaster down the line, homelessness & crime rates sky rocket, Council's have to foot the bill's for Housing & Crime's, & so it goes on & the Local Communities suffer for it, FACT!
For once I thought I didn’t have to sound like an idiot asking a local for the pronunciation because it looked straightforward. Damnit. Haha thanks kind internet person!
Is there such a thing as a "nice" seaside town in the UK? British holiday 'resorts' have always been so tacky, it baffles me why anyone would go to these places for a holiday.
Southend holds the record for my shortest day out ever , 15 minutes. I'm old enough to remember when it was amazing which makes it even more depressing.
Lived in and around the area for 30+ years. There was a time I loved every second of it. Now days I would rather an all expenses paid trip to the Gaza Strip!!
I lived there until January 2024. Absolutely s--thole of a town. When I first moved in 2012, it was Ok. Since 2019 (thanks to a multi-party coalition of Lib Dems, Greens, Labour and Independents), the area has been ruined and gone into free fall. I had more trouble where I lived than I did in Handsworth Birmingham! Says it all. There's a lot of apathy and nobody wants to do anything. The woke oligarchs who dictate to the council there are to blame since their foothold after 2019. More focus on Gaza, BLM (in an area where only 0,5% of the area is black), woke art and other useless things. In fact, it shows woke is a middle class luxury belief. Not one of them are interested in the poverty and crime. Even the homeless are at war with the refugees as their plight has been ignored. Worle - they had a local councillor in Mead Vale to interested in Gaza and bonking his party's secretary! I can't see any hope there at all.
Both. Look up "broken windows theory" if you aren't familiar with it. If pigs are allowed to make the sty, the sty will produce more pigs, who make the sty worse, and the sty produces more pigs, and....
So you go to the shit holes in Weston to make content ? Why not go to the areas that are not shit holes ? I think you have purposely gone to the shit holes and avoided the good areas
Haha which part? It’s basically generic royalty free stuff, you can’t even pick up a snippet of a copyright song from a passing car without getting a claim from UA-cam.
Good video. Currently living near Weston but just renting a property. Lot of talk about a lack of investment in the town but actually the town generates too little income as it has no decent sized employers. No one wants to come here. A lot of new housing has been built but it's aimed at people commuting to Bristol, so Weston is just a dormitory. When you drive past the seafront hotels on a morning there's coaches waiting to take holidaymakers to spend their money elsewhere. As a holiday destination it's failed which is why the rehab industry got started here. Unfortunately that was a disaster for the town and earned it a reputation it will never shake off.

Gangstalking goes on here!!!
wtf is up with all the mattresses?
Nice vid btw👍
They all piss the bed around there, that's why!
I don’t know why I find that so funny. 🤣
It’s fast becoming a theme across my videos. I don’t think I’ve been to an area and not seen at least one mattress dumped on the street to be honest. It’s crazy really, I wonder how far them dump them from their own front doors. Probably not far.
Look up gangstalking! The majority of people here are sick!!
Most councils now charge a substantial sum to remove bulky refuse like old mattresses. So people who can't afford it, or who just don't want to pay, dump them.
Hay m8 that was the oldmixon estate you were showing not worle. Which is as bad as the bourneville but you should get it right. Good vid otherwise😊
Hasnt got a clue
The footage/images you show of Worle, are not Worle and in-fact Oldmixon.
Obviously uneducated
I grew up on the bilville and some of those criminals were my friends as kids. This was my playground
You were showing the Oldmixon estate and not Worle. Worle is separate to Weston-super-Mare and has a dodgy area called Preanes Green.
The problems come from the top but Starmer's government will only make things even worse.
Worle is pronounced as 'whirl', by the way.
For once I thought I didn’t have to sound like an idiot asking a local for the pronunciation because it looked straightforward. Damnit. Haha thanks kind internet person!

Bro I live in Weston it’s perfect now everything has been changed
Worle isn’t an estate it’s a whole place of it’s own the estate u we’re walking round was preanes green in worle👍
My terminology needs work, not going to lie. I know what I mean, but I don’t always mean what I say.
@@ukexplored no worries mate I wasn’t having a go just letting u know👍
Gangstalking goes on here!
There are no easy answers. Possibly the best solution is education which takes a generation or two.
I live in weston and i sort of agree but the fish and chips are the goat
Doom and gloom gets views. I was there yesterday it was just a normal town that needs investment.
Are you sure you were in worle looks nothing like the worle I know.
Is there such a thing as a "nice" seaside town in the UK? British holiday 'resorts' have always been so tacky, it baffles me why anyone would go to these places for a holiday.
I live their and it’s not that great but we survive than those spoilt kids in city’s
Southend is pants too.
Never been there actually. Heard about it though!
I once went to Southend. Very disappointing. They did have a nice cycle path and that's about it.
Only for the government to let it get deeper into depression!!

The premier is open, the shutters are always closed
Before you do a video maybe check your facts are right.
Do some more areas in the midlands like Birmingham Coventry and Leicester
Leicester is next on my list actually. 😃
Weston's full of Brummies 😂
You showed the oldmixon estate while talking about worle
From 4:00 on, awful
Is it the sty that makes the pig, or the pig that makes the sty?
Look up gangstalking it goes on here!!!!!
Both. Look up "broken windows theory" if you aren't familiar with it. If pigs are allowed to make the sty, the sty will produce more pigs, who make the sty worse, and the sty produces more pigs, and....
a big job for David Aldridge MP
And burnbeck pier (the broken one) is a atraction and bournville is dangerous don’t go there I got mugged
All the Worle footage seems to be of Bournville? Worle is not an estate.
So you go to the shit holes in Weston to make content ? Why not go to the areas that are not shit holes ? I think you have purposely gone to the shit holes and avoided the good areas
Rich tories horde all the wealth in the country
What is that awesome backing track? Brave man wandering about risking getting stabbed and having your shoes stolen 😂
Haha which part? It’s basically generic royalty free stuff, you can’t even pick up a snippet of a copyright song from a passing car without getting a claim from UA-cam.
@ukexplored The Worle section...that's a banging tune...
Decaying, decadent Britain 🤮🤮🤮
FYI Worle is pronounced like whirl
Most of the bussiness are taken back now
Sat's don't lie? Well, maybe, but with a little bit of careful manipulation, you can make them say (almost) anything you want.
I hear you, but there is no smoke without fire.
HUH AM I TRIPPING ITS THE TOP FIVE SEASIDE
hi i just wanted to let you know that you pronounced 'worle' wrong, its not pronounced like 'wall' its more like 'wurle" 😊
Come Coventry bro
Yea, I'm definitely going to Coventry this year. 👍
This is my hometown and the decline of it is shocking and sad. I live abroad now and could never see myself moving back there really...
i live here yipeee!!!
Happy days! 😃
Your video is misleading! You talked about Worle, but showed Oldmixon! Get your facts correct before posting videos!
It's Worle according to Google, what you want me to do - ask the local council? how are you sure you're correct?
Look up gangstalking! It goes on here!!
@@ukexplored yeh thats the oldmixon aller parade shops which is next to the bournville estate. worle is a different area , shows on google maps.
Idoot
