New Zealand holiday| Sun-sea-surf: Come to Raglan
A fabulous day in Ragland and the surrounding bays. Whale Bay, Manu Bay and Ngarunui Beach. What's not to like. Sea, sun and surf and plenty of it. Raglan is a black ( iron ore) beach. Famous for it's ideal surfing conditions. Fun for all, rocks to climb, beaches to discover and surfing possibilities at world class level. The township itself is a Art lovers mecca. A hippie type atmosphere is ever present no matter what time of year one visits here.
We loaded up two cars with food, bikes, skate and boogie boards, scooters and a mountain of energy. Enjoy our day out. We sure did.

Wow Anita, your editing skills are really amazing. I never spent much time in Raglan, however, everyone in NZ knows Raglan as a great surfing place. The West coast is so much more rugged than the East. Great to see you're still out there doing it, traveling the world! :)Robbie

Big strong waves 😮 I wish I could swim, but I’m still scared even in swimming pool 😅 Now I wanna go working in the farms somewhere in New Zealand or Australia! I was watching the series Vikings and the lead actor Ragnar played by an Aussie actor, I googled about him oh he has a farm in north Victoria, I’m in love 🙏🤣 I saw your upcoming clip, won’t miss it! These days I’m a little slow with catching up as I just got back to Thailand for a week and been only laying in bed.

Hi Esther. No unfortunately, no whales here despite the name. Whale Bay was an ideal location for Māori to launch their early whaling missions and gives it the name used today. Just surfers riding the waves when they can catch them. The coast in the area is indeed gorgeous. We love visiting here. Thanks for the lovely comment and the support to the channel. Hi Anita, what a splendid day at the various beaches! Loved seeing the waves crash against the rocks and the surfers negotiate the rocks and surf. The sandy beach was perfect for paddling and playing in the sand. Happy memories to treasure 💖🌊🌊
It was awesome making these memories with the grandchildren. We used to go here when my children were young. Great to carry on the tradition. That surfing is a popular activity here - perfect surf for it. It was a bit of deja-vu as we used to go there as a family. Great memories relived. 😎🇳🇱🙋♀️🥝

I was surprised to see the two surfers walking on the rocks to get to the water. Then all the rocks in the water around them 😬 The waves look perfect! Nice skate park, too. Was this all in one day?

such a beautiful autumn day and a gorgeous beach at Raglan! this is a lovely place for a picnic, specifically at Whale Bay and just enjoying the waves battering those rocks and the surfers doing their thrilling moves, and feeling the sea breeze, and immersing in this relaxing atmosphere. it's fun watchng the kids having fun with their bikes and scooters, Yeah with so much to offer in Raglan, it's good for a family getaway. thank you for taking us along wih you.

The rocky beach looks like a great space for surfers - it was fascinating watching them out there. The sandy beach looks much more enjoyable for non-surfers. The games that kids get up to are always so cute, I'm sure there's more of a story about the circle in the sand. Looks like a great day out! Have a great weekend, Anita.
It really is a surfer's mecca Donna. my two boys spent a quite few hours when younger surfing there. I'm a beach walker so enjoy the sand more. I can't recall what was behind the circle except that I accidentally hit the slow motion button at some stage 🤣 and didn't see that till I previewed the shots. Turned out quite cool I thought. Such a lovely place. Raglan is a massive old Welsh castle not far from me. Looks like some of the welshies went over there to stake their claims 😁👍♥️
