The fact there's slight juddering as you pan the camera quickly tells you that even the 4090 is striggling to maintain a steady framerate. Wildcard has a ton of work to do with optimisation both in game and working with Nvidia and AMD on better drivers.
If not for frame generation the game would not be playable on max even with a RTX 4090. So yes, the game is heavy and it remains to be seen how well Wildcard manages to optimize it

As I was watching the Wooly Mammoth do his sideways moonwalk, I began to wonder why no developer has written code to create procedural animations for repetitive things like walking and turning. Alternatively, maybe AI could do it: train the AI with handmade animations for normal walking, then have it generate animations for strafing and/or turning.

Yeah computers are crazy fast... ark isn't so optimized though, even in this I can tell things they are trying to optimize and still getting poor optimization, you can see tree shadows are blocky and only updating every few frames
optimization is out of the planet. My 3060 should be able to get 60-70 fps on high but in some places, I get up to 90 and in some places I get up to 20 or 25 I love this game and loved Ark very much. hope they optimize it
Go to RTX in settings and set Nvidia DLSS to Ultra performance. Mess around with your settings a bit to see which works best. Also, in the settings, enable the console, then access it by pressing Esc during gameplay and clicking on console in the bottom left corner, type in "r.VolumetricCloud 0" without the " of course. It will make clouds disappear, but also give you some fps back. Appearantly up to between 20 and 30 fps, dont quite believe that myself but hey, maybe it works for you
To be expected, the original ASE had future proofed visuals too and couldn't run on high settings very easily on that generations hardware. ASA is designed to not look outdated even 5 years from now.

I don't think anyone walks that slow when playing the game! But, if I don't move the game looks great! it's when I start running, jumping, etc.. that starts to be a little less amazing! I have an RTX3060 and barely play it with medium to high settings, it's not the card! It's the game! I play many other games and none have problems as Ark games do, it is still an amazing concept so they just need to improve the performance of the game a lot.
I try ASA on Threadripper, 128gb ram, ssd and same on 4090 RTX. It look crazy, i switch to PC with same 128GB SSD and RTX with i9 and it look nice but not that good like on the Threadripper. I think this is bad optimalisation of ASA for now, later probably pc with I5 can run those game on highest possible options (of course for they pc) Anyway i wait for Crystal Isles and Ragnarok in ASA and for fuly optimalization.. I think they want to Ark Survival Evolved looking like ASA at begining but 8 years ago this technology not exist. I hope ARK 2 will kich both of those production, but not earlier since 2026/2027. The Series X is a very good bang for buck console. It usually comes with a lot better optimization because there's just one system to optimize for. Still it cannot compare to a high-end gaming PC. But then of course there's almost a 10x price difference

When its only coming to gaming in general why waste 2000 or 3000 dollars when you can use 500 dollars and still be gaming in 4k quality? I have a silly question but I live in Jordan the Middle East and I want a PC how much would it cost for me to build or buy a PC with RTX4090 I9-13900k 128gb RAM and 4TB of storage with a 4k resolution monitor able to go up to 120FBS and other maxed out components my budget is about 8,000$ would it be enough to make such a machine thank you
They did so much for the graphics but Left the decade old animations for the Dinosaurs, You might say if it ain't broke then don't fix, THe thing is the animations are broken in the first place, they look so goofy it ruins everything, I was really disappointed on seeing it

I did not customize anything except changing the DLSS to Quality. Since the last update on epic I have noticed increased stuttering but somewhat higher framerates. The game is still very unoptimized

I'm not convinced the video is running on max everything. The realtime shadows for folliage as the player gets close are still blurry and getting refreshed very slowly. Typically having Advanced Graphics set to High or Epic means those shadows are crisp at close range and updating much quicker. Look at the floor shadows to the right @1:20, the shadows on the rocks @2:40 and other areas.
@@KryyssTV I can confirm this is running with everything on max. However the game suffers from problems with advanced graphics. Shadows cast by dynamic objects are not updating properly. This is something seen across all settings

Seems harsh that you have to pay some £40 just for _"better graphics and a few UI changes"_ for what is basically the game game that came out 8 years ago. The PC game, _"The Isle"_ had a huge change a couple years ago and they didn't ask it's supporters for an extra £40. *It was free!*

@@GodOfWrath7 Yeah you can upgrade the pc later down the road, but it would take some understanding of how to build a pc/swap parts. But you can find guides on UA-cam on how to do it. Last blackfriday I bought a Hp victus with a rex 3060 and a i5 12th gen because it was almost cheaper than building it myself, but now that there's more demanding games id like to play ive upgraded to a i9 14th gen and a rtx 4070 ti. On the hp victus this was a really simple task as hp didn't make it too difficult to upgrade it. Rather they made it really simple, and for those that don't know how to there's a lot of guides out there. But I suggest you do some research into upgrade tutorials for the pc ur trying to buy and then decide if ur up for the task. If you feel like its too difficult for you to upgrade it then there are pc shops that can upgrade your pc for a fee, at least where I live they do.
@johanfunes a 4090 is a display adapter called a graphics card. It's not a computer It's a part of it. The Best buy computer you're seeing is probably a desktop computer or laptop with a 4090 in it.
This is an older game, so can't really complain too much. But the lighting on the underbrush is terrible and there are no wind effects. When was the last time you were in a tropical environment and none of the trees or plants were moving in the wind.

The graphics are so good, that the broken animal animations and clipping completely destroys the immersion, due to the high contract between the two.

This is an older game, so can't really complain too much. But the lighting on the underbrush is terrible and there are no wind effects. When was the last time you were in a tropical environment and none of the trees or plants were moving in the wind.
Yeah the environment can look good but it's ruined by big pink text saying something like *LEVEL 45 TURTLE*
