Prof. Emanuel Gull - ERC Advanced Grant (ERC)

Predictive algorithms for simulating quantum materials to tytuł projektu naukowego prof. Emanuela Gulla, na którego realizację badacz otrzymał grant Advanced przyznawany przez Europejską Radę ds. Badań Naukowych (ERC). Pochodzący ze Szwajcarii naukowiec w swoim projekcie będzie łączył istniejące i opracowywał nowe metody oparte na technikach z kwantowej teorii pola, teorii materii skondensowanej, metodach kwantowego Monte Carlo, matematyki stosowanej czy uczenia maszynowego. Na realizację projektu badacz otrzymał dofinansowanie na kwotę 3,5 mln euro.
Badacz z Uniwersytetu w Michigan zrealizuje ERC Advanced Grant na Wydziale Fizyki UW. To pierwsza sytuacja, gdy zagraniczny laureat grantu ERC decyduje się prowadzić swoje badania na Uniwersytecie Warszawskim.

Predictive algorithms for simulating quantum materials is the title of the research project conducted by Prof. Emanuel Gull. In his project, the Swiss-born scientist will combine existing and develop new methods, building on techniques from quantum field theory, condensed matter theory, quantum Monte Carlo, applied mathematics, as well as machine learning. For this purpose, Prof. Gull has received funding of almost €3.5 million.
The researcher from the University of Michigan will carry out his ERC Advanced Grant at the UW’s Faculty of Physics. It is the first time that a foreign ERC grant laureate has decided to conduct the research at the University of Warsaw.
