One of my favorite motors, my low idle is touchy on mine, thank you for another awesome video I love these motors👍and look forward to your videos thank you
These are really nice little fishing motors. This is a pretty good strong one and it runs great. Very enjoyable motor to run. I'm glad to hear you enjoy the videos. I'm looking forward to making more when the water softens up again. Thanks for watching!
Looks like a nice one. I just went through a 56 Johnson 7.5. I actually made a video, but didn't post it. It had a miss at wot. Got it home and tested the coils. Turned out to be an open plug wire, so I put new wires on it. Only tested in the tank since then.
I didn't expect to be able to make a video in December either. Thank you. This motor dud turn out to be a nice one. Looks decent and runs great. Can't wait to take it for a lake ride. Thanks for watching!
Congratulations on your new motor! They are beautiful running, quiet, smooth motors. A good fesh one has decent power. So many of these have lost compression and have similar power to a 5.5. They still run great even then. Enjoy your motor and thanks for watching!
Yes, I believe this is going to be a good one. I like the 7.5s when they're fresh and strong. This one seems to be. Looking forward to a lake ride. Thanks for watching Don!
Yes, this one is a good runner. I believe I'll be holding on to this one. I only have a few 7.5s anyway. I do like the 56-58 7.5s because they are so quiet. Thanks for watching!
I found one of these fleetwin 7.5 motors in a metal pile at the local scrap yard about a year ago, paid roughly $2.50 for it. Shot some carb cleaner down the throat and it fired right up. From what I can tell, it needs carb work (won't run for more than 5-10 seconds) an impeller and maybe an engine reseal. Also missing all of the exterior knobs and I can't find a connector for the fuel lines. Do you know where I could get parts for this thing? I can't believe someone would throw a sweet thing like that in the scrap pile.
Great save! I would suggest you go completely through it with a full tune up service. Consumables are still available new. Marineengine.com is a good online source among others for parts. Knobs show up on Ebay sometimes too. I reccomend OEM parts for fuel system and ignition. You will need to pull the powerhead to replace the water pump impeller, but its not a bad job. It will probably need a new powerhead base gasket and lower crsnk seal gasket as well as a new O-ring inside the carbon seal and one on the drive shaft. Chrysleroutboarddude recently did a video on servicing a 1955 Johnson 5.5hp and this motor is done the same way. Thanks for watching!
Can I see you fuel tank & hoses? I have the exact same motor. I don’t think mine is getting fuel. I don’t know much about them & need some help/advice. Thx
This motor uses a pressurized tank fuel system woth a fuel line that feeds the carburetor and an air line that pumps crankcase pressure into the sealed fuel tank. The pressure pushes fuel to the carburetor. Here is a video I made showing the fuel connection with a pressure guage that I made to fit in the line. That allows me to monitor to fuel system pressure, how long it takes to come up to pressure and how long it takes to leak down while connected to the motor. Maybe this will help you understand how the system works. Thanks for watching. ua-cam.com/video/NqBq1IYibnc/v-deo.html
Ya, all my motors I ran last season are winterized and the boat was tucked away in the barn for the nasty Michigan winter too. I HAD to dig it out and go for a run since I had the chance today. Thanks Mike! It seems like an excellent runner. Very much looking forward to a run around the lake with this one next season. Thanks for watching!
My runabout with remote controls isn't quite ready for water yet. I will still be running the vast majority of my fishing motors with the tiller control anyway though. Thanks for watching.
You can get parts at your local BRP Evinrude dealer. There are also several sources online. I use Marineengine.com often for parts. Thanks for watching and congrats on your motors!
Yes Greg, I'm definitely fighting chara algae. It has gotten pretty heavy in some areas. My natural spring has become partially blocked too. I'd really like to have it cleaned and made a bit deeper in some areas. That's pretty expensive though, and I have not quite warned up to losing all the fish and having to restock. I may try making a drag and cleaning it out some that way first.
@@oldjohnnyrude8404 One area of my pond is about 8 feet. No weed problems there. I hit the pond with algicide , basically copper sulfate, and that helps keep it under control.
@@gregoffenback6910 one small area of mine goes between about 7 feet this time of year to about 11 feet or so in the spring. No weeds there either. Much of the pond is only a couple to 3 feet deep now and is about 6 feet in the spring. That is where the algae thrives. I'll have to try the algaecide to thin the stuff. It has gotten bad the last couple years.
@@oldjohnnyrude8404 Hit it before you see it I find helps. If you wait till it is in full bloom it is not as effective. I will hit mine early April. Your pond is bigger than mine. I use about 1 gallon every month. I think mine is about 1/4 acre, 3 to 8 feet deep. I would love to dredge it, but that would mess up the lawn, and cost $$$$. I have a small battery powered sprayer I bought at tractor supply I use in the boat with a good slow running motor.
@@gregoffenback6910 I'll try that next year. Ice usually goes off by March. Maybe late March early April I'll try to hit the algae. I have plenty of slow trollers and a battery powered sprayer. You're sure right about dredging. Expensive and messes up the yard. My pond is only about 1/4 acre too. I'll have to measure it someday. When it's at its deepest, it's got quite a bit more surface area. Thanks Greg.
What a smooth and quiet motor she is! For 62 years of age she is really really nice! Mark in Iowa.
Thanks Mark! I'm quite pleased with how this one turned out. Can't wait to make a lake run next season. Thanks for watching!
