This was a great interview! Dave's a very articulate and bright guy who gives interesting & insightful answers. You can tell he's getting his act together and straightened out, right here. Sure, he relapsed a couple of times in the 90s, but late 1989 was a major turning point: new bandmembers, new vision, new music and new lifestyle. If Dave and Megadeth never got off drugs, changed management and bandmembers at that very moment, I doubt they would have went on to have the success they had and still do have in the present day (March 2024). Late 1989 was a crucial time for the band.
@@divinespark4842 Ah your right, Vanessa didn't didn't start till late Summer of 1990 to 1997 hosting this show. However 1990 still had many 80's vibes to it anyway. 😀
I was born in 1986 so didn't see this or any MTV until about 1998. Dave didn't get clean until 1999 so he was still using in 1989. Im glad Dave conquered his demons. Interesting video!
It was awesome. I had my vhs programmed to record headbangers ball and I had my Pioneer XL speakers hooked up to my vhs. Of course I had an annoying blinking equalizer set on a quite heavy bass. It was like christmas coming home after sports weekend late sunday evening. Mega tired but still just had to watch some of it before passing out in bed. Those where the days. 33 years ago 😮😊
he was definitely on heroin, but obviously somewhat in control, not to the point of nodding off. Probably drunk too. Here, listen to him say "I don't even remember 1989" ua-cam.com/video/Zmo4S_RzWdo/v-deo.html
Mr. Vian is this the same 1990 episode that has The Almighty's Guide To Glasgow on it where the band go to "The Venue" a rock club in Glasgow ? There was a clip on UA-cam a few years ago but it got taken down since. Too bad you didn't record full episodes of this show.
"It's never been Megadeth featuring Dave Mustaine, it was like that in the band I was in before (hinting Metallica) and precisely why I ventured off on my own." Not really, Dave. It was because you were kicked out of Metallica...
+Michael Williams Yes, you're a keyboard warrior. Because I have another opinion than you do (that must be tough for you) then you call me a poser and a faggot, even though you don't have the slightest idea of who I am, or my relation to music. Lars and Hetfield formed Metallica. Without Dave Mustaine the band would probably still exist. A song light "Hit the Lights" for example was written before Dave was in the band. Metallica did fine after Dave Mustaine was kicked out, and Dave did fine after being kicked out. I like both bands. They're different but great. So no, you did not correct me. You wrote your own subjective, and objectively wrong opinion. Then you insulted me instead of arguing for your case. And before you're going to reply something in the lines of that I am "butthurt", and that you hurt my feelings. Not even close. I don't really care. I'm not the one acting like I am 16. You are. See ya, kid.
+No if Dave "made" Metallica, how come all the albums after "Kll Em All" were much more popular than the debut ? I mean their 80's albums offcourse......
Rattlehead Translation: I don't know how to properly engage in intelligent conversation because I'm an edgy try hard that erroneously uses the term poser to look cool for my thrash buddies that party.. Jokes aside, you're acting like a preteen who just learned to cuss and it's cringe inducing, you're embarrassing yourself more than anything.
Dave's hair was awesome there.
I met Dave a bunch of times as a band driver and he is actually a really nice guy.
Im jealous
Dave Mustaine is really charismatic & enchanted! Every time I watch the video with MegaDave I realize why I love this guy! 🔥🤘

Here's my boy, Dave Mustaine!!!😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
Omg lol. I said "and what it feels like" when he did too!! Made my day. Love you Dave!
Ahhhhhh the 1980's what a great decade
The best!🤘
Mikekaraoke ... this was the 90s, strictly speaking. 😉😗

He could have got clean in 89 and relapsed. It's common in drug users, especially drugs like heroin
He didn't get clean until 1992, then relapsed in 1995, and got clean again onwards. Jr. got clean in 1990.
RIGHT before Marty Friedman and the masterful comeback in the form of Rust in Peace.
Sometimes I really can't believe how great MTV once was and how thrash it has become

Is he stoned out of his mind or is it just me!? HAHAHAHA
He's so beady eyed, must be right before he cleaned up.
He was definitely high. 1989 was a pretty out of control year for him. That was also the same year that he went in to rehab for the first time.

@@NS1.that just awesome! How much drugs do you have to be on to forget a year! 😂
"Behold, the beheaded."
Awesome! Thanks for this! ❤
Dave Mustaine: "We are going back to our roots" (1989)!!!
Great video. Best show ever! I thought Vanessa didn't start hosting Headbangers Ball until some point in 1990.
She was beautiful
Dave was so wasted during the filming of no more mr nice guy that he couldn't play and sing at the same time.
Vanessa looking her BEST..
Dont wake up the dead
Feb 5th is my birthday Dave!
Happy late birthday
Dave is like a long haired elf

He tries to look cool and funny but he is so stoned 😂
Was the drummer he said they were going to do a press release on Nick Mensa or did they ditch him and get Nick
I believe Nick had Slayer for a minute but then they changed their mind to get Dave Lombardo again.
Yes, he was talking about Nick Menza as he had just played on 'No More Mr. Nice guy', Megadeth's only song as a 3-piece
I wish he was British so we could be from the same country. 😢 also been there to London dungeons.
"Things are less political" As you write your most political album, lol
poor dave. so much drugs dude
"No More Mr. Nice Guy" best Megadeth song :D:D:D
LOL, DESMOND CHILD IS MORE OF A SONGWRITER, NOT PRODUCER AND HE PROBABLY DID NOT WANT TO DEAL WITH YOU DAVE
How old are you people out there who love megadeath? I'm 10. I mean megadeth DAMN AUtocorrect!
cringe
If you noticed the mistake before posting, then why didn't you just correct your comment before posting?
