I have 2 GoPros, a pocket 3 and more but I really want a action 5pto, no need- just want 😹😹😹 nice review! Thankfully finally one speaks about real world experiences!!
photographer here.... highly considering getting the Action 5 instead of the Pocket 3 for BTS and vlogging. The durability and price difference, as well as the fact that they're both great cameras makes me lean toward the Action 5 for POV during shoots as well
Yea, you can have both active at the same time or turn either one off. One usually dimms, but when you tap it it gets active again when you swipe on the screen👍
I've owed 5 versions of the GoPro cameras and have had problems with all of them, just sold a new warranty replacement Hero 12 which will likely be the last GoPro I ever own. The DJI action 5 Pro has been working well for me so far. Thanks for being honest, it's rare with action camera reviews these days.
I observe no noticeable difference between the A4 and the A5Pro tbh. I own the Action 4. I use it all the time for vlogging and daily captures. I also own the Pocket 2 and Pocket 3. Obviously the Pocket 3 produces the best results, but I still enjoy using the Action 4 as a daily driver. However, when I'm out trying to shoot something cinematic, I would consider having a combination of A4 P2 or A4 P3, as I could attach the A4 on me as a POV camera and use the other camera to shoot particular objects.
Great breakdown, Rob! I’ve been rocking the Osmo Action 4 and have been on the fence about upgrading to the Action 5 Pro. Your deep dive into stability, battery life, and D-Log M10 bit has me seriously considering it. The built-in storage and seamless DJI mic connection also seem like game-changers. One thing I’m curious about-have you noticed any real-world differences in low-light performance between the Action 4 and 5 Pro? Also, for someone who mostly shoots action-packed scooter rides and outdoor adventures, do you think the upgrade is worth it, or would the Action 4 still hold up? I appreciate all the insights. Your content always helps with these tough upgrade decisions! 🙌🔥
I have the 4 too and while tempted to get the 5 I don’t think it’s worth it. I’m trying to wait for the 6. The 4 already has excellent battery life. Yes the instant recording with onboard is storage is nice, but still not worth the upgrading. As a scuba diver I really like the depth feature. But the 6 will have all that and I think built in GPS.
Always love your videos Rob and did you really just do a side by side with a GO 3s and the GP13?? LOL and the "It's just trash.." statement... ouch... We are at the era where the marginal video quality difference is no longer valid with everyone's different and creative shooting style. An action camera that in 2025 still cannot shoot well in low light environment is just plain sad and that's not even talking about 'night' shooting. As someone like me who often shoot action/events in low light environment, I would rather have a camera that gets me the other 50% of my footage than the marginal video quality advantage. DJI and Insta360 are really the only ones keeping up with their users constant demands from their camera.
Appreciate that bro! Ye, the GO 3S is always on my hat when we hike and i just picked up the GP13 a day before this hike so i thought it was interesting to check out the "improvements"! disappointed as always.. And fun fact the GO 3S was also 2x zoomed in, so the GO 3S quality is actually better than shown. Just my shorts that wanted to tap the 2x button 😅 DJI and Insta is the only allrounders for now
Ich habe die Action 5. Bin bisher sehr zufrieden. Hatte bisher immer Gopro-Kameras. Die 12er ist echt gut. Und die behalte ich auch. Die 13er aber kein wirklicher Fortschritt.
Action4 is still a great value, I swapped to the Action5 Pro because I can use (2) Dji Mics with it which is Pretty cool as I can't have this option with the Action4
@@dtwfilms7329 that's just it, I don't need to do that so why would I want too. That's just adding more things to something I don't need to and why complicate it when I can just simply have the Action Camera an 2 mics. Nothing more needed to complicate things
I'm starting to regret buying the Action 5 Pro and not getting the Pocket 3. All footage is like mush, I have followed all kinds of tutorials "Get the Cinematic look" videos these UA-camrs put out. Especially in lower light, I get the jittery artefacts, in Supernight mode and Manual modes. I had the Action 3 previous and never experienced this mushy, jittery video before, i'm considering selling the Action 5 Pro.
@ as in put it in auto, I tried this when I had the Action 3, but skies would be blown out and didn’t look nice overall, but the footage was clear and stable. So when I got the 5 Pro, I started using the manual settings and 10bit etc. worst footage, some even unusable due to the jittering. I think I will go back to try auto settings, see if that improves 👍🏻 Thanks
To say how good a camera is, u don't necessarily need to throw sheet at the competition, GoPro is a perfectly good camera, but Dji is better, or is this an advertisement so that u need to make sure nobody buys the competition?

U are an addict... Just like me 😅
thank you for being so honest. because gopro has been ripping off customers for years.
There´s no real upgrade to the GoPros from the Hero 11 really, video quality 10 vs 13 is same same too 🤷♂️
Great video Rob,
I have had great results with my DJI Action 5 Pro for mountain biking.
Thanks! Ive seen some vids of that type! Looks sick!

If you get the neck strap too, its a killer for POV 👌👌
I’m all in on the Action 5, It has become one of my favorites. Thanks for sharing.
Is it possible to switch screens between front and rear one- mid recording on the action 5 pro cameras ?
Yea, you can have both active at the same time or turn either one off. One usually dimms, but when you tap it it gets active again when you swipe on the screen👍

💎 Exceptional video! Your tutorials are very helpful. 💥
Thanks a lot mate 🙌😀
I tested the A5P against the 360 AP2 for several weeks and choose the A5P. It’s a fantastic camera and DJI is killing it.
Amazing video Rob! Could you please share your shooting settings? Do you always use high bitrate? what about sharpness and noise reduction? thanks!
Thanks bro 👌 Sharpness is -1. All «tropical» clips had low bitrate as it was the only option st the time. Rest is high 👍
@ thanks! Do you leave noise reduction at default on the camera?
It needs
Easy access to exposure compensation (on screen icon.
It needs individual iso settings in auto mode, not just the 100-800 etc
I can't speak for any other action camera, but the Action 5 pro is my very first one and it has been great so far.

That's a LIE. I used two(2) dji mics with my action 4. I just attached the receiver to the USB-C port

Have you tried just no listening to anyone and use the default settings? That´s what i do and sharpness to -1

Thanks
Auto settings and then drop exposure value to -0.5/-0.7 ish and test that 👌
Don't believe the HYPE these action cams are terrible at nights i will only upgrade from the Action 4 when they release one with a 1 inch sensor
@@RobHK thank you, will do 👍🏻
only for low light its worth the up grade.
🎉🎉
I prefer GoPro over DJI....
Why
To say how good a camera is, u don't necessarily need to throw sheet at the competition, GoPro is a perfectly good camera, but Dji is better, or is this an advertisement so that u need to make sure nobody buys the competition?
If gopro was perfectly good, i wouldnt have issues or get poor quality in 50% of my cases.
Its just how it is and my opinion✌️
