It’s great to have you back. Good that you managed to put the phone down for a while. I look forward to your further updates. It all looks great btw. 🙏
Hi Andy Welcome back. Same as you spent time away from modelling. Slowly getting back into it. Layout still looking fabulous. Love the trains running round. Going to GETS this year, however if I knew Pete Waterman was going wouldn't have gone, nightmare last year way to many people there Thanks Andy. Thumbs up thumped 👍 ....Pete....
Hi Pete, great to hear from you. Hope all is well. I did see some videos from last year - it looked very busy. Think Doncaster next year might be the next one I get to! Take care, Andy 👍
Thanks for the update Andy, great to see you back Had summer off myself but for different reasons (work and kids school hols don't make for modelling time!!!) Not going to make GETs either, but it's Boston this weekend and Spalding at start November plus the ex Warley show end November) Looking forward to watching your progress
Hi I’m a newish subscriber and really enjoy watching your videos! Looking forward to seeing you undertake the projects you’ve highlighted in the video. As a relatively new subscriber it would be great to have a layout tour as it’s hard to visualise the whole layout we only generally see it in the areas your working on. Cheers Gary
Good to see you back , my partners son was hoping to see you at electric train show. He loves watching you're videos, he is autistic and sensory needs, It would make his day if you could say hello to him on you're next vidio. His name is Thomas Cummack. Thanks Graham
Glad you're back grandad! Love your layout, what are the lights you've used in your engine shed area? I went and bought the same sheds from eBay after seeing yours!
Thanks very much. I’ve used 2 different types of lights for the yard. The ones around the engine sheds were from Kytes Lights (3 x 110mm Double Yard Light) and for the area around the TMD I got the lights from Amazon (Puupaa 4PCS Model Railway Led Yard Lights). I do prefer the ones from Kytes Lights - they are better quality. Hope that helps 👍
Hi Andy nice to have you back fully refreshed and ready to go. How about instead of putting a helix under the layout, which is always a bother to get too, turn the track right under the window and then build a fiddle yard/storage along the stud wall under the bench top. Move your storage units under the layout. A return loop would get the trains back onto the layout. You could also hinge half of the bench, like an old school desk, for easy access. Split the hinged section so you would still have a work bench even when open or have the front of the hinged flap less than half so that it folded flat on the back half so you could use it to work on. Just a thought as I abandoned thoughts of a helix as advancing age and reduced flexibility would make it impossible to get to. Brian
Thanks Brian. That’s an interesting idea. Before I built the stud wall I did consider taking the track over the stairwell and building a fiddle yard. 👍
@@Grandadstrainroom-pn3tt I work in N so not sure what room you need to do a big oval in, say, 2nd radius minimum with a point ladder off at one end and a point ladder back onto the oval the other end. Wouldn't need a return loop that way. Again, not sure of the dimensions but if you get half a dozen roads that will take 2 trains on each you could put a series of cross over points half way along each road to allow the train at the back to get out. You can make it as complicated as you want but it will still be simpler than an helix. The workbench above will act as a dust cover as well.🙂
Welcome back from the vacation. happy to hear you had a relaxing time.
Thank you. It was much needed! 👍
