Siskel would have been proud that they brought back an orchestra on the TCM version. This movie is fantastic.

Significant chunks of this film that were missing when this review aired have been found and restored. Also, the film's original music is now grafted back into the film (played by full orchestra).

its easy to criticize the Giorgio Moroder version of Metropolis, but you have to respect the fact the man at least tried to make a watchable version of the film for a new generations of moviegoers.

It's funny how this version is now like a double time capsule - silent movie footage filmed in the 1920s accompanied by 1980s synth music

Saw this in the theater and thought it was great, even though some critics panned this version. The soundtrack is one of the best albums of 1980's pop.

I think every classic silent film should be found and restored.

When I was in grad school, I took a class on the influence of Madonna, and we watched Parts of this movie. It's cool 😎.

Check out: The Passion of Joan of Arc (1928). My favorite silent film.

Like Battleship Potemkin, I don't think this film has held up with age. I recommend watching it but the film's narrative is all over the place.

Wrong on both accounts. Both films are amongst the best of all time and both have solid narratives, especially Metropolis.

@@joeycmichael3206 Metropolis is all over the place in it's narrative but it's surprisingly stable in it's overall political message.
