    Ah, yes he’s right on with the oil level. I did my Vulcan Nomad 1700, added a schosche more & the stick was topped. Will take some out, 10w40 M1. Trying this instead of V-twin 20w50 M1. Kawasaki uses a radiator so I figure it can handle tx heat well. HD probably requires the extra viscosity down south. I suspect the radiator fan will activate more but it’s designed for that.

    To check oil level, does the bike need to be on a side stand or upright? You have yours on a mechanic stand, but the bike only comes with side stand. When I checked my oil level in upright there's almost no oil on the stick. When on a sidestand then seem over fill. I just brought the new 2021 bike home last week. Wondering what is the correct procedure to check the oil level.

      Upright after running for 5 minutes and 5 minutes off as per Kawasaki manual

    Hi. Thanks for the videos. I have a new 2018 Voyager 1700. My question is about tire pressure. The book says 28 psi for the front tire. Yet, an advanced driving skills instructor says that the front wheel will 'fall' to one side during low speed practice manuevers, while practicing full-lean/full lock turns, & exercises. So, he inflates the front to 40psi to prevent the front wheel from 'falling' to one side during tight turns. Will 40psi be dangerous to ride on? Thanks.

      Just did the oil change and 5.5 quarts later I'm still not touching oil. I must have gotten all the oil out when I drained it.

    Dear John,
    I do oil change myself on my Kawasaki Z800.
    while doing so, i put some oil in the new filter ( exactly 100ml ) , by which i didnt spill any while i put the new filter on the motorcycle.
    i do this so that engine does not starve of oil when the filter soaks it initially.
    During the initial start up , the low oil pressure didnt go off for a good 10-20 seconds..
    I then removed the filter, added more oil to get rid of 3 tiny bubbles and then the next start got rid of low pressure within 3 seconds.
    I suspect trapped air in filter , but is the oil pump not powerful enough to push that tiny bit of air ?

      Should be, might have created a little pressure pocket. Normally it will fix itself.

    My 2006 klx 110 will not start, but will on occasion if you let sit for a couple days. It has a 143cc big bore kit, bigger race cam, 28 mm Mikuni carb, FMF 4.1 straight pipe, and also a bigger jug. It's getting spark getting fuel and the carb is not that dirty by the last time I checked it. What could it be? Please respond it would mean a lot… Thanks

    • @kellymc239
      @kellymc239 4 роки тому

      Your big bore kit may have affected one of two issues. 1. You may have to re-jet the carbs for more fuel due to the larger chamber size, now. Or, 2. You may have to re-pipe your exhaust if the back-pressure is incorrect, due to the new bore size. My guess is the exhaust valves are now too small for the job. What you've done is make the bore larger, without enlarging the intake & exhaust valves. These valves were sized for the engine, and now you have more area to fill (intake) and more to vent (exhaust) than the valves might be able to handle. This leads to a chamber not filling completely, low fuel/air mixture, causing you to re-jet. Or, if you can't clear all the exhaust during the cycle, too much back-pressure by volume. Hope this helps.

      Its a semi dry sump. You drain 2 qts from crankcase and 2 from oil tank. Each has its own drain plug.
