Actually thought those features were May feature drops for entire Android ecosystem regardless of Android OEM waiting for next Android update. After referring AOSP release info most updates are for high priority exploits including WiFi, modem, mali & powerVR GPUs. We will see a bump in kernel update and hopefully with Android 15 pixel 6 onwards might migrate to Linux kernel 6.1 LTS to unify all devices under common upstream kernel and on par with PC Linux kernel.
They always raise their GKI LTS revision every quarterly & yearly release. It's normal routine.
The ASB and Pixel Update bulletins only list a subset of high profile vulnerabilities. I recommend reading the 14-QPR3 commit logs because it sounds like you just read the bulletins.
As for you thinking it was for everyone in the Android ecosystem. You are on the right train of thought. Any vendor can port their Android implementation to new quarterly and monthly releases. They just don't and use the bulletin backports, which doesn't cover recommended patches included in each stable release.
@@rythmater there were strict recommendations from Google to vendors to use their latest kernel updates for 5.10,5.15 and 6.1 since few vendors didn't apply the patches for modem and GPU exploits. I belive it was for March updates

Fixed in May but reported in March by GrapheneOS developers there was a major Bluetooth vulnerability in 14-QPR2 and likely present earlier Android 14 releases from Baseline 14 and 14-QPR1. Wasn't included in the ASB at all.
Its as if they encourage vendors to use unsupported baseline yearly releases and apply backports.
The Bluetooth bug is applicable to way more devices than just Pixels just like the rest of the Pixel Bulletin patches and vendors need to port to Android 15 to receive the fix in SEPTEMBER.

I felt you when you said you're not a fan of heights as you step on the glass floor. I had the same experience when I went to Calgary tower, I stepped over the glass floor thinking it's just a regular floor. As soon as I looked down, jeez my b@ll$ went up to my guts and like what am I doing here?😂😂😂

At the earliest Baseline Android 15 is what many people are expecting the desktop mode to enter a usable enough state.
Even though 14-QPR2 & 14-QPR3 have it as a dev preview option and by extension a lot of what is shipping with Android 15 just less maturely developed and disabled in the code through configuration flags. An example would be the per app screen recording feature. Shipped with 14-QPR2, but doesn't do anything because it isn't developed enough.
We can hope though. 🎉

I have a P7P and have gemini advanced, but I still don't have access to magic editor. I thought that was a May 15th release.
Click on edit from google photos you'll see the magic editor tool on the left.

Sounds like a small pixel drop.
I don't know if this related to the feature drop but my 8P has started malfunctioning. Apps lock up and I can't go to many web sites without restarting my phone. I haven't downloaded the update yet but I never had these problems before yesterday. Coincidence?

Worst case scenario is that there is an obscure hardware issue. Happened to a few other people while giving support to users, but they had more severe issues like full on kernel crashes. But I don't think it's the case.
I assume you are on the AP1A.240505.005 release and have the latest Play System, Store, Services updates along with all of your apps being up to date?
Alternatively you can backup your phone using Google One and any other data (available for free).
Maybe try to reflash the latest AP1A.240505.005 release via a factory image to get a clean slate using the web Android Flash Tool.
Only if you are okay with going into developer options and the bootloader interface.
Then you can load the Google backup and get your data back and see if things have improved.

I didn't receive the update on my Pixel 6 Pro since it was confirmed by Google. 1 or 2 days of waiting for the OTA Update is okay, but I'm waiting almost a week for it. I'm really annoyed by Google and this is definitely my last Pixel. Also the quality of the updates, especially the Feature Drops are for the older Pixel devices a disappointment.
Still not out yet tho. Should have been released on Monday. What's the delay!.🤔
It's not uncommon for Pixel feature drop updates like it is this month to be delayed till the 2nd week and in rare occasions 3rd week.

Quarterly and Yearly AOSP and Stock Pixel OS releases can lag a bit compared to the ASB posting. It will come out when Google deems it ready.
As for Google "being behind" Samsung when it comes to updates, they take different approaches.
Google ports/updates to new monthly, quarterly, and yearly releases. Doing this takes more work but they get recommended privacy and security patches not declared/required by the ASB to declare a new patch level. Meaning they get more complete security patches.
Samsung just essentially applies ASB backports and only stay on the baseline yearly AOSP release. It's less work than porting their One UI changes to new releases every month, but it means they have less security coverage.
The ASB only covers a small subset of high priority issues. Additionally many issues in the Pixel Bulletins apply to other devices than just Pixels.
Many Samsung devices (most prominently on their non-flagships) do not have some firmware and hardware security features that are on Pixels like MTE , a secure element (Branded as Knox Vault), USB controller port control etc... to just name a few.
When combined with the more incomplete patching, which is worse on their lower end devices and even premium tablets like the Tab S8. Samsung devices overall are less secure.

Being on Stable or Beta shouldn't normally apply when it comes to Pixel feature drop updates.

I've also had the edit feature enabled in Google Messages and I haven't received the Feature Drop like everyone else, but I am in the Google Messages Beta. It doesn't work for every RCS contact, just a couple currently, which is a touch frustrating.

This might sound crazy but did they bring back the battery statistics which showed number of charging cycles? People got really angry that Google removed it.
No the AOSP battery stats screen was accidentally released in 14-QPR1, and they have disabled it since 14-QPR2 released.
6 and 7th Gen Pixels also have an issue where the "Date of First Use" and "Battery Manufactured Date" are swapped.
To get the functionality back you can install an alternate OS that has the configuration flag for the battery statistics enabled like GrapheneOS or wait until Google announces an update on the feature for older devices.
I don't advise flashing an older 14-QPR1 release if you do take the flashing route.

There is no official AOSP or Stock Pixel OS release or supplemental Pixel Update Bulletin for 14-QPR3. This is normal with quarterly and yearly releases to lag a slight bit compared to the Android Security Bulletin posting.
Google will likely make a release within the next few days for Pixel users.
Other vendors use backported patches to raise the security patch level, so if you're not using a Pixel for the sake of the example, and lets say a Samsung S24, Samsung will apply the backports and select other patches. That approach is less robust than porting One UI to new AOSP releases every month to get all the recommended patches included in the latest stable AOSP releases. The vast majority not listed/required by the ASB.
One UI 6.1 is based on the October UP1A.231005.007 (Baseline 14) Android Open Source Project stable release.
Baseline 14, 14-QPR1, 14-QPR2 are no longer receiving active development and maintenance work and any releases based on them are unsupported.
Samsung may be sometimes faster when raising the ASB patch level, but they don't have the same coverage if they would have ported to new releases (which takes work, especially for quarterly releases due to the new development model), but by merit their approach to security updates is less secure.
