and this is why Gary Payton said Stockton was the hardest player he ever competed against because stock looked like an innocent guy but he didn't take no shit and he was tough
Stockton was a master at gaining a physical advantage over bigger players by disguising illegal moves perfectly. He had this move where he would drive into the defenders body, grab his forearm, and pull it to slingshot himself right by and towards the basket. The refs would never see it. It drove defenders crazy, but it was a perfect move. Even here, he drives right up into Jordan’s chest, and when Jordan he pushes back he has a perfectly timed flop to sell the foul. He got into Jordan’s head doing that. Little things like that were basketball artistry.

I always wondered why people called Stockton dirty and I've even seen this clip before, but if you look closely, Stockton jabs Jordon with an elbow. I saw another clip of Stockton doing it yesterday, too, but YT doesn't let you link to other videos on the comments I think.
Stock was a master at getting players frustrated. People don’t realize that if Stockton wanted to he could go for 30 pts night, but he was a pure point guard that’s why he is the assist master
He really was. That's what made his NBA career coming out of Long Beach St. People just remember the shot to end the '98 Finals, but he really was a sound defender. That & he developed his 3-point shot. Was pretty dismal coming into the League but ended up with a career 37% average. He was a Jerry Sloan guy.
Stockton was old school, no fancy dribble, shoot or pass but all fundamental, you get your ass lazy he will steal you, thrown killer pass in front your face, made a 3pts.. Stockton to Malone oh yeah baby.. In 1998 playoff they swept 61-21 Lakers with Shaq, Kobe, Van exel, Eddie Jones, Horry, they crushed 56-26 Spurs with the twin tower Robinson and Duncan, they beat Rockets with Hakeem, Barkley, Drexler, they beat Bulls 2-0 in regular season and gave us a thrilling 4-2 Finals.. In 1997 playoff they beat 57-25 Rockets and 56-26 LA, they were beast..

Jordan always going for the okie doke. Stockton was tough as nails. Set more effective picks than most big men and rolled off them pretty well too when he had the ball.
0:40 Jordan might have pushed him a little, but Stockton flopped and sold it like he got hit really hard, and Jordan was pissed about it. And he was usually quiet but he's talking back to Mike all the way here.
stockton flopped but jordan got away with so much in his career its insane. and in the end the officials cheated the jazz out of two championships. one in which jordan fouls karle malone to steal the ball and then pushes off byron russel to win it and the officials didnt call nothin. give me a break.
+eduar ed hey eduar ed dude. if u dont like what I said then u need to eat that. whatever, in the end it was no call. jordan still clearly pushed off of russel. Which is still a foul. ohh this guy. see I can do that to. ur just a little youtube warrior insulting peoples comments online. if you dont agree thats cool. kerp to yourself clown
+jaboo82681 But Howard Eisley's 3 in the middle of the 2nd quarter where the ball was clearly out of his hands by about 15ft before the red buzzer went off, but got waived off by Dick Bavetta? What about the Ron Harper baseline runner going right w/ about 3min to go in the 4th quarter that was counted (replays showed the ball was clearly still in his hand when the red buzzer went off)?
+Kc W The Malone strip was clearly not a foul. The Russell 'push off' is debatable. Jordan crossed him over and Russell slipped and gravity took over. One clear mistake by the refs is the Shandon Anderson miss late in game 6 in 1997. Pippen grabbed the rim and hung on, enough for the rim to rattle and mess with Anderson's layup attempt.

Ulysses432 is a team sport, how can jordan be the best nba player ever? Hes arguably the best shooting guard ever. To say anything else shows how little u know about the nba
The early years vs the Pistons and Knicks were a different story and maybe much of the reason for the later quicker whistles.
Respect to John. Jordan would've one shot him but he stood his ground.
And he keeps his cool and makes his freetrows 💪💪
Makes his freetrows and got NO titles. Due to MJ23GOAT.
Damn russell was great defender👍🏻
He really was. That's what made his NBA career coming out of Long Beach St. People just remember the shot to end the '98 Finals, but he really was a sound defender. That & he developed his 3-point shot. Was pretty dismal coming into the League but ended up with a career 37% average. He was a Jerry Sloan guy.
If we can go back to the 90s and mic up those games I would pay anything to hear the trash talk on those courts
Everytime I watch Stockton he reminds me of the movie Teen Wolf with Michael J Fox with those assist. That man is deadly with the assist game.
who doesn't love 90s basketball #GreatEra
Anything happened, Malone will back Stockton up! Hahaha!
Pick and roll...
@@dennistyler8746 Pick and no title. Due to MJ23GOAT.
Imagine those 2 playing together
Jordan knew who to play tough with and who not too...
In todays game this will be both technical fouls...smh
Change the title to the 🐐 PG vs. the 🐐 SG.
John Stockton was a Great Player. Wilt Chamberlain said " He's the best point guard to ever play the game "
Stock! Not backing down! That's what I'm talking about! Show Jordan that he ain't special.👍
Hclown obviously he was special cuz he didn’t them to get no rings
Stockton wasnt taking that shit. He didnt care who you were on that court. Even the biggest trash talker , Gary Payton , respected Stockton. Jordan did too. Dream Team.
Stockton played a Rodman on MJ 😆
Stockton was hard nosed
Jordan is so soft he calls Stockton dirty just for setting a legal screen.
John gave MJ a sneaky little elbow to the body if you watch the replay closely... Rodman did call John one of the dirtiest players ever and Rodman should know... LOL... also Steve Kerr, of all people, called John a "dirty bastard." hahaha
Jordan always going for the okie doke. Stockton was tough as nails. Set more effective picks than most big men and rolled off them pretty well too when he had the ball.
Stock tricked everyone MJ like dam man y’all ain’t see em go for an Oscar with that move lol
0:40 Jordan might have pushed him a little, but Stockton flopped and sold it like he got hit really hard, and Jordan was pissed about it. I remember Stockton being pretty good at flopping and making contact look worse than it was. And it got under Mike's skin here and Stockton got the Free Throw he wanted. And he was usually quiet but he's talking back to Mike all the way here.
Yes and mj pushed him because he dug his arm into him as he threw the pass
stockton flopped but jordan got away with so much in his career its insane. and in the end the officials cheated the jazz out of two championships. one in which jordan fouls karle malone to steal the ball and then pushes off byron russel to win it and the officials didnt call nothin. give me a break.
+eduar ed jordan still pushed off of the guy at the end to win it.. jee wizz
+WESTSIDEmixtapes lol
Jordan said gust for that I'm locking u down
John Stockton FOREVER THE BEST GUARD
Sure. Stockton was one of the best at fouling opponents with a slight “chicken wing” block and having the player react and they getting the foul. For better or worse, Stockton new what he was doing.
that would be double techs and a flagrant today lol
Lol if John Stockton is talking back, u did something wrong........
