Someone in my guitar community just got this model in this color scheme. It’s literally the prettiest guitar I’ve ever seen in my life. It’s THE guitar.
Hi Mary, I am learning about this new line myself but I think the painted models use Alder for the base wood. The roasted pine is featured in the translucent finishes to replace Ash bodies. Sounds great and keep on keeping on!
I need to say that I watched this video last night. I got totally inspired to pick up my Strat and I had one of the best jam sessions I’ve had in months!
@@VIDS2013 Lotta people say that, including a lot of my guitar-playing friends. But it has a lot to do with what the amp is and how the EQ is set. You can make Texas Special pickups sound very bell-like through an HX Stomp, for example. That said, the Texas Special pickups were designed to sound aggressive (like Stevie Ray.)
Nice song, and great tone. I’m a long time Strat player, and I purchased a “Shawbucker” Strat when they came out in 2016. I love that guitar. Fender’s Pro series guitars are amongst the best they’ve ever made. The Strat you are playing sounds great!
For those not fortunate enough, don’t discount the classic vibes too. I went in this weekend to pickup my fender player ... and the vibe played and sounded spectacular. Second time this has happened to me. Super happy and yes ... nothing comes close to the crispy design of fender. Nice Mary ... thanks for showing us the Pro.
This reverse burst finish is probably the most innovative zhing fender or any guitar company has come up with for the last decades. The idea behind it is so simple, yet ingenious.
I have it on my 89 strat plus. I am not even sure what Fender calls it but it caught my eye when I saw this video. My strat has the maple neck and I added a white pearl pick guard.
The "reverse burst" isn't reversed. It's literally dark blue inside blue outside. There's a website called Halo. You go there and you can basically create your own custom guitar and play with the color features and you can definitely do that. I made some models already for my blueprints to my future company
@@alienlover7556 i know and i meant that as a reference to the original idea behind that fender finish from going from a bright base colour to a darker tone on top on the edge
Mary, its a beautiful Strat and sounds fantastic! I own 6 Strats and after seeing this I would love to own 7. I have to restrain myself!!!!!!! Not easy with guitars............
I got one of these 3 months ago (Dark Night and Rosewood). Always wanted an American Fender Strat ( I have a 3 year old Modern Player Tele). My wife convinced me to get it. Yes, I know, that may be a shocker to some of you married folks. Mary is right. The looks of it is more stunning in person. I find myself staring at it at times, just admiring the beauty. It plays great and sometimes hard to put down. Super comfortable and great tone.
That is a great looking, and sounding guitar!!! I currently have 3 Strats (SRV Signature, 60th Anniversary Strat, and an old Mexican Starter Strat), and I now want a fourth.
There's a $300 difference between the American-made Performer and the American-Made Professional II. For your $300, you get better pickups, a slightly different neck shape, rolled fretboard edges, a slightly improved trem system, a treble bleed circuit, and a hard shell case. Uh... yeah, actually, that's a pretty decent deal, assuming you like the pickups and the changes. But the Performer has jumbo frets and the Professional II has narrow tall frets. That'd be a factor, too.
The Pro is a bit of an odd range (for bass) as it's 5 to 600 quid more expensive than the Performer in the UK, but not really worth that much extra. Especially as it's the same price as the Ultra. Can't comment on the Strat but my Performer P bass is better than the Pro (in my opinion) and I love the tone from the Grease bucket circuit. The only pluses for Pro were hard case and graphite rods. But then I wanted a PJ so the Pro wasn't an option anyway,
@@rajamcraja Fender Custom Shop Texas Special pickups alone cost $200. A good hardshell case might be around $100, more or less depending on one's opinion. It costs money to pay someone to roll the fretboard edges and add the treble bleed, the trem might cost a little more.
If you have to create a new neck profile, that means paying someone to write the software for the CNC, which costs money... unless you already have the neck profile worked out from a different model.
All of that said, rolling the edge of the fretboard requires so little time and effort that I don't understand why companies don't do it on all models, unless they reserve it as an "advanced" feature that you can charge more money for. Which is likely.
Something I love about all of your videos is how clear, concise and well-spoken you are. Also, there is something extremely soothing about the way that you speak and sing. As a long time Stratocaster player I have to say This is a Beauty... Congratulations, wow! The Push Knob feature is genius, a Fender version on the idea David Gilmour had devised on his old Black Strat with a mini toggle switch just below the volume knob, This push knob design may be more user friendly.
Switch positions 2 and 4 are my favorite. Nice Mark Knopfler tones. Put a humbucker in the bridge position and move that volume control out of my way like a tele has, then I'll get one.
My 97 California Strat has a bridge humbucker. I invited a guitarist pal to play her on a break at a tiki bar in July, where he'd just played his Tele for an hour. When he switched to Bridge, you should've seen the look on his face. He said there are songs he likes on a Tele, & others he likes on a Strat, but he plays one or the other in a set so he doesn't have to drag 3 guitars (he always has a Les Paul). He said she's tge sweetest-sounding Strat he ever played. Now he wants one.
Nice color sounds bright looks like the pick ups are different from my American standard I wonder what amp you are using sounds great nice diddy you are playing big fan keep rocking 🤩👍
Randy, there were quite a few different pickup types fitted to American Standard Strats over the years as I’m sure you know (mine from 2013 has Custom Shop Fat 50s as standard for example) but since the first American Pro Series the construction has definitely been different again with the main design concept difference being the mix of Alnico magnet types for the wound vs unwound strings (which they named the V-Mod pickups at that time). It seems the pickups in these new American Pro II guitars are just a relatively small tweak compared to the ones in the outgoing American Pro series (seemingly a reprogrammed machine coil wind pattern is the change that has been made) and Fender are calling them V-Mod II pickups... which seems quite logical. 😛 The previous design feature of the different magnet types remains on these new pickups.
I know I want a Stratocaster. I really want that classic chiming, bell like sound. But, I'm so torn between the Pro 2 in Dark Night, or the Ultra in Texas Tea. It's too much money to make a bad decision. UGH.
I have a 15 year old SSS American Standard Strat, so not ancient but certainly played a lot and mellowed. It is a similarly motivated version as that one you have here, so it’s different but same basic “species”. The short of it is that I could never get rid of this guitar. I also have a similarly irreplaceable vintage telecaster I bought a very long time ago. Other guitars have come and gone, I liked all of them, some were even excellent. There is just something, at least about the two particular Fenders I somehow landed on, that is different, special, and personal. They sound and play so great. The feel is familiar, welcoming, amazing. Fenders are industrial high art too and were a conceptually inspired critical point in their time. They age well too and there is something about that in particular. There is a similar relationship with my mellowing pretty old Martin D-28. I’m not prone to this sort of animism thing, but lots of stuff has come and gone in my life over the years and these three players won’t be going anywhere. I hope you have found something like that here, it’s a super good thing if you have!
So you got one for free....right after they saw you try out the PRS Silver sky. 'Better get her on board soon!', they must have thought at Fender. Still, I am happy for you.
If I ever had that kind of money to spare, I would get one of these myself and with this finish... I would likely play it so much that the strings would die in a week lol. It is a beautiful guitar, too bad its price is about 1500 ish above what I could afford lol. I hope they keep that finish around, the black and blue reverse burst will look really good on many other guitars as well, I hope this one sells well enough to warrant them making it part of there normal color selections. Also, that was some really good playing you did there, I recognize talent, especially when it is talent way beyond anything I could ever muster lol. The sheer amount of work that you must have put into it, is just staggering. Keep up the good work :)
@@michaelm4464 While it is true that the Fender Stratocaster is one of the most played electric guitars of all time, that does not mean this particular one will be as widely used. I was mainly talking about the finish its self, because I would like to see more guitars in general with finishes like this one.
@your mom Although such a thing would be a very nice thing to do, I am guessing that you are joking. Partly because of your account name, and partly because you called me a peasant :) I didn't mention me not having enough spare money for such nice things because I wanted anyone to offer or even buy me a guitar, I did so more too point out that this guitar is expensive from my perspective. I don't mind being as broke as I am, I am a disabled vet, so I can no longer work and because of that I don't expect to be able to afford nice things like this guitar. In life I make just enough money from the V.A. to pay my bills and eat the cheapest food most days of the month. I survive, and anything else more than that, I would feel as if I were being greedy. So, if your comment was in any way serious, which I doubt it was, thank you for such a offer of Mr. Rich, but you don't have to do such a nice thing for this Peasant. Of course I would not turn down such a gift, due to my being raised that it is rude to turn down gifts, I will not attempt to hold you too such a offer, considering it was likely meant more as a insult and joke than a actual offer. I hope all is well, lfaf
Always a pleasure to see and hear you, Mary. The new Strat looks and sounds great! Leo Fender got it mostly right in the original design, and most of the improvements since are incremental. My '86, purchased new, still looks and sounds good, many years later. Take care of it, and your new Strat will likely look and sound good decades hence.
When I saw this colour I instantly fell in love. Now I know this is the one. Just a question of time till I save some money. It's very pleasing to finally have in mind the ultimate guitar for me. Love everything about this strat. Thanks for the demo. Keep on keeping on
sad that most of the comments are about where the guitar sits compared to other guitars , yet no one has said how great the player is and the singing ? , the guitar only sounds great when in the hands of a great player , if mary was playing a squier strat it would still sound great

And, Mary, you have the all important fatter AND wider neck (at the nut) PLUS 22 frets. While I enjoyed my Deluxe Player Strat for years, I’ve grown tired of the thin, skinny neck. Tim Shaw's redesign on these new pickups sound REALLY GOOD on every model: Strat, Tele, and JazzMaster, to my ear.

I’ve got the same guitar in HSS. I love it. It’s great for Eddie VH riffs.
I know I want a Stratocaster. I really want that classic chiming, bell like sound. But, I'm so torn between the Pro 2 in Dark Night, or the Ultra in Texas Tea. It's too much money to make a bad decision. UGH.
Dark knight with maple neck works for me.
Nice to see someone NOT shredding for a change.
Enjoy watching you play and sing. Thanks
So you got one for free....right after they saw you try out the PRS Silver sky. 'Better get her on board soon!', they must have thought at Fender. Still, I am happy for you.
You're an extremely skilled musician, I wish you great success.
Considering the fact that she mentioned in the video that it's the most played guitar of all time, I'd say it will sell enough to warrant more.

While it is true that the Fender Stratocaster is one of the most played electric guitars of all time, that does not mean this particular one will be as widely used. I was mainly talking about the finish its self, because I would like to see more guitars in general with finishes like this one.
@your mom
Although such a thing would be a very nice thing to do, I am guessing that you are joking.
I hope all is well,
lfaf
Mine just got shipped, I got the HSS. Can't wait to play with it.
Love the Dark Knight color. Don't know why reverse bursts never caught on.
I broke down and picked up the HSS model. I really couldn't be happier with it.
Person 1: hey, sick strat...
Person 2: did you just assume my Fender?
beautiful organic vocals marry with solo guitar awesone you should do it more
I sold my over priced American Fender Strat when I bought a Vester Tradition Series 57' Strat.
I own the candy apple red Strat Am Pro and it's one of the finest guitars I've ever played, that dark night and the new electronics are awesome.
Who were your influences in your finger picking style? I noticed in this video some of what I would believe to be a lot of Mark Knopfler.
You too, huh? I was hearing Sultans Of Swing tones, for sure. But I don't hear Mark Knopfler when she sings, tee hee.
Spent a few days in Nashville TN, two weeks ago and had a chance to play the telecaster version pro 2. Loved it...and own it!!
Please play "The wind cries Mary by Hendrix" :D
It was so great hearing you rock out & sing- Very inspiring to see you enjoying your musical artistry so much.
"Honey, what do you want for breakfast?" - "Just a touch of Bridge, please" :)
Mary Spender plays a Fender until the sun goes down.
Push push rock n’ Roll
Demonstrating soul
Give us more Ms. Spender
...just like Bobby Orr.
Fender never makes a bad product. I’m a fan.
The acoustasonic would beg to differ 😂. But totally agree they make amazing instruments overall and you just can't beat a strat!
I love that new finish! And Mary, you NEED a Fender Strat!!
Mary’s voice is 10k times better than Stratocaster voice. I state this and I’m a Stratocaster lover, so...
I could listen to Mary speak for hours (even financial news).
I like her speaking voice but don't like her singing voice for some reason.
That's what human voices tend to do to human ears and why a lot of great blues guitar players are singers.
It's like apple, people need the new one when they didn't even need their previous one.
When I saw this colour I instantly fell in love. Now I know this is the one. Just a question of time till I save some money. It's very pleasing to finally have in mind the ultimate guitar for me. Love everything about this strat. Thanks for the demo. Keep on keeping on
sad that most of the comments are about where the guitar sits compared to other guitars , yet no one has said how great the player is and the singing ? , the guitar only sounds great when in the hands of a great player , if mary was playing a squier strat it would still sound great
wow..haven't been here a while...now almost 400k subscribers...congratulations Ms.S
Sad that they dropped the Jaguar in the American Professional line, but maybe that means my older one will become more valuable over time?
Yeah hopefully
They did? That sucks
im really hyped fpr the jazz master tho, i like them way more than the jaguar
That guitar is breathtaking. Lovely tone and colour. I would love to pick up a HSS version someday.
"I've got to be honest..." Uh huh. Yup.
😆
Loved watching this. Beautiful vocals and great demo of the tones available on this guitar. Thank you.
I like this channel, but I’m not wild about commercials being presented as “content”.
Yeah, it's pretty obvious too since all the guitar UA-camrs are publishing videos about this new line of guitars
I think her real future is in sales for a large corporation. She could sell ice to Inuits.
Thank you for saying it. I was scratching my head at the beginning thinking this is a plug not a review.
Get over yourself Cranky. This is not presented as a review. It's a demo.
that color is amazing, love the dark pick guard and neck. love the look so much.
I really hate that finish. I just ordered my AmProII Jazzmaster in Mystic Seafoam. A lot of people seem to like the Dark Night finish. It’s just not for me.
Seafoam lucky you 🎸
Mystic Seafoam is friggin' GORGEOUS
I'm really into this color with the rosewood board!
Again, A great product, but don't sound like that at all in my hand ;(
It's like I just get broken instruments all the time...
The Black Night colour is awesome!
Request: Play something on acoustic guitar while you're upside down?
Why?
I'm not even talking to you. I bet Mary wishes she'd respond.
Request: Don't make dumb requests.
That Dark Night (i fell in love with that color at the first sight) fits your outfit perfectly! True, Fender had make the Strat better, no more soldering for hours - great sound out of the box. Thx for your playing and stay safe ☮️
why is nobody talking about how beautiful she sings
I can't wait, my mercury color is to be delivered today. I am sooo stoked!
That's a beautiful blue. They got it right!!! $1500 is the sweet spot for a good working guitar.. Nice.
Pairs perfectly with your voice! Great combination! Color sounds good on you!
That is one of the nicest finishes I’ve ever seen
Awesome, my Dark Night with maple fingerboard is being delivered tomorrow, I cannot wait :)
Love that finish. In your skilled hands, it sounds great. Hope she serves you well.
Definitely a Strat. I was feeling a little Knopfler/Dire Straits tone. Gorgeous color
Your song put a smile 😊 on my face. I bought the mystic surf green rosewood. Love it.
Thank you for this great review! I love the color and I'm curious to see it in person. Since I started watching your videos I got inspired to end my long hiatus from taking guitar lessons. I took my guitar to the shop last Saturday for a full cleanup and calibration, now it's up and running! Time to start again :)
Such a beautiful voice
