- This edition of Japan Journal features an exclusive interview with the legendary Jazz vocalist, Little Jimmy Scott. It is the latest in the Totown Digital Media Jazz Masters series for DVD. After years of obscurity, Scott is back on the scene and performing globally. He is in his eighties and still going strong. This interview was conducted by Japan Journal host, Mal Adams, back stage at the Iridium Jazz Club in midtown Manhattan, N.Y. City.
It is one of my greatest interview opportunities of my 45 year career of doing this. I rank this one right up there with Dizzy Gillespie and Miles Davis. Little Jimmy Scott has no rival in what he does. He is simply the greatest. Period. Thank you and thanks to Jeanie Scott for giving me this opportunity.

RIP. his voice was always in heaven. he's there with it now.
RIP Jimmy, you were such a rare gem!
Rest easy Jimmy, and thank you! - I found about about Mr. Scott thru his work with
Lou Reed in 1992 on the album
Magic And Loss.
@IBcutiepie Thank you so much for watching. Please stay tuned to this channel. The real credit goes to Mr. Scott's wonderful partner and wife, Jeanie Scott, who had the faith in me to entrust me with this important musical icon.
Seems like just another video interview, but forget it, this is an icon, captured for us to treasure on youtube.
I interviewed Little Jimmy early on for my book Death of a Bebop Wife and the "person" who he was with, at the time, kept him in the dark. Thank God Jeannie, magical wonder and icon in her own right, treasures the wonderous talent of her darling. God wants us all to revere and treasure the purity, tenderness, heartbreak and soul of a surviving American Treasure. I loooove this man
shivabala,
Jimmy moved from Newark back to Cleveland in 1996 for 10 years before we moved to Las Vegas in 2006.
This interview was actually September 2006.

Just found this guy. He's awesome!
The Jewish agent-producer exploitation of Black recording artists in the early rhythm and blues era of the 1940s and 1950s (and later) was predominant and widespread, entrenching a Black hostility among many to their Jewish financial controllers to the present day. One among many Jewish entrepreneurs who founded record labels featuring mainly Black talent was Herman Lubinsky (Savoy Records) about whom the question was raised. There are many more from this group who are guilty of the same racism.
love this....I need more and more.......love music .....people such as lil Jimmy S.....your the best babie....
Keep dropping the truth Bro Mal !! Master Jimmy Scott influenced ALL OF THE great female singers of the 40's and 50's. Is he still living in Newark? Please help our Master musician to get work in Japan. Thanks for all of your great work....
What a great singing talent! So romantic and with so much feeling. Just learned about Little Jimmy today after I was looking up more info about Kallmann syndrome. He has made himself a great life and legacy, despite his challenges. :D

WTF, was the need to point out the "Jewish" names/people. Glad Jimmie did not jump on that. Hate fucking racists from any group.
The exploitive relationship between the named person and others of his ilk in the industry and Black musicians is a tragic fact of history and needs to be exposed and atoned for. Don't blame the messenger. Do your research if you doubt the history of this relationship. It is documented. The need to point it out is to expose it so that it never happens again. If you hate racists then hate the perpetrators of this travesty because it is true. Jimmie verified it in this interview by describing the exploitation of himself and others in the business at the hands of these racist Devils.
