I like how the clean pack arrangement and the small footprint is juxtaposed with the old big polluting peaker plant that these packs are basically replacing.
Appreciate the update and love the video, but be careful with the FAA and/or DHS...i don't think they would like people flying drones close to power plants!
We always talked about needing a way to store green energy and now Tesla is starting to take the lead with these glorious pack installations. Can’t wait to hear about more of these packs coming online locally. CA will finally stop selling it’s excess solar LOL
I count 224 mega packs so yeah, the biggest right now. Just wait.... In 5 years they'll have 500+ battery farms. And it does matter the power source. Crazy development, changed the game.
"Oh, no. We can't dare spend money to improve the reliability of the grid in California, because it might mean my taxes or electric bill might go up!" PG&E is a private entity, is it not? That means PG&E is the one spending the money. Once that battery farm is in operation to replace that peaker plant, it'll save PG&E quite a bit of money, as those peaker plants are extremely expensive to run, since they're idle most of the time.
@@DigitalM_M that'll be odd. Because battery packs are designed to capture renewable energy generated and store it. And I dont see any windmill or solar installations in the video.
@@alexng4 no solar or wind anywhere near it that I know of, unless it was built without telling the locals. I live about 5 mins from moss landing. That natural gas plant is the only power around that I know of
@@DigitalM_M hmm...interesting..so is that natural gas plant one of those peaker plants? Because Tesla's mission is to replace fossil fuel peaker plants with tesla energy storage combined with renewable energy source generated. So this would be a rather odd pairing.
THIS is the main reason I'm a TSLA investor into the future. Grid storage is going to be huge!

Great video of the progress at Moss Landing. As an EE, I would LOVE to get a hard hat tour...
This is awesome :D Thanks for the video!

A first for me. Very informative. Thanks from GigaAustin 🤠

What Tesla's doing can only be conveyed through watching their work directly and blaring Ride of the Valkyries.
Everybody is sleeping on Tesla Energy
Not everybody. Bought more $TSLA this morning.
So at a 182 MW this should make it the largest battery of this kind in the world right?
730 MWh!!! It's the largest by a huge margin!

Amazing. 💯👊
Are you going to post a final update video?
I should probably do at least one more vid to see the final form. I will try to get one done in the next week or two.

TSLA to the moon 🚀🚀
I'm just curious who's putting the bill in this Mega battery storage set up is it the taxpayer or did Elon Musk foot the bill himself just curious?

It is mainly renewable power investors fronting the $.
where is the megapack getting the energy from?
The plant next to it I imagine. And if I'm not mistaken that plant is natural gas based. Could be wrong

@@alexng4 the "Moss landing power plant" wiki page will serve you much better than what I know offhand. Talks about the power storage as well.
BWW, Audi, Mercedes are all doing this as well. Oh wait, they're not!
