Blair came out with simple milk and eggs formulations which is still basics of protein powders today. He even introduced amino acids to bodybuilders in 70s. Also to remember is the food quality of that time which i think is far more superior then today, top with that with high quality anabolics and u r bound to grow.

I'm definitely going to order that Don Howorth booklet ! What a classic physique! Rheo Blair was WAY ahead of his time - as he and Vince Gironda often said "90% of Bodybuilding is Nutrition " !

Great video. I’m 55 and been lifting the weight since 78 naturally. To this day I still have a protein shake and banana after my workout. For about the last year though I’ve been using a whey protein isolate using half and half milk.

Don Howorth was truly phenomenal! I love his cameo appearance on The Wild, Wild West (as seen on UA-cam). He looks even bigger than in most of his photos when alongside the relatively skinny Robert Conrad ("Jim West") With his handsome looks he could easily have made a lot of money as an actor but I understand he was pretty shy so this line of work did not appeal to him. I guess the same was true of Dave Draper! Too bad. I'd like to be able to see more of these bodybuilding legends. Maybe it took an egomaniac like Arnold to break thru in a big way in show business!

Excellent video, a true time of change to modern bodybuilding. Blairs products were ahead of their time. I purchased them from Sergio Oliva at Duncan St. YMCA back in the early 70's. Honest supplements.

Anyone remember Hot Stuff protein powder? The new stuff is not the same formula. I heard it had some precursors in it or something and they took it off the market? It sure worked good.

More than that i pretty sure it had dbol in it or some other steriod. Most likely to get people hooked on it. I swear the Dan Duchaine original Untimate Orange had meth in it. Thing a bout supplement FDA cant test every bacth anyone can create a lable slap it on a bottle say its creatine spike it with something illegal get people hooked.

Hmmm, does Don have a foundation site or a GoFundMe? Wondering how you will manage to send over proceeds of his books to him .
Wish there was a few samples lying around to finally give me the opportunity to try Rheo Blairs protein product (althogh 50+ years later, doubt it will taste much good anymore lol) . I know of the hype behind it through Ric Drasin, Reg Lewis, Jerry Branium , etc. .
They all said it was the best they have ever tried (especially compared to that Weider products)
Just look at that basic fundamental 'supplement' list - enzymes, liver tabs, aminos, . . nothing over the top. Same thing i've been on for a year now, except the added aminos.
Great vid again! Really enjoyed this one.

    Wow. Another great video brother.
Just a question for anyone. I know the synergy with the heavy wipping cream and protien. Most all these guys followed what we call a keto diet today. Has anyone actually replaced some of the whipping cream in the shakes with some type of oil i.e flax oil or like avocado oil. Table spoon of the oil has approximately twice the fat and calories vs whipping cream. Just to change things up ?

I use a low-carb, high-fat shake that incorporates flax seed oil with heavy whipping cream. Got it from a criticalbench.com download "Muscle Overload Training" I believe it was called, few years back. Also had a nice milk-based Growth Protein drink I use during the carb loading phase. Using Mauro Di Pasquale's Anabolic Phase Shift diet for last 5- years, bloods have hardly changed at all.

Just to clarify. The diet being high protein stopped it from being ketogenic it was more just a low carb diet. You can as a bodybuilder do a higher percentage than the normal 20% protein 5% carb 75% fat that you would normally do on keto, but the issue is if you push it too far on the protein side the body comes out of ketosis (can't remember the in/out of the process but it's along the lines of excess protein being converted to sugars. Great vid as usual besides. Don H was jacked!
