This is a genuinely a very underrated film. Mel Gibson was absolutely fantastic, all the acting was surprisingly good. I have never cried at an ending that much since The Last of Us.

Mel is seriously one of the greatest actors of all time. You can't argue with Braveheart, Lethal Weapon, Ransom, Signs, The Patriot, and Mad Max.

Sure it's a cliche story, but man do I love how Mel does physical acting. His body movement and facial expressions, you can feel what he's feeling! I know he did crazy messed up stuff, but I'm just referring to his acting ability. Glad to see that he hasn't lost his touch

I hope you're right about that. Mel has made some big mistakes, but he's human like the rest of us and I still think he's a good person inside. He's done a lot in the last few years to change, and I hope Hacksaw Ridge will be his comeback. Hollywood is devoid of good directors these days, and Mel could bring us some great, epic movies if he's allowed.

Exactly, Mel is Max, case closed, it's the role that brought him to stardom. It would have been nice for fans of Max/Mel if George Miller had created another character if they wished to continue telling stories in this 'Wasteland universe', at least while Gibson is alive, or still able to act.
There's plenty of people out there with their own stories to tell, just my opinion..
Victor Castro I agree. It would have been nice to see a direct sequel to Thunder Dome. Remember the last scene. When Mad max was wondering the wasteland, looking for the distant light. Maybe have Savannah's character return as the queen of the City that was build among the ruins of Sydney. Also, half of the children were still in the desert. It realy gives that sense of ancient tribal migration, where people migrate out of one region & evolve totally separate from eachother, not knowing that they originated from the same tribe. A very deep story could have been written for this sequel. Perhaps Bartertown could have had a war with the ruins of Sydney city, and Mad max could have wandered in along with the lost tribe & saved the day.
It's high time to give Mel Gibson an Oscar for his acting.

Could be a shot to the knee.
Could argue that you can tell his eyes looked up (so he wasn't dead) and maybe the shot wasn't a kill shot, a plot twist, that scene will be cut from the actual movie and he isn't dead OR it was a very clever cut to another car/trunk scene.
Finally; they are starting to let Mel Gibson off the leash. Now this is a movie, that I'll pay retail prices to see.

I wish Mel would do a movie on the Creek Indians & the battle of Horseshoe Bend, because I like the way he did Apocolypto. Or a movie about Hiawatha & the Mohawk/Onondonga Civil war.

julianwelton Yea I understand. But look up the Battle of Horseshoe Bend 800 dead in the most epic battle. Andrew Jackson, Davy Crockett, and Cherokees VS. The Creeks making a last stand. & all the history that lead up to the battle is very deep.......... Also look up Hiawatha. He was born from a virgin mother & grew up to bring peace to two tribes that were at war for generations. It's basically the native American version of Midevil Europe.
He directed a WW2 movie due out in November this year, Hacksaw Ridge, no trailer yet.

Wow I was never really a big fan of Mel Gibson before I saw this but I LOVED his acting in this movie. When he has the full facial hair, he can play the big, burly, ex-con badass pretty well.

They are estranged for some reason, what the daughter needs the father has and he saves her.
Keven Costner does a couple 3 days to kill is one.
This is my favorite.
I have a daughter we are kind of estranged after I divorced her mother.
These movies heal me psychology and the love a father has for his daughter is naturally one to protect.
This film explores that aspect well.
