David Draiman of Disturbed, and ex-Filter guitarist Geno Lenardo recently collaborated together to construct Device. The album takes strands from hard rock, industrial, and electronica, and as a result, Device's self-titled debut album for Warner Bros. Records is a focused, fierce, and fiery new machine.
It all started while the Grammy Award-nominated multiplatinum powerhouse Disturbed was on hiatus, Lenardo reached out to Draiman to collaborate on a song for the Underworld: Awakening soundtrack in late 2011. As soon as the singer heard the music, he was both intrigued and inspired. The duo then cut "Hunted" in Chicago. Even though the track didn't ultimately make the final soundtrack album due to circumstances beyond their control, Draiman urged that they hold on to it and continue writing music. Soon, they had an entire album's worth of material.
Upon finishing the record, Draiman enlisted Evanescence drummer Will Hunt and Dope and Rock of Ages guitarist Virus. Both Hunt and Virus jumped at the chance to be a part of this powerhouse trio. The three comprise the touring incarnation of Device.
David Draiman and Lzzy Hale together in one song... just WOW
Their voices fit so well together.
They fucking nailed it! Hard one to top!
I love the contrast between Lizzy Hale's voice and David's, the first time i heard it i got a tingiling feeling up my spine!
Props to David and Lizzy, they did a great job with this cover. I think Ozzy and Lita would be proud!!
This song is brilliant. Both Lzzy and David perform this cover extremely well. I'll be listening to this for a long time.
The first time I heard this I didnt know it was a cover.
10 YEARS LATER. Are you still listening to this song?
Hey! You still listening? 10 years is a long time 😂
He sounds almost like Ozzy osbourne! I remembered this song back in the 1989..It was popular my favorite.
Ozzy osbourne and lita ford would be proud of both of you!
Perfect fit
I don't know what I'm more shocked at... the fact that David and Lzzy are singing in a song together, or the fact that they did a cover of my FAVORITE FUCKING OZZY OSBOURNE SONG!!!
God... I don't know whom I like more right now. David and Lzzy or Ozzy and Lita...
Feel free to love ´em all!
***** I know, what I meant was the song is one of my favorite songs with Ozzy. Bad wording, I know. Sue me. ;)
It's a really good cover for sure.
decent cover, but I prefer the original.
I'm only just discovering this and I fucking love it!
same here
Nope, me too! (about two years later)
DUDE! 😳 WTF?!?! WHY AM I ALWAYS THE LAST ONE TO FIND OUT ABOUT SONGS LIKE THIS!!! THIS IS F*CKING AMAZING!🤘
You found it and that's what counts,my bro!
the whole cd is awesome and only proves even more how awesome of a singer Draiman is and his ability to collaborate with other singers. so few have that ability to be completely awesome solo and yet still be able to be in a chorus with another singer without overpowering them.
Tell about it! Only took me 11 years!
Have you heard the original though?
I love David Draiman, and I love Lzzy Hale, my heart rate just tripled. This can't be healthy...I have been listening to this song for nearly 3 years now and it still makes my heart pace faster than usual.
both versions have impact in their respective time periods. Having witnessed both, neither one is better than the other. Both kick ass.
yeah, thats the pussy answer now admit the truth, the original cannot even grasp daves greatness
TheHortoman As both a fan of David and Lizzy, they wish they could touch the talents of Lita and Ozzy. Sorry, not sorry. The Prince of Darkness will forever be just that, nothing less.
Dave is better than Ozzy, even though I love both of their music.
Anthony Hallowich took the words straight from my thoughts
Listen to Todd Hoffman's cover
Holy crap... I got chills as soon as I heard Lzzy's voice.
Como essa banda não vingou porra!!!! Lembro como se fosse hoje a primeira vez que a ouvi,me vem muitas memórias boas quando volto a ouví-la.
The original will always have a place in my heart, but this is amazing. They take a classic and elevate it beyond what it was during its height
Fkn WORD.
I grew up listening to Lita and Ozzy. I think Lzzy and Draiman did an awesome job of covering an awesome song. My copy has been pre ordered.
This collaboration is a amazing. I never would have thought David's voice would do so well with this classic song. For all of you hating just remember you will never be able to touch this level of genius.
I would say seeing this with Maria Brink was incredible too. I was hoping Miss Hale would do it. But it was equally Incredible with Brink. Rock on the Range!
I love this song and its meaning no matter who sings it. Wether its Ozzy and Litta or David and Lzzy. So worth listening to no matter what. 👍
True enough
The original is one of my favorite songs of all time. And I think Dave and Lizzy did it justice. I was shocked when I saw it was on the album, and will be getting it ASAP.
This is one of the best covers of any song I've ever heard!
Two powerful voices with a powerful instrumental... It's a real powerful song!
Wow, she NAILS Lita's vocals. Sounds so much like her and I've never noticed that before.
I wish I could hit the like button a million times. David Draiman has always been such a huge inspiration to me, and the fact the he teamed with Lzzy freakin' Hale to do this is just amazing.
I've always been on the fence with covers. Sometimes the original is so great and should be left alone. I thought this applied here also but they knocked it out of the park. It has just as much power and passion, if not more than, the original.
JUST NOW heard this cover on an internet radio ... the sound and distortion was horrible ... and I was still able to sit with my eyes closed and LOVE it as much as Ozzy & Lita's version!!!! In a word .... EPIC!!!!
David Draiman just did it again!!! 3
David actually has a really good singing voice, would love to hear more like this
david is a good singer but lzzy really comes in and kills it lol she is such an awesome singer
agreed i am sooo in love with lzzy :}
garrett34dylan Izzy's good, but draiman is as unique as it gets!
the combination is perfect
they're both great!!!!!!!!
just saying i have seen her twice......... i love lzzy lol
Wrote this on my GF's account when i was very high. so let me continue it. Draiman does not think, in any way he is better than Ozzy. Ozzy is one huge inspiration for David, and he wanted to show that. Not every band covers songs to beat it. it's more to show the love and passion for the song. to release the feeling and excitation that it brings..
That is what a true cover should be. It's not a competition... It's love
Listened to both versions, appreciate both for their own reasons. Apples to oranges in my book.
I will never understand why people compare a cover to an original. This was made from inspiration and was incredibly modernized. If not for the lyrics, it'd basically be two entirely different songs with hardly any similarities. That's David's style, taking something great, using it as inspiration, and trying to see what he can personally turn it in to. If you tried saying "The original song sucked, yours is way better!" to him, he'd probably call you an idiot for thinking bashing another revolutionary artist is a good compliment towards his music.
cdwwg especially since he was inspired by the very person they're bashing. spot on man. I could see David doing exactly that.
cdwwg I agree with what you're saying but at the same time the creator of baseball isn't the best baseball player. They gave the initial spark but that doesn't give them the utmost best delivery or mastering of it. That being said honestly the original is better than this cover. The music is extremely simple for the genre and sounds overdone. And the only real good thing to say about it is the vocalists are both amazing and the song itself is good even if the delivery is bad.
cdwwg Amen to that
"I will never understand why people compare a cover to an original"...This may be the dumbest thing i've ever read
cdwwg When you think of "Blinded by the Light" do you think of the Manfred Mann version or the original by Bruce Springsteen? It's the same song but sometimes a cover like this is allowed to outshine the original.
Oh wow, both of them in the same song? Pure win.
I don't know about HIM But Lzzy Hale is amazingly talented. She got the body of the Goddess and the voice of a Gibson Guitar
I think that qualifies as a "horny angel". And, I agree.
But they're still maggots, right? Pecking order!
@@shadesofblack89 what is wrong with you? Aside from your comment sounding sexist, she sounds like any old generic female singer! David sounds different, in a good way, he can metal out or sing a ballad full of emotion/passion. I'm not really saying she's bad, but I think David is just as good if not better than her!
Oh my god, where the fuck have I been, and how did I not find this until now? These two collaborating would have been awesome on its own, but this song? Perfect.
The original is still the best...no doubt. But David & Lzzy have done justice and made it sound great. Epic cover.
they.. are ..on a song together.... sorry i need new ears....mine have reached limit of how much epic they can take!!
Thumbs up
KitKat5533 lol....deff not!!..no way it was hate...lol
Lyness Rogers One cannot hate this song and have functional braincells!
In fairness, this does rock harder than most mortals can handle.
Amazing rendition, Lzzy And David killin it like usual
I will follow Lzzy and the boys of Halestorm anywhere!!
Seeing David & Lzzy preform this song was the highlight of RockFest KC!
Can't we just get along? Both versions are different versions of aural genius! You're welcome.
Oh my god. This is beautiful. I've never heard Device, before, but I'm a die hard Disturbed fan, so I decided to give it a try.
Device was David's solo project when Disturbed took a break from 2011-2015
just saw David and Lzzy play at Lazerfest last friday it was fuckn amazing!!!! made my top 5 fav songs instantly keep rockin David
David got a terrific cover. If someone that you are not satisfied, please do not litter in the comments. You good people.
I loved the original, one of my favorite songs. Was very apprehensive of even listening because I love these two as well.
Holy crap this is a hellacover!
LOVE IT WHEN DAVID SINGS A BALLAD TYPE SONG! BEST VOICE IN THE BUSINESS! LOVE YOU DAVID!
Change is good. Disturbed wasn't going to last forever. The fact that David Draiman can rise from the Ashes of Disturbed and can jump head first into a new project is astounding. And the fact he's trying a new angle is something to be admired. Can't say I've ever heard a Disturbed duet haha. Why does everything have to be the same for some people to enjoy it? Change is inevitable. Learn to embrace it or be left on the wayside.
the only thing is, disturbed isn't finished.. I think david and the rest of the guys are taking some time from disturbed, doing their own thing, and letting the creative juices that made disturbed one of the greatest of all time, come flooding back and I think disturbed is gonna come back with a vengeance
Draiman is just that dude!! Kick ass
Loved THIS! Lzzy and Dave nailed it!!!! Great job! I like it way more than the original. I'm one of those rare people that don't think Ozzy is the GOD of metal he is touted to be.
I like this version better too
wish dave would sing in his higher range more often.
agreed
GlassMetropolis hey im looking for new freinds wanna be freinds?
@@austinwalker2822 I wanna be friends
And I'm uncomfortable
Nah, he's good there but I really do like the fact that he's entirely willing to dip into baritone. And he's good at it. Too many singers are trying to be Axl Rose. :)
Lzzy covering Lita Ford just feels right...i need to hear her do a cover of Kiss Me Deadly!!!
I love the original songs on the album but I would love to hear more "singing" like this. Great cover.
Lzzy needs to do a song with Ivan Moody. Love he's voice!
UA-camJunky Ivan did a duet with Maria Brink from Within Temptation.
Chris Catalano you got that mixed up, Maria Brink is lead singer of In This Moment, Sharon den Adel is the lead singer of Within Temptation
Ivan and Lzzy would be epic
Pity he sucks live...
Dave is purely without any doubt one of thee greatest vocalists of any genre.....Bad ass remake..
Its between chester, David and m shadows
@@kaylamjenks5794 Chester and David, yes! 👍 m shadows... Not so much. He just sounds really Weird all the time! & somewhat juvenile. I wouldn't be much of an Avenged Sevenfold fan if it wasn't for the Amazing guitarist! 🎸
@@jamesmiranda1449 agreed!
Nah.
Never thought anyone would ever try to pull this off... they did.
I'm old enough to remember the original with Ozzy and Lita Ford. I'm not usually a fan of re-makes, but I like this one.
this is one of the best cover songs i have ever heard and sung by 2 very talented people, love it
I just discovered device today and my son just gave 5 minutes of sound of silence to enjoy it
Disturbed is still out there... There just on hold for now.
I have listened to every Disturbed album, and I used to be a pretty big fan of theirs. LOL You haven't listened to much Queen, have you? One thing that made Queen's lyrics great is that they had a variety of themes. All of Disturbed's lyrics sound like they come from the diary of an angst-ridden teenager.
Corey Taylor, David and Sully Erna!!!
I've been waiting for too long to see David and Sully from Godsmack doing something together...
Not a fan of Device, but I'll admit this a solid cover. Lzzy kills it!
I didn't fall in love with this cover immediately, but it has grown on me. I'd love to hear Lzzy and her boys cover Magic Man and Crazy On You !
David doesnt half change a cover he does and make his own and better
Usually when David makes covers, he does it better than the original, but OzzY & Lita wins this one
+Warpig of The Power How so? This one has more soul to it than the original.
+Mario Dhima I disagree, OzzY really put himself into that song, although David's voice is phenominal, and Lita's voice is more powerful than Lizzy's, it sounds like Lizzy is trying to make it sound prettier, while Lita delivers a huge Impact.
+Warpig of The Power I feel like Ozzy s voice goes better on the song, but Lzzy is deffinitely killing it with a more powerful voice that stays stable and clear when rocking out.
This blows the original away.
ok im absolutely amazed by this song
Awesome together for hard rock duo!
Holy crap why am I just hearing this
EARGASM!!! no shit man im crying so f*king nice is that. an awesome band and two singers forged by gods
I love both versions
Man I miss these days
¡Me encanta este cover! ❤
can't figure put which version i like better!!!!!
Honestly i got burnt out on disturbed/device...and then they released this song!!!!
Anything Disturbed kicks ass! Thankx David!-
Lzzy Hale as a voice that I enjoy.
They were the perfect pair to do a remake of this song.
I absolutely love your voice. The fact that you don't just do grunge is awesome. Id love to learn to sing like you and blow people away with the power of song.
I don't even want to think about that. It hurts my brain too much. I can't comprehend the levels of insane awesomeness that those two would make in a team effort. David Draiman's already helping Trivium to absolutely slaughter with their 2013 album.
Damn, that just blew my ears off!!!!!
This is fucking awesome!
I hope disturbed doesnt die. Theyve come closer than any other artest out there...
I don't listen Device so much, and the songs that I hear from Device, I like it, and I like Disturbed very much, and I hope Disturbed returns
All i want now is david and amy lee
Yaaaaaassss
Sorry but no. Amy lee has become overrated. Granted they probably would sound good together
in my opinion this is the best song they have on this time :)
Nothing will ever replace the Lita/Ozzy combo. They were dynamic and matched perfectly. With that said, this is a damn good cover. Their voices compliment each other well and the new arrangement is very good. One of the better re-makes / covers I've ever heard.
Holding on, is easy. Letting go, is the hardest.
hay metal heads
I honestly thought this was amazing. Great Job!!!
1.) Lzzy is amazing, talented and beautiful! 2.)David is awesome, talented, and handsome. Them together? Sensory overload, almost cannot compute the amazingness of this!
First good Device song I've heard
I love it
I’ve always wanted to hear David and Amy Lee do something like this together, they never have as far as I know, but it would be beautiful if they ever did.
That's not Amy Lee. The female vocalist is Lzzy Hale, vocalist of the band Halestorm
@@yaboyblacklist2431 they're not saying its amy lee lol.
Here i am, July 2024 and still listening to this song.
Lzzy Hale is amazing
I hope epileptic people don't watch this video.
I hope they do
i love this version more than original version
Lzzy dominates in collaborations. So far I haven't heard anyone outsing her.
You hit the nail on the head man, that's a perfect example. My biggest one is when I play the solo for nothing else matters, it was the first solo I learned. You know where I'm coming from, I look like I'm having spasms playing that shit, lol.
Everybody wants to comment on how " this ones better or that ones better"....who cares let's just enjoy music. It's not a competition!
One of those covers that blows away the original...
Never heard of this band Device before and did not know what I was missing! What a group! Lzzy Hale is magnificent, d---n! Great song and a great cover! I am blown away!
IMMORTAL!
