David Draiman of Disturbed, and ex-Filter guitarist Geno Lenardo recently collaborated together to construct Device. The album takes strands from hard rock, industrial, and electronica, and as a result, Device's self-titled debut album for Warner Bros. Records is a focused, fierce, and fiery new machine.
It all started while the Grammy Award-nominated multiplatinum powerhouse Disturbed was on hiatus, Lenardo reached out to Draiman to collaborate on a song for the Underworld: Awakening soundtrack in late 2011. As soon as the singer heard the music, he was both intrigued and inspired. The duo then cut "Hunted" in Chicago. Even though the track didn't ultimately make the final soundtrack album due to circumstances beyond their control, Draiman urged that they hold on to it and continue writing music. Soon, they had an entire album's worth of material.
Upon finishing the record, Draiman enlisted Evanescence drummer Will Hunt and Dope and Rock of Ages guitarist Virus. Both Hunt and Virus jumped at the chance to be a part of this powerhouse trio. The three comprise the touring incarnation of Device.
David Draiman is my all time favorite vocalist FUCKING EVER!!! His vocals are so unique and stand out among all other vocalists. Keep doing what you do, David. Haters hate what they can't Imitate.

Damn that voice after David says ''When everything around me DIEEEEEES!'' gives that strong feeling i love this song.
For me David is what makes Disturbed !! It's his unique vocals. AS much as I loved Mike's double bassing and awesome skin skills, and the rest of the band's skills on guitars - the reason I am now a massive Device fan is simple - David Draiman.
Even though I love David Draiman, I really didn't want to like Device...But I must admit that I love Device...David Draimans voice is just awesome...He could sing to me anytime.
Please hurry up and return Disturbed! We miss you :(
Props to every musician who put work into this album.It's not just Draiman's who contributed.People seem to forget that.Rock on guys.

Ill be honest, a lot of this does just sound like disturbed with some more electronic sounds, but since they broke up I have been waiting for them to come back and device is a very nice thing to hold me over.

David needed to do this, he had an itch the members of Disturbed couldn't scratch. I love his new stuff and hope there will be more.
every fan of david draiman knows every song he creates has a meaning / story to it sure some people don't like his music but every ppl that disliked his music helps in a way to make his music much better i been a huge fan of david since midnight club LA came when i listened to indestructable for my first time my life has turned ad now i can't be any more happy

I have respect for both disturbed and device. I love both of their music. As long as David is still singing i will be happy.
Regardless of Whether Dave is singing with Disturbed or Device, his vocal ability is just amazing. Especially when live he gets the crowd going. :)

This song is very philosophical I think. I listened to the meaning and I think is speaks truthfully. Many folks wonder if they can escape the phantoms in their minds. I'm no different.

Wish they did more than one album
All I see in this comment section is people saying " I miss disturbed I want them back." or "device is shitty compared to disturbed". Well DEVICE are different from DISTURBED and because they have the same singer that doesn't mean that one is copying another. Most of you are not true metal fans and only listen to disturbed. I am hard-die fan of Disturbed but when they "broke" up they said that it was just a big break and that meant that they would come back just like happened. Until the return of Disturbed I was listening both disturbed and device. BOTH ARE GREAT BANDS. SO STOP THE MOANING AND START LISTENING. YOUR BEHAVIOUR TOWARDS DEVICE IS SIMILAR TO POP FANS!

Everything about the Device songs that have been released so far are easy to understand; especially the lyrics. Although quite catchy, they're actually pretty juvenile and cliche. "You Think You Know" actually made me roll my eyes.
Penance is a killer alt... Rock On!
Wasn't too sure with it at first, liked Vilify but it didn't really wow me, "You think you know" and "Penance" are incredible...Device is amazing!!

This song has grown on me, and now I adore it.
Firstly, Dan and Virus are amazing guitarists. If you think this sounds like Disturbed, go listen to them. Don't sit here and whinge about it, I love David, any project he is involved in, i will always listen to it. Device won the Revolver golden gods award for best new band 2013. Lots of people like it, if you don't, simply listen to other stuff.
Device is simple, different and hard. Majestic. Each person has his own style, respect.

If anything I like to think of Device as more of early disturbed work, something I think he (David) was more proud of.

I saw Disturbed a few years back... holy shit that man and his voice. I could happily just listen to Disturbed all day long.

been a disturbed fan since the beginning and if this is what david draiman wanted to do im all for it supporting 100% he originally wanted something like this and now hes got it. hes not done with disturbed though from what i heard they are just taking a break

Not at all meaning to sound contradictory guys, but I would love to hear David sing a little tune to some gospel. He just has that voice that lifts up the spirit, I love it!

I saw David with Disturbed overseas during a deployment and they were badass. I hope to see Device as well soon.
Hearing people complain about how this sounds the same as Disturbed is like listening to people complain about how similar Phil Collins sounds to the singer from Genesis (It's the same person, people!)
It's really not like he should start signing in some squeaky voice just to be different from a previous band. It's his voice, and a damn good one, too!
