Jenny you are in my quilting world! Just did one block weeee! Yes lights in the corners, big help. I’ll keep watching you,for more great ideas. Thank you! 🇨🇦
I always look forward to the latest video - I love this one and will definitely make it. I would cut slightly differently, slice off the six 4 1/2 " pieces and then attach the white fabric to the remainder, then cut that strip at 2 1/2" intervals. I don't enjoy sewing 2 1/2" squares so anytime I don't have to I'm thrilled!
I've watched this tutorial many, many times and finally got the chance to make it up into a quilt, however rather than put sashing between the rows, I decided to snowball the outside corners of the white squares with a solid color fabric. Then when I put the whole thing together I had a wonderful little secondary pattern in what would have been the large white spaces. Great tutorial, clearly explained, thank you.
Thank you so much! I used to weave so this is really making my heart sing. I haven't quilted for years & I just got a layer cake from you, thread & clips. When I have to be in my own little world it's nice to be creating something beautiful.
Jenny, you are so real. I love watching you. You are so upbeat and you have really shown me that you don't need to be upright about perfection. I love it! I have learned so many quick and easy piecing techniques. Thanks!
I am, and always have been, a crafter of variety. My husband cracks up at how flighty I can be with my creativity! One week, I'm knitting, the next, it's cross stitch, then I'm making a wreath or doing flowers for my daughter's or son's wedding... It's always something! I have a condition with my pancreas that has me in constant chronic pain, so I can't work, but I can't sit still! Lol I have always wanted to quilt. My grandmother, God love her, made me a simple, pink, yarn-tied quilt when I was young, and it was my favorite gift in the whole world. Now, I'm about to be a grandma, so I figured it's time for me! Thank Heaven for YT!! (And MSQC!) My grandmother is still alive, and very spunky at 80, but very much like me in the way that we are "Janes of all crafts, masters of none", and she barely remembers how to use her sewing machine. The point of all this is just to say "Thank you". Thanks for sharing your tips and tricks to quilt-making, and with so much fun! I hope I can get off of your channel to get started, but I enjoy watching your videos so much! LOL PS... A true story: I took my husband into a fabric store for the first time, and he spotted the jelly rolls. He picked one up and turned to me to say, in a hushed voice, "Honey? Why is this so expensive?!" I had to explain to him that all the hard work is already DONE! He said, "Oh... Well that makes sense... THIS one is pretty." And he threw it in the cart and bought it for me! ❤
Sounds like a very supportive spouse, Kari. You can count yourself lucky about that (although I am sorry about your chronic pancreatic pain; my mother suffers from MS and its associated chronic pain, and it is not a life I would choose for anyone. Best of luck on your journey, I hope these MSQC tutorials provide you with hours of distracting enjoyment. They've been a lifeline for me, and I've even made a couple of them myself, which turned out better than I expected them to!). ~Diana from Toronto
I weave, knit, spin, sew, crochet?, tat? embroider and all the jazz in between. I have wanted to make a woven quilt for several years. Thank you for these good ideas. I am thinking a little differently, because of color, but this really has helped my thinking. YOU are so cute!!
Love this block...so different! I have "chemo brain" right now and do a lot of "ripping out", 'so I can relate! Thanks for the inspiration in all your videos.
I got a free jelly roll when I bought my long arm last week. Had no earthly idea what I was going to do with it, as I don’t use pre cuts.....well, now I do, lol. Right on time with this one!
Love it! Love that you are real! That you make mistakes and sometimes struggle! Just too fun! Keep the great Block ideas coming! Please do a tutorial on Deck of Cards.
Glad I found your You Tubes. You make it look so easy Jenny. I can read directions 50 times and still don't get it, but show me in a video and everything clicks. New Years resolution for 2020, "start sewing more".
This is a beautiful pattern.Thank you for your awesome channel. Although I love your color combination, I had a layer cake of autumn fabric hanging out that was calling to me. Just finished my 9 patches and will be trying the white centered ensemble as that seemed to be most eye catching to me. You are amazing!
I think this is a great way to use one of my jelly rolls! I saw Man Sewing in Houston and realized when I saw the quilt your son made he was behind me when I was buying a Coke. Wish I had known who he was as I would have told him how much I love Missouri Star quilt company!🤠
Thank you so much Jenny, that’s really really stunning and gorgeous I really really love 💕 all those bright colours and patterns. It’s a fantastic idea 💡 and I really really love 💕 watching you work too. Stay safe and well too xxx Mags
Love it! I think I'm going to use a white jelly roll I have for the white corners instead of cutting 2.5in squares out of yardage but I'm excited to try this!
Great tutorial Jenny! I am a quilter also and I can't wait to make this quilt. It looks like it is going to be so much fun. Thank you for sharing this video.
I am a beginner quilt maker. Your videos have inspired me so much. So many projects to work on. I scrolled through your web page and can’t wait to make a trip to your area. Maybe could you also profile places to stay. Thank you so much for sharing all that you do.
Thanks for the tutorial. I am thinking about making a quilt for my daughter and using fabrics left over from grandchildren's pajamas and nightgowns. I have been saving the left overs for about 7 years . .. just waiting for the right pattern.
....as i am finishing a quilt, and have scraps, I am cutting them into 2 1/2" squares and 2 1/2" by 4 1/2" small strips..I will sew 2 squares together, then add on the small strip of 4 1/2" to make 1/4 of the block you see above, then throwing them in a bin...when I have enough, I will put 4 of the mini blocks together, to create a completely scrap block....then grow it into a quilt!
You could use yardage, and only two colors and then entire quilt would weave. Or two colors per row, so the whole row would weave fully across... omit the sashing. OR since you get 6 cuts per jelly roll strip, you could use only two strips and lay out 6 squares instead of 7.. and it would weave all the way across. In fact, in my head I imagine how cute it would be to do the same squares in one row so it would be a continuous weave, then make "U-turn" blocks at each end so it looks like it turns and goes back to the left, "U turn" then back to the right, "uturn" back to the left...
R. Jean Gustafson:: Instagram is a great place to share your pics of the projects you make. Four partial log cabin sections sewn together to make one woven square, correct? And we can use a white jelly roll for the back ground and a roll of skinny strips for the sashing! And, yes, the song is now stuck in my head but it's an appropriate one for those of us that quilt during the night. Thanks for another great tutorial!
I did this one a while back and it is a challenge. I didn't use sashing and actually did get one block turned wrong. But it is a beautiful quilt. It's done in four colors with a black background. The prints are different but the colors match so it looks like one large woven piece. Wish i could show you a picture.
Really pretty quilt and a good one for someone who likes a more scrappy quilt. For the sashing strips could you use a “skinny” jelly roll? For some it might be easier/quicker than to cut from yardage.
You’re killing me. I can’t keep up with you. This is such a neat pattern. Like you I think I will have to keep an example block at first to get this all back together right.
I started cutting my jelly roll; the first 4 strips worked out perfectly, but then I started running out of strip before I could get all 6 2.5 inch squares from some of the other strips. Not all of the strips in the jelly roll were the same size. Needless to say I'm frustrated, but I'll go through my scraps and see if I can still make this. Lesson learned: not all jelly roll strips in one roll are cut the same so I'm going to check each strip the next time before I start cutting. I do so love this quilt though, love Jenny and plan on making it one way or the other.
Jenny you are in my quilting world! Just did one block weeee!

This would look beautiful in Asian prints, too. Thank you, Jenny.

what an awesome idea about sewing the white with the remainder and "then" cut into 2-1/2.... I never think of these things
I can't wrap my head around what you are saying here, but it sounds like a good idea
@@leaannegrabb8653 make a long "strip set of white + print, then cut that crosswise into 2-1/2 pieces.
I've watched this tutorial many, many times and finally got the chance to make it up into a quilt, however rather than put sashing between the rows, I decided to snowball the outside corners of the white squares with a solid color fabric. Sometimes I get a little squirreled too! Thanks for the giggle, I needed it today.
Again, you inspired me. I have plenty of white jelly roll in stash! Thank you Jenny❤️
I watched it once more, I have my fabric - now to make the quilt.
I totally understand the squirrel thing. I'm affected as well. Cute block, Jenny!
Really cute block, and I love the outer border fabric. It's so fun and colorful.

Thank you , nice block!
Thank you so very much for great idea...
This is a fantastic pattern
Hi Jenny! I'm making this with batiks and black for the background. I actually like the blocks without the sashing.
Oh that will be darling! We would love to see your creation!
Thanks for the tutorial. I am thinking about making a quilt for my daughter and using fabrics left over from grandchildren's pajamas and nightgowns. I have been saving the left overs for about 7 years . .. just waiting for the right pattern.
Judy Goldthorp years ago I made a quilt from my son’s burp rags. He (19 years old) still has it in a drawer in his room.
That will be so cute! I'm sure that will forever be a treasured quilt.
Great Job good instructor

Jenny you coined a new phrase "I get squirrell-ed really easily".....I LOVE it - and will use it! LOL!!!
Happy Thanksgiving!! Love your videos, they are a big help to me, I am a beginning quilter.
Loved this tutorial
Your so cute!!
This might look good in red and black, sort of like a tartan plaid. Thanks!
Sandi Carstensen or dark greens and navy with a pop of either dark purple, grey or a dark red 😍
Very beautiful
I’m making this it’s so much fun

Wow, what a great idea! I love your creativity!
So since I'm so visual can you tell me would you still use the background color i.e. the white square?
Exactly what I thought! Wish we could share what we created from the inspirational videos here.

I really love this one Jenny. Would love to get a Jelly Roll that has shades of brown TFS
I will pass that request on and see if we can get something like that in stock for you. Keep an eye on on our website!
Love!!!
Jenny is hilarious! I do my poor brain too trying to work out my pattern.
Thank you for another great tutorial. You are looking so good Jenny, what is your secret?
Спасибо!

Quilt as you go...yeah

I get "squirreled" too! hahaha SQUIRREL!
Cute idea. I wonder what it would look like with a darker sashing?? Hmmm.
