@@NyxVellum everything you can add to a map with the map device is from a season. Each season the things rotate, meaning different content is available as addon with the map device (some things are permanent).
@@NyxVellum every 3-4 months poe releases a BRAND new season and its a whole brand new game mechanic, the next season will not have the previous seasons mechanics in it but the following season usually does (depending on what it does) SO every legion monolith, blight etc... those are all from previous seasons !!! So this game just INFINITELY grows!! It seriously never ends!! So evert 3-4 months they add a WHOLE new game mechanic, new skills gems, remove skills gems, change skills gems, change and add new equipment etc.... its almost a whole new game every few months

Leave the Karui shores and head to your hideout. You should have access to all the NPCs and the map device from the privacy of your own custom built hideout. It's much more comfy than being in the epilogue town.
Your hideout also loads much faster than karui shores!
also shores is public and shares other players load data, where as hidout it only loads ones characters.what makes it a bit more stable.
on public place you can encounter more difficult enemies, where as off hideout its bit less difficult enemies. its part of old feature of poe that was about player invasion system that never was implemented fully. the difficult public enemies are scaled on the other public players in the area that why public zones bit harder but also more rewarding.
that is also why solo self found is easier, due to less public player scaled enemies.
and due to all the public data that is shared between accounts its also more likely to unstable and crash when multiple data character sets are loaded for both player and player scaled enemy creation spawns.
quick tip, always pick up 6 links, you can sell them to vendors if you don't use them for 20 fusion orbs
Finding 6 links that early into maps is absolutely insane btw. nevermind that you found as many as you did off one monster. PoE "loot goblins" are great.
Also you found an aegis so early wtf? actually crazy lucky. Sadly this league a lot of uniques aren't worth too much, but any other league (or even solo self found) this would've been an insane drop.
Not that crazy. You get them all the time since there is a rare mod that makes the enemy drop fully linked gear.
Unless you are talking about something amazing like a 6 link "Lightning Coil" which I have not gotten to.

You forgot one point on your passive skill tree between duelist start and precision keystone! That one point gives you life and mana leech, that's why you are out of mana all the time, you don't have mana leech.
this so much, as a vet player i can only get a bit nervous hahaha Jokes aside, mana/life leech is basically a must for most attack hit based builds, and actually the earlier you grab it the better since it will free up so much pressure on mana especially thus more auras from earlier on and also a flask slot which is HUGE

It is the fact that every map is different
You can get overpowerd boss
Or two bosses at once or moment when you summon three previous map bosses into other map and fightvthem
Or 15 rogue exiles at one place
The possibilities are endless and it makes the grind much more "enjoyable"
Act 10 is the end of the tutorial. Filling out your atlas and reaching t15 maps is the early game. Carrying out your league strat and investing 50+ divines into your build is midgame. Finishing up pinnacle bosses and becoming rich is late game and pushing level 100 and min maxing this build or starting your second build to invest your several 100's of divines is the end game. Having fun, making meme character builds, and bricking your mageblood is the post game.
The things you've been calling "seasonal content" are not seasonal content, those are all core features that were implemented into the game permanently after first being introduced in a league. And that applies to many things you don't realize- shrines, strongboxes, tormented spirits, ascendancy classes, were all league mechanics once. Don't ignore these things, they are important parts of the game and your progression. The actual league mechanic for the current league is something you should be doing now too, once you reach maps is when you are supposed to start doing it.

This here is the typical result of following build guides when you are new and why its a bad idea. You just copy the pob without understanding why or to what end exactly you are choosing those passives. He ignores all rares on the ground because the pob has different basetypes. Meanwhile there could be stuff lying there with all the res he needs.
Get to know the game, then look up a few guides.
@@spbalance Without following the pob you are never taking that node, he would be in the same situation. He doesn't know what to do to fix the mana sustain. The only difference is that if you follow the pob in the right way, you can actually do it right.
Not even mentioning that he wouldn't be in maps at this point and specially with his current strength (power) without a guide.
You need to understand that people quit a game if its boring for a few hours, poe is a massive game and guides allow people to see the game, have fun and learn about the game.

The unique Champion Kite Shield that dropped for you is rare and quite good for some builds. It is called The Aegis Aurora. Glad you're having fun!

Was gonna say that, he started maps with 6L weap and armor, bunch of 6L at the start and then an aegis, that's a decent league start if I've ever seen one.

@@guilhermegoncalves3197 It's a unique shield that he dropped, unique champion kite shield.
It can have up to around 1000 armor and 250 energy shield, plus resistances, regen energy shield when you block and other things. With good armor/ES roll it can be hella expensive to get (I've never gotten one in SSF).
aegis is an amazing unique shield. It gives several bonuses, but the part that makes it really good is the modifiier "recover energy shield equal to 2% of armor on block". With a lot of energy shield and an insane amount of armor, as well as max block chance, you will constantly be gaining a ton of energy shield back as you go through maps, so its very strong defensively. SOme builds even stack millions of armor making them recover thousands of ES per block
@@guilhermegoncalves3197 to follow up, the reason Aegis Aurora is so good is because not only is it a fairly beefy shield, it gives +5% max cold res (a huge amount), and it's main gimmick is that whenever you block, you instantly recover some Energy Shield. By taking Glancing Blows (double block chance/take 65% of damage from blocked hits) and getting your attack and spell block up, you can end up taking less damage from the weaker mobs than you recover, making you essentially immortal. Even against bosses, that recovery basically makes most hits just do less damage _after calculation_, and considering your goal is to reduce incoming damage by as much as possible, for some hits that could be half or more of the hit, giving you really good survivability against bosses.

If you hold alt while you hover mouse over a map, it shows whether you have completed it already. It's most useful in Kirak missions, as he often gives you maps you haven't found yet. And completing more maps means more altas passives.
You should try to kill most mobs in a map. No need to run around looking for monsters if there are under 50 remaining, but you should kill most packs. Comparing to D4, maps are kind of like nightmare dungeons, you do them mostly for loot. And there are various league mechanics that increase amount of loot you get and often give some items that you can only get from said mechanic. For example breach (purple hands you found twice) spawns a bunch of additional monsters (more items and exp) and you get breach splinters and breach rings.
Most league mechanics also have some form of a boss/hard content. In case of breach, it's breachlords, access to whom you get by collecting breach splinters. Breachlords drop uniques that you can't get anywhere else. For expeditions (explosive placement) you sometimes get logbooks, which have more expedition, expedition lore and expedition bosses. All 10 "main" mechanics work like that. Basically, you do them and if you like that mechanic and do it a lot, you sometimes can do better version of that mechanic.
You also have essences, strongboxes, rogue exiles and tormented spirits. They spawn in maps, but do not have their own endgame, although all of these are rewarding. (rogue exiles not so much)
It wasn't until this video I consciously realized you could just sit in Kirac's war room forever instead of going to your hideout like a normal person

Back in the early days of PoE before hideouts this is what you had to do (though it was the eternal lab, not Kirac's war room). You even had to "crunch" portals by going in and out to use them all up before you could put in a new map. Ahh the good old days of no QoL :)
Remember meeting dialla in act 3 and seeing a door to the side? That's where we used to go for maps. No map tab. No stash in the area. Finish a map and go back to Sarn then back to wave to dialla before jumping through more portals.

9:20 Getting the mana leech node is more important early on! It will make you sustain your mana infinitely while fighting :)
okay, tormented spirits can ''touch'' normal and magic mobs (they get the little flame above their head) and possess rares and uniques, the former gives some small bonuses both to their attacks (or adding additional effects like them exploding on death) as well as their rewards, while the ladder can give them big boosts to specific drops, like make the mob drop a lot of currency or drop corrupted items.
you would ideally try to get them to posses rares or uniques if possible, cause killing them in their spirit form doesn't give any good loot really.

yah also starting maps with 6 link weapon and body armour. whats the fun in learning the game if u just start with good items. It would feel so much better progressing the gear by saving up chaos trading noticing the power spikes. I feel like he went from doing everything by himself to full on handholding. Just playing with the build guide would have been better imo.
@@BuBl3gumRain he doesnt understand anything to follow a build guide. i think its probably for the better that he has some handouts and can do some content to see what is what, he can figure out the builds and items slowly over time, then again who knows maybe he would've been better off playing ssf.

Streamer luck is real
All of us PoE players currently laughing because we knew once you started your first play through that you'd end up enjoying the game a lot. If people can make it through the first few acts they typically really start to enjoy the game, I know I did. I'm still a noob (250hrs) so tons to learn still but its just an amazing game.
I'm not laughing because some how he magically has 10 Divines and 200+ chaos after running a couple of white t1s......

That was interesting to see newcomer in maps, and I agree that it's quite complicated. I try to collect here few tips:
- 6-links collect always those, those are really good to have, don't vendor them but keep in stash so if you make another character you get right away 6-linked item for it.
- For start I would recommend not to use map crafting at (when you put map you can select for example Fortune Favours the Brave) at start because Chaos orbs (what those cost) are common currency in trade.
- When doing maps, "white" maps needs to be magic quality, yellow maps needs to be rare quality and red maps needs to rare + corrupted (Using vaal orb on them).
- Items can 3 prefixes and 3 suffixes, I recommend enabling in Options -> Ui -> In items section, Show Full Description, that helps to see how many prefixes and suffixes you have, and then craft in crafting bench something good for yourself in spare slots.
- Atlas Passives, I would recommend taking Essences and as many maps passives (more map drops) as you can at first
Just to add on: corrupting an item (including a map) means that it can potentially have up to 8 modifiers. 4 prefixes and 4 suffixes, making them more dangerous but more rewarding.
I cried when you left those 6 links there that early in your adventures. Never leave those, unless you're sitting on like 200 div.
This was peak a PoE beginner moment 😂

@@BuzzaB77 Aw, I hadn't noticed that. Kind of diminishes the whole point of this, really. The first 10 divines are the toughest to farm, and arguably the biggest learning experience in the whole game. If he's just being given them, that really undermines, well, pretty much everything he's done.
1 you can install the map device in your hideout
2 portals in map works another way than in campaign, they never close.
It's good idea to use portal scroll before bossfight

You can hold ALT while hovering over a map to see if you completed it and if you also completed bonus objective, so map tab isn't that important for that reason. But it does hold an obscene amount of maps, while comes in handy later, and the auto sorting a big QoL.

game is ez pz when someone gives you 10s of divines and six links
You can sell any 3 of the same map to the vendor for 1 random map of the next higher tier, but the randomness varies between each individual map ITEM, not the map TYPE. So if you have 5 Glacier maps, selling 3 may get you a Fields map, but swapping out one (or more) of those 3 Glacier maps with a different one will give you a DIFFERENT Tier 2 map. This is a life saver for filling out your atlas.
ALSO if you do a Kirak mission it refreshes his shop inventory so you can buy more maps.
The purple hands are called Breaches and they are one of my favorite mechanics :)
As you saw when you touch them they spread out temporarily. When they spread they reveal monsters you couldn't previously interact with and tiny hands you can open like loot chests. There is unique loot types you can only get from breaches (mostly):
Breach rings - these are just rings that are twice as good while you're standing in a breach. They aren't very good for general mapping content unless you specifically build around them with a special skill gem that's super rare. However! You can collect 60 (full inventory) of them and sell all 60 at once to get a special type of body armour with unique modifiers.
Breach splinters - These are a collectable. There are 5 types each corresponding to one of 5 Breach Lords (end game boss). Collect 100 of the same type and they will make a breachstone which is a special map that brings you to the breach lord's domain. They have special uniques only they can drop when you beat them. You wont get breachstones very often unless you spec into the breach mechanic on the atlas tree.
A few tips:
- you can spec into one mana leech node in your passive tree to help with your mana problems ( i think your guide also has it )
- for now, just enjoy mapping and exploring more maps. you will eventually discover minor and major bosses ( all of which can be witnessed by maven - you have read the names of these bosses at the end of this video )
- there are many more secrets and things to discover
30:20 you're missing the small mana/life leech node. Might be the reason of your mana issue.
Adding different sacrifice fragments with a map increases item quantity drop. Also if you get Scarabs you can add those into the map device as well. Also you can upgrade maps. You need chartographers chisels and orbs of alchemy. Use the chisels first to increase the quality 5% each time capping at 20%
Then hit it with an orb of alchemy to turn it into a rare map. If you alchemy it first they will only go up 1% each chisel. So instead of spending 4 chisels you would have to spend 20. So always chisel first. Also you can corrupt the map with Vaal orbs but thats a gamble. It might increase the item rarity/quantity to a higher value like 120% to item quantity or rarity, it could stay the absolute same a do nothing, it can decrease the value of item quant/rarity and switch monster modifiers, or there is a chance that it changes the map into a different map(which i dont like due to specific item farming on certain maps.) However if you don't corrupt the map and you dont like the modifiers on the map you can hit it with a orb of scouring changing the map back into an unmodded gray map again still with 20% quality, then hit it with another orb of alchemy to get another rare map with new modifiers. You could use chaos orbs to just reroll a yellow map. But i wouldnt suggest doing that, as you will be finding all the other currencies I stated above much more often. Save your chaos orbs for things you want to buy, or for crafting.
Edit: Btw corrupting just like with the maps as I explained above does essentialy the same thing as what it does with maps. It can add extra modifiers to a piece of gear making it even better, it can do absolutely nothing except putting a corrupt display on the item making it unable to be rerolled unless you have scourge currencies, or it might change the item into a different item of the same type. Like changing a legendary back into a rare of the same item type.
Also what you are saying are seasonal aren't exactly, your half right. They are called league mechanics and they are just part of the base game, some seasons league mechanics were so well recieved they were just put in the game as event style mechanics that randomly appear throughout maps. Some you found through the campain but they are more frequent in maps and you can use the atlas to specialize in specific league mechanics you like through the Atlas,scarabs, etc. that way if there is a league mechanic you find you dont like you can specificaly remove it through the atlas tree. Wether or not you pick them (like the rogue exile) before starting a map doesn't mean it wont be in a map. All that does is force that league mechanic to be on that map.
loving the poe videos. I hope you keep progressing and continue to higher tier maps because I believe you will love the bosses when you get to them.
It's enjoyable seeing you map for the 1st time, and glad you are following a guide now, as it makes for a better experience. Now you have done your 1st map, you get kirac and map device for your hideout, go place it in there and run maps from your hideout, its much better. You also have access to lily for gems and your stash can be placed closer to the map device etc, just customize to fit your taste.
Jesus I've never seen a 6 link that early, never mind 4! In fact I don't usually see them until I've finished most maps on the atlas.

The 'only pick up what's relevant to me' strategy is a pretty good one for looting, but also:
Currency is always good to pick up
Six Socket/Six Link gear is always valuable, even if you're just going to sell it
Sadly this requires being able to learn/understand what is relevant, which is a pretty big ask.
You dont have to focus on just one type of game content but at the same time you absolutely can. Atlas tree is to find whichever mechanics you enjoy and haven't seen yet. There's boss nodes towards the top and upper sides.
There is a small note on the path to Precise Technique in the skill tree that gives you mana leech.
I loved watching your progression with the game, my first time playing Poe i dropped on early game than i came back a year later and never left, the complexity of the game is often a complain for new players, but when you start to understand things that complexity start to involve you, was nice to see you're exitement about learning stuff, this video marks for me when you became a real exile! Hanamoana! =D
That 4x 6-link drop was nuts! The Tier VI map you struggled with at 35:04, it was due to a Tormented Spirit - those floating green guys. They can dive into any miniboss/boss, and when they do they make that enemy a fair bit harder but it drops more loot. It's more loot than just killing the tormented spirit, but there's not always a miniboss to drive them toward.

the "green thing that keep disappearing" is a tormented spirit. it can touch regular mobs to make them bit powerful, and can torment a rare mob to make him really powerful.
such monsters give you more experience and better loot

If you hold alt while hovering over a map it will tell you if you have completed it and if you have done the bonus objective, you don't need the map tab just for that

Fun watching you get into mapping, this is where you get hooked lol. One tip on figuring out which items are good, if you download path of building and import your character, you can just copy past the item you are curious about and it will calculate your dps changes etc

I've been getting the occasional lag hitch myself over the last week or so, I usually only have connection issues during a league launch, but this league is so damn juicy people are still playing.
the way temple incursion works (if you want to play) is they give you time limit which would be increased the more mobs you kill (which would upgrade the room you are in). at the same time there is a key that drops that you can use to unlock doors that connect to other rooms. Once all incursion is completed, you can finally enter the temple according to what room you unlock, if you connect all the rooms, you can go through and fight the boss
In most cases, Corruption stops you from modifying an item any further after you Corrupt it. It can have some very, very unpredictable results, like adding new, unique implicit properties to an item that you can't normally get, or bricking a Unique item into a Rare item.
Loving the videos. Also, you can right click the gem level button (on Clarity for example) when you want to hide the button (capping the level unless you manually do it from your inventory later).
Be sure to open the map tab and right click the tab itself to set the affinity for that tab. Then whenever you try to put a map into your stash, it will automatically be put into your map tab (unless you hold Ctrl+Shift). You can do this with other tabs too.
You should also go to your hideout and find the various lockers or place them somewhere in your hideout. Open them up and click the affinity button in the lower right corner of the screen. Then whenever you try to put something in your stash that is better placed in these lockers, the item will go into the lockers instead (like Rogue Hideout currency).
Good job Nyx, I started last league and 700 hours or so later I'm wreacking 80-100% deli maps. This game is a blast.

Loved it. Your luck is actually insane. 4 6 links and an aegis of aurora that soon is great. My advice for the "seasonal content" as you call it is pick 1 thing at a time to learn after you get your foundation down. Essences are a great place to start.
The buttons below the Maven one at the map device lets you bring for example Syndicate missions to your maps (which you wanna do if you are looking into crafting).
Also just place a map device to your hideout, and the npcs, much more nicer.
Also please check the Heists, they are really cool and thematic.

- If you press TAB you see in the top right how many enemies are left. Make sure to continue a map to at least "less than 50 enemies" since more enemies = more kills = more drops.
- You can have the Map Device in your hideout. This way you can have your stash/NPCs to sell/Crafting table nearby.

Selling 3 of the same map will give you a map one tier higher. If you have more than 3 of the same map, changing which of the 3 maps you're selling can also change the map that is given back to you, so be sure to mix and match until you get a map that you want or haven't completed.
Yeah Maps are just a nice way to tackle the "Endgame"
There are the "Base" Maven Invitations where you fight map bosses and there are the "Special Ones" like Formed/Elderslayers/Feared which let you fight Multiple Endgame Bosses at the same time

As someone who jusy got to maps myself just two weeks ago. It was he same experience for me lol, so many questions!
Also, there is a way to import your own character into POB. Not just as a standalone but in the POB you are following as a distinct tree as a way to compare you tree to the guide more easily.
Some monsters (both rare and magic I believe) have a modifier that causes them to drop a large number of the same item base at the same rarity, although sockets, quality, and the specific mods on the items are rolled randomly for each. In the case of rares, it will be one mob that explodes into a load of the same item. In the case of magic mobs, each will have a high chance to drop the designated item.
The Maven = Lilith, basically. She's one of the harder pinnacle bosses and necessary for getting one of the Voidstones that unlock further options for customizing your maps. Two other pinnacle bosses are on this 'main track' but there are others you can fight. Accessing their uber versions is done through keystones on the atlas passive tree for all but the oldest one, Atziri. She has a built in damage reflect, so be careful.
Breach (the purple circle) is kill all the purple guys, yes. The Tormented ghosts need to possess a rare or higher mob. That makes the mob stronger, but also buffs their loot table, so if you can, try not to kill the ghosts early! They turn boss mobs into loot goblins! Crafting is complicated, but like all things in PoE, one thing at a time. White maps need to be blue (magic) in order to get the point from them, Yellow maps need to be Rare and Red maps need to be Rare and corrupted which you can do manually with a vaal orb. Have fun!
This is my first league in full, i have 2 characters between 95-97 doing whisp juiced t16s and delving, and I have never had a single mob drop multiple 6-links like that. Wild start dude lmao
Your map modifiers are free the first time you use them and cost currency each time you use it after.

If you want to support the game with buying points, it is much better to buy the skin packs which include the exact same dollar to points ratio but also include skins rather than just the points alone.
Maven thing is one part of the boss fights, which gives you possibility to get very valuable items and other benefits. There's four big bosses, which give you items called voidstones, which is one more mechanism to modify and improve maps. You can roll those modifiers with sextants, which you'll find from maps.
A little warning is in place about those bosses and some smaller ones. It's not goid idea to go into those fights without some preparation. There are mechanics you need to avoid, or you'll be single shotted too many times to be fun. Many times you need to do dozens of maps to get new invitation, or pay bug money to buy one.
You can press alt and highlight a map to see if you already finished the map for atlas completion.
To solve mana problems, you can just take 1 mana leech node just on the right side of the mana nodes you put your points into. You don't need the mana nodes, just mana leech nodes. Those mana nodes are important if you're using a lot of auras.
For tormented spirits, don't kill it. Let it pass through mobs as it will upgrade them and provide better rewards. Tormented spirits can posses uniques or elite monsters if they see it which makes a tougher fight but better rewards. It's not worth it at earlier maps but you can test it out just to see.
For maps, selling 3 of the same name to the vendor gives you 1 random map of 1 tier higher. Selling 3 strand maps (t3) will result random t4 map. Also, same map types can be good for you. If you have a map layout that you liked, (i like fields) i can do that map over and over again and put a lot of modifiers to famr better items just because that map is comfortable for me to run.

You are on the right track when you say that it's hard to work out what would be good for your build. It's the same finding items worth selling, there are SO many affixes and combinations and each affix has tiers also. 90% of the stuff you pick up is not worth anything except to vendor for alterations (rare items) or alchemy orbs (unique items). Or of course if you think it will be good for your build.
Trade is an integral part of the game, intended, to get upgrades for your build. Also, you can buy maps from other players on trade. This can help you fill out your atlas passives if you get bad rng and can't get a specific map to drop.
GGz on smashing the maven invitation and I shared your excitement first time doing end game bossing stuff too. There is waaay more of that to come and it gets even more exciting/rewarding.

While hovering over a map you can hold ALT and it will tell you if you already completed the bonus objective.
Also to get the bonus objective you need to finish white maps as magic, yellow as rare and red as rare and corrupted.

I love your videos and the way you tell the content, is so relaxing, love it! keep with the game, it has an insane amount of content , I have a playtime of 20 days on the league and I still have content to do, pretty insane, if you have doubts just ask :D
You should consider doing the Veridian Wildwoods in each of your maps. It's the reason the league exists. The wisps you collect there will empower enemies in your maps causing them to drop greater rewards.
if you look at atlas maps map, you will see which have "roads" connecting those, that means that they are connected and they have way higher chance to drop a map that is connected to it. also map stash its not only way to show completed uncompleted maps, without it you also get this information when hovering with alt on them

You can put a Map Device into your Private Hideout. Everything you need can be put in to your Hideout, so you have short ways to all the things you want to.
to "catch the soul" of any god, you need the "divine vessel". you have to put it in map device together with map, complete the map, and then pick up the filled vessel from the map device.
just use it and the soul will unlock extra feature from your panteon god.
if you get divine vessed don't waste them on a random map. you need to catch specific gods for your panteon
Do the season wisp mech at the start of the maps. It's pretty much free juicing without using resources. Makes it little bit challenging (careful it might make some mobs impossible to kill) and could drop better loot. Plus if you haven't finished quests in there you work towards it.
I actually got 2 divines before I even finished the story because of the seasonal mech.
mana cost is most always solved for melee early by taking the single attack dmg leech node on skill tree. things to look for on gear early on is life and res. gloves can roll attack speed and boots movement speed. GG boots and gloves have that and life/res. only later on will you need to worry about influenced item bases and what they are capable of rolling. those 12 sundering axes that dropped could have been very nice. although the base isnt the best base for boneshatter (thatd be the despot axe because its the fastest 2h axe), they could have had a solid phys and attack speed roll
