- since I am only posting things that have turned out nicely I thought I'd show you the behind the scenes wrecks that I have created over the past :D

For the first top, create an opening at the back of the neck and add a button or hook and eye. It'll be a lot easier to wear
It would but the zigzagging all around the seams drives me crazy 🥲
@@recreatefulchannelthere’s a setting on most homesew machines that has three straight stitches. It really is just a straight stitch that is done 3 times over itself allowing the fabric to stretch while looking like a straight stitch.
That last one is so cute and unique 😮
Thank you so much 🥰❤️
They all look so good for being “failed”! 😊
Aw thank you so much! 🩷🩷
First one looks sooo good
Thank youu, maybe I'll try again another time!
That last one 😍😍
One of my favourite tops I've ever made!
I am learning from your canceled projects. Thanks for sharing!
I am glad you do! That's exactly what they should be used for! :)
Last one is awesome
Thank you!! 🩷
Love patchwork top 😊
I am glad you do! 😃🩷
For the first one- just use a little extra differennt fabric, maybe even a wide elastic, just like your inspo picture. Also, I have sewn many stretchy shirts with just the inner stitching done in zigzag, just don't top-stitch it. This way all the zigzag stitching is hidden.
These are some great tips! Thank you 🩷
Agreed, also if you need to top stitch, just use a triple stitch, looks like a thicker straight stitch in the end and is for stretch material, if your machine has the option then use a lighting bolt stitch
Well I love the patchwork top!!! ❤❤
A blessing in disguise ✨️😃
Ah yes.... the darn zickzack as finishing on elastic fabrics. I hate it too! But I just can't justify the expense of a coverlock just for that!
I am glad I'm not the only one! 😃 even with an overlocker the zigzag can't always be avoided, so annoying!
Just get a double needle to sew active wear with a hidden zig zag
I've got one but quite often the stitch isn't looking right on certain fabrics :/
@@recreatefulchannel Try adjusting your tension or stitch size. Also, the size of your needle should match the weight of your fabric. If you get dissolvable fabric tape to tape your seams before sewing it can help with stretch or bias cut fabric. And, of course, a surger. You probably know most or all of that, but those are what I can think of.
@@recreatefulchannel Is your double needle for knit/stretch fabric or is it universal? That could be another problem.
❤❤❤

Hi! I have been sewing for a year now and thinking about getting a serger. I feel like that would make things easier and I would be 1. faster 2. more confident in projects and 3. my pieces would look better.
Do you think it’s worth the investment to get better at sewing?
100%
Not to be dramatic but my overlocker has changed my life 😂😂
Tell me u r German without telling me u r German (/austrian)
😂 how? Just because of the accent?
@@recreatefulchannel German is my first language
@@recreatefulchannel but am i right?
So I hate. lol
