the best fashion advice- don’t dress for your body, dress for your personality. I have owned and worn so many pieces that people love on me but it doesn’t align with my vibe or who i think i am.
yes!! i do think you should do both because it will look much better, but i also think that even if some piece of clothes doesn't fit you well, the fact that it makes sense on who you are and what you like it will be beautiful on you
This is great! I think it's good to have an awareness on why certain things look one way on you and another way on someone else, but you should use that knowledge to bring out your personality through your looks rather than just following arbitrary body type rules.
agreed x 1000 My mom blessed me with an hourglass figure, but I'm a bit tomboyish and don't feel like myself if I'm really sleek. I like pairing sexy pieces with something less form fitting or even "frumpy" like a flannel shirt.
My tip is - trendy makeup, hairstyles/cuts, nail polish and (sometimes) are more inexpensive ways to try trends. I've tried not to buy trendy clothing items so my clothing life cycles are longer but the other stuff lets you still experiment more accesibly
The ironing/steaming thing is huge for me. I think I look a lot more polished every day, but also, I find that spending that extra bit of time every week taking care of my clothes makes me appreciate them more and shop less. Like the more time you spend laundering, mending, ironing your clothes, the more you value them!
Two pieces of advice!! Dont sleep on tailored clothing. For some clothes you like but maybe you think dont quite suit you, consider getting them tailored. An adjustment to the waist or hem can make a world of a difference. If youre not sure, try pinning pieces you like before changing permanently. Also, clothing snd shoe care is important for longevity. At the end of every season, i make sure those pieces are cleaned and properly stored.
I took the “don’t sleep on tailored” clothing part literally and was so confused before I realized what you meant 😭 I was like, “why would I sleep on that??”
@@Picking_upY0urPetalZ lmao now i'm thinking of sleeping in a really well tailored premium silk pajama set or nightgown or something and i would certainly sleep on that lol although if it's "on" maybe it should be silk sheets or something hahaha
This is super specific; but the best fashion advise I got was from another creator called Hannah Louise Poston who has a series on fashion - she’s super eclectic and of the ‘dress for your comfort/how you want to feel’ camp. I love learning from both of you! One thing she mentioned while talking about dressing for comfort was wearing natural fabrics as a sweaty person. Literally changed the game for me b/c I swear polyester just starts smelling on me halfway through a hot day - icky!
I used to exclusively wear platform sneakers and boots, but I've transitioned to more low-profile shoes and I'm loving them. I thought I had to wear platforms because I'm so short and I have thicker ankles + legs, but the flatter soles and slimmer shoes actually complement me so well! I feel like a little doll in a dainty flat, and I'm not trying to hide any of my features.
I am a male professionally trained ballet dancer as a career when i was younger. I still maintain my posture and even after being out of the ballet world for so long people still comment on how I carry myself. Great video! Keep it up!
Great video 🥰 Neutrals aren't just black, white & tan. Stay in your fashion comfort zone. Never care about the situation, the outfit, and others. You just need to care about: stairs? Paved streets? If you don't look back at your outfit and think "wtf was I wearing?", you're not having fun. If everyone likes what you're wearing, it's boring. The most sustainable clothes are the pieces you already have. Try everything until you find what you love, never stop experimenting to find your style. Never wear something that's itchy. Wrong shoe theory. Think about the "effect" you want to give off: cool vs pretty? It doesn't look bad, you're just not used to seeing it on your body. Iron/steam everything. Fix your posture. Sandwich method. Take inspo, don't copy. Flattering clothes are overrated. If you wouldn't buy it from a normal store, don't thrift it. Don't stick to one aesthetic. Never wear more than three colors. Trying to make yourself look the most skinny/snatched is ruining your outfit. Good hair day = good outfit Don't dress your age, dress yourself. Wear your clothes at home, so when you wear it out, you're comfortable. If it doesn't make you feel like dancing in the dressing room, don't buy it. Everytime you're about to leave the house, put on one more accessory. Leave one thing undone. Eight point outfit. Nothing is timeless. Take off the last thing you put on. If you feel uncomfortable, you will look uncomfortable. Hair is an accessory. Coordinate, don't match. Always add a bit of red. Casually wear your nice pieces. Wear it three times before cropping/cutting your garment.
one thing i noticed was prevelant in this video is the creative rule: you have to learn the rules before you break them. the matching bag to shoes rule is a great example ☺️ matching will always look good… but why not have fun and break the rule
I love when you said that you just dress because you like the clothing not because it fits your body well! I find ever since I just began wearing clothes I genuinely enjoy vs ones that show off my "assets" like you said, I feel like my style has become way more expressive and catered to what I personally enjoy. I really loved this video!!💓💓
I definitely feel like there’s a difference between dressing to show off your assets and dressing with your body type in mind. Like dressing just to make yourself look skinny/flatter your a$$ etc. aren’t great, but balancing proportions, etc. can really elevate an outfit.
this truly is the best fashion advice video!! something that you said helped me so much and made me feel better "not everything you like is something you'd want to wear" because my pinterest is filledd with mini skirts and i love them so much and I've almost made a collection of mini skirts but I've never worn them out because I don't feel like good in them and they're uncomfortable. loved this vid sm
The wrong shoe theory literally is one of the things I have been performing forever because I love it so much and I'm glad you're telling all of us about it. It makes the outfit look intriguing already❤
One advice I guess I have is to wear the new thing you got immediately. I go to a clothing swap every month and I wear all my finds immediately to know if I actually like / can wear them and if not, back to the clothing swap they go. Plus it helps you figure out how you would realistically wear a piece so it doesn’t just get lost in your closet
I wear outfits with more than 3 colours as long as some of them are within the same 'family' - for example, I'll wear a cobalt blue T-shirt with dark green pants, white shoes, a burgundy bag and a light blue jeans jacket. They all feel like they are neutral shades apart from the cobalt blue. Would love to see you experiment with this in the next video!
i love this oh my god im so tired of being told just cus im short and hourglass that i ought to emphasize my waist all the time and wear tight stuff to avoid "drowning in fabric".... day to day i feel way more confident and comfy in loose, flow-y clothes.
My favorite advice is “You have no control over others opinions about you, you have no blame if they think bad of you”. I’m usually so scared of wearing clothes that I like because of what other people may think of me (specially weird men), but it’s none of my business, I have nothing to do with the way they think about woman. It has been helping me A LOT to think like that
I absolutely love wrong shoe theory. It's like throwing a wrench into an otherwise cohesive fit. I love wearing my skate shoes with track pants or my doc martens with my baggy skate jeans. Or like my retro basketball sneakers with a full techwear fit.
I absolutely love that I have very different personal style than you and still feel inspired after watching your videos! Thanks for keeping fashion fun and playful !
I love seeing someone who also dislikes matching shoes and bag. I always hated that look and almost everybody always tells me, you should color match. It looks so much more effortless, when you wear different, yet complimenting colors. 🙂
I still always love a platform sneaker Low profile sneakers have their place too though. Depends on the fit. My favorite tip you shared was the dress for how you want to feel. That changed everything for me so quick.
I think any dressing or fashion “rules” can be a place to start if you’re not confident about your own personal style. The 3 colour rule, the sandwich method, the point system, the contrast dressing … whatever. If it resonates with you for whatever reason, just go for it and try it for a while. What it tends to do is hone in your focus on details of why an outfit “works” or accomplishes giving a certain aesthetic. I say, go ahead and try them all on for size if you’re persistently not happy with your current style or you feel stuck in a rut. It’ll shake up your perspective. Kinda like what you said about changing the profile of your shoe - you get used to the way your body looks in certain proportions and what not. But there is one rule I will NOT break for myself and that rule is: I must feel comfortable in my body. Even to the point where I may put on an outfit I know looks good, I know I like, it might even be my most beloved outfit, but if that day I don’t feel totally at home in my own body, I’m not wearing it. You always always ALWAYS look your best when you feel your best. And on days when you’re struggling for whatever reason, the last thing you need is to be irritated with the way your clothes feel on your body. And, as in all things, knowing the “rules” sets you free to break them. It’s a rare person that is born with an unerring style compass who never needs someone to teach them the fundamentals. For most people, having a road map to get you started is necessary. Then, when you gain confidence, you can toss them rules right out the window.
I can’t stand those “fashion rules“ like those for body types, your hight and things like don’t wear baggy on baggy. I used to only wear low profile sneakers (and other shoes too) because I‘m tall and didn’t want to be taller than I already was, now I don’t care about that anymore I loove wearing platform shoes/sneakers.
I just recently realized I always dressed in a way to try to create or show an hourglass figure and to hide my „problem zones“ since then I dress way more comfy and slouchy etc. and feel sooooo much better, it’s still a process everytime I look in the mirror but I am trying my best. Also the chunky sneaker to low profile transition is so hard for me to. Still love my airforce ones because I struggle with my legs especially in shorts and I feel the chunky shoe balances me out. But I am trying to give less fucks and wear my converse, sambas etc.
Great video, as usual! I was surprised to hear you say that you feel like you are just starting to figure out the balance of working/putting out videos while being a mom because, from my perspective, you have been rocking it this whole time. Also, I love that your mom and your fella took over baby care so you could get a nap!

I love this video and concept so much. The only thing I’m going to continue to ignore is about the low profile shoes- I just find that platforms are always more comfortable (and yes I like them on my short legs sry) but I love all the advice and this style of video.
Ever since I started making my own money I’ve gone by the rule that if I really want a specific item/style from a piece and Ik I can’t find exactly what I want at a thrift shop, after looking for so long, then it’s ok to buy brand new even if it’s a little more pricey. And with this rule I always try to buy from brands that have a reputation of lasting YEARS. For example I wanted a cute pair of Mary Jane’s but couldn’t find the right pair in a size that fit me at a thrift so I bought a pair of doc martens which I believe are worth the money because they will last so long.
I like platforms because they're more likely to be wide-foot friendly. A lot of shoes that are on the lower length end ten to only be for people with slimmer feet except for crocs (the only non-platform shoe I wear besides vans). Not to say there aren't any that are wide foot friendly, it's just the ones that I want to partake in like ballet flats that don't cater to wide feet AT ALL. 😭
I dont really like the sandwich method because if you had a black top a white skirt and black shoes it wouldnt look as good as a black top white skirt and white shoes, idk if im explaining that right but yeah
This stuff is gold. One of my favourites is 'If everyone likes what you're wearing, it's boring'. HECK YES. I was watching a UA-camr with just under a million subscribers and yawning at every outfit, wondering how she got so many subscribers when there's literally zero fun in what she puts together. Then she asked her audience to tell her who they are and their age. I checked the comments. Most of her audience are well over the age ob 70! (The vlogger herself is in her early-to-mid-thirties.) No offence to older women, but to me, that said it all.
I do definitely agree with the "don't dress out of your comfort zone", HOWEVER, I personally like to thrift unique pieces that I wouldn't normally buy brand new, and find ways to style them with other comfort items. Kind of pushes me to try something new, without going overboard.
the wrong shoe theory is from stylist allison bornstein!!! you should definitely check her out, she says really interesting things about styling yourself and building your wardrobe

Can you do Uni outfit ideas ❤
Posted a couple videos ago!❤️
ur blush is so pretty! where is it from?
I LOOVE this, do u have a podcast?
I don’t! Just UA-cam❤️
nice vibe ❤
(The vlogger herself is in her early-to-mid-thirties.) No offence to older women, but to me, that said it all.
can we get another makeup routine soon??
I do definitely agree with the "don't dress out of your comfort zone", HOWEVER, I personally like to thrift unique pieces that I wouldn't normally buy brand new, and find ways to style them with other comfort items. Kind of pushes me to try something new, without going overboard.
