Did you guys ever do make more episodes of The Hollowmen, or plan to in the future? I love Utopia but The Hollowmen will always hold a special place in my heart, alongside the old Clarke & Dawe skits from 7:30 😊
When(or where?) do we get to stream the whole brilliant thing in the UK 📺 🙏
Doesn't work outside Australia...
The Utopia audience understand the importance of serious TV documentaries like this.
Hahahaha
Yep - spot on. Carrying on the great tradition of classics like Yes Minister/Prime Minister and The Thick Of It.
'What about us?'
'Who's 'us'?'
'Taxpayers'
'What have they got to do with it?'.
Yep!
"I intend to be stern..." he delivers a line so well
Yes minister/prime minister finally has competition for the most accurate documentary series about government.
Thick of it?
yes Minister was brilliant, but also have to say The Thick of it, In the Loop was really spot on! really spot on.
Trust me: having worked in both the public and private sectors, there's little difference.
when you can't tell if you should laugh or cry
pre-utopia was "the hollow man" which was more like yes (prime) minister insofar it was about an aussie PM and his office
Worst part is that it goes on no matter whose in government.
Yes, exactly.
But come election time the sheep will have no choice (they have to vote for the worst party or the second/third worst).
It does but it's worse with the LNP as they love outsourcing and then have to defend outsourcing to pos companies. PWC being a recent example.
It's the nature of government
Appoint a racist government and say you can go after all corporations owned by blacks. This way corporations go down.
I know it's billed as satire... but I think we all know that it's reality.
lol he's good..."make no mistake i intend to be stern....but i think we need to proceed cautiously". Luv it.
And down here at the bottom of the food chain it is inverted - to convert a minor speeding fine to an Official Warning and avoid paying any fine - an admission of guilt is required ......
I miss Utopia already. Working Dog should make more episodes per season. 13 episodes per season would be nice.
If people fund them, then yes. This stuff is expensive.
The reason it's good is that they don't make a lot of episodes.
@@ribbonsofnight Really? Gee I thought it was because it had quality writing, fun characters, a sense of comedic irony, but it turns out it's none of those things, it's because they don't make many episodes.
@@Ozvideo1959 to be honest I did feel like the quality of the episodes last season started deteriorating towards the end, a few more episodes might've been shit.
@@janithadharmabandu9663 Well, that's your opinion. I think most people thought it was pretty good from start to finish.
I think a corporate apology means so much more when it has sincere and or heartfelt in front of it .
🤣😂
I wish I could laugh at this incredibly well done satire.
But I'm crying at how accurate it actually is. People in way too many countries do NOT go to government to effectively serve - they go for easy paychecks and lazy working conditions.
Ive watched the juice media for 3 years and YT has never served me up this channel, why? What other gems is it hiding from me while is repeats the same recommendations I didnt click on the last 50 times I refreshed the page.
The greatest joke about all this, is that it's supposed to be satire!
This show was 100% more accurate than tv news.
Utopia was the best documentary ever made.
If these guys ever start giving out Lotto numbers I am all in.
Faaaaaaarrrk!! A couple of minutes is all I can handle before the pain gets too unbearable…
This is why I'm always touched whenever an internet celebrity apologises for anything.
I'm just not used to it.
"Lessons will be learned" .... on repeat
It's kinda like Juice Media government adds. So true you just can't help but laugh.
Oh god. This is so accurate that I feel like it was a transcript from an ATO/ASIC meeting 😣
LOL You missed the part where they make a (quiet) 'donation' to the council's slush fund, I mean discretionary spending fund.
Priceless 👍
"What about us?"
"Who?"
"Taxpayers?"
"What have they got to do with it?"
Would be funny if it weren't so accurate... still pretty funny though😂
How true.
So......Qantas right?
And Pwc, and others…
Sounds very Qantasy
Surely this is far more about PwC ?
I thought it was Google but it was PwC who shared details about the tax avoidance law to it's clients.
Qantas is a private company. This a a governmental department. Way way worse
So true.
Big win! Ah God, I feel so bad for Tony. The man's a saint.
Tragic reality :(
Ouch.
The high corporate salaries are the payments for selling your soul.
Work for govt long enough, you see this all the time.
Defence is the worst. Now, defence assets do cost a lot, but the money bounced around and the "oh, default on contract/late.................. hmmmm = (nothing happens, except they get more time and money)" is astounding.
But then again, everyone saw a govt say "Hmm, 25 million to put up a flagpole on a bridge??? Yep, sounds fair enough..." so you get what I am on about.
Must be nice on their planet.
Wow, this is Exactly how it feels like working for Goverment, any government. Politicians are spinless and if you want to keep working you'll slowly become spinless aswell, it's the small compromises that weaken your resolve, and sure enough, after a few years of yes Mam and yes Sir you'll weigh yourself and come up a bit spinless
We need to do something about the rampant corruption in this country.
Oh dear.
Physical pain I swear
"We would like to apologise if you feel that we may have established our corporate structure in a manner that may be seen to reduce our taxation liabilities below those normally ascribed by globally accepted accounting principles.
Our internal corporate structure actually makes perfect sense from an operational standpoint; reports that the Amsterdam office consists of one accountant and his dog are incorrect - we have a zero-tolerance policy for animals in the workplace."
I sense well paid job opportunity's when they change jobs
Yes failing upwards is a thing in government!
I sense a massive political donation, without strings of course.
like when the "Prosecutors" at ASIC change jobs to work at the companies from whom they just accepted their "amnesty" and "statement of apology" a.k.a. got let off denying they did anything wrong?
Imagine someone steals your wallet, and apologizes by throwing the change at you from the coin pouch.
...and people wonder why I despise government.
'Big win'....yet again for the money men. Screw the taxpayer!
Is this show ever going to be available to watch in the US?
I believe it's available under the name Dreamland in the US, I think due to a copyright dispute on the name?
Yeah, and people wonder why the Collective West is going to Hell......
Sure.
1,000th thumb up!
Jim is such a weasel
This makes my blood boil
This is EXACTLY how companies are treated in the US.
They never do.
When a business is fined for wrongdoing to its customers, that money goes to the government, and not the customers. Even when they find criminality, no one is arrested. At no stage does the government help the customer recover money from the criminal business.
I think I understood maybe 3 words used in this Documentary
Sharp writing
Did someone say 4fuxache¿‽¿
i cant watch this show it makes me too angry
Australia needs Tony. And really if Zelensky can pull it off….
They have motivation; we don't.
What zelensky to get us all killed, yeah no thanks
@@nicholassmith7984 pls china
these just makes me sad now
PwC will be grumbling about their situation.
I hate the public service
😃😃🇦🇺🙏👍
Dick the Butcher was right.
Utopia isn't a fictional show based on some half truths...its a documentary.
Cowardly corporate woke bullshit.
3 of those 4 words I agree 100% with. Corporate get out of jail frees like this have been going on well before 'woke' was a thing.
Blinking only one eye? That's the covid jab injury right there.
This stuff sounds like Ronald Reagan, actor and Former USA President, language...did the Aussies take advice from one of our worst presidents?
