There are two types of anger. One causes destruction (of self and others), wishes evil, is satisfied at the sufferings of others, continues to seek to damage or hurt, and it is almost obsessive. Righteous anger (better known as indignation) stems from a desire to end injustice, is hopeful, causes goodness to stem from it (whether as lesson learned or an action to cause peace and justice), wishes goodwill to the sufferer, and its effects are constructive (it builds). Example: an abusive spouse who continues to torture their victim spouse when they are trying to leave the harmful relationship. The anger that stems from evil is selfish, seeks to destroy the victim, cause them torture (physical, mental, emotional), and is willing to destroy the other person at all costs. The victim may one day feel indignation at the realization they were treated inhumanely, that they loved and were treated with hatred, wishes to distance themselves in order to restore and heal oneself, and lives in hopes of a safer, kinder tomorrow.
I am so angry at my family for mocking God, discarding Him. I have got to tell my mom there is a big issue but she probably won’t listen. I’m so angry. In my head everytime I think about what to say I get so angry. I think I need to calmly talk to her like you said be slow to anger
I understand!! I learned through prayer: Don't talk, model your life after Christ and His ways. Your family WILL notice! Pray for them. Remember, Christ IS THEIR Savior, u r not. Plant seeds and God will make them grow! 💗✌💗
Anger is 1 letter short of danger. Deal with your anger, be silent when angry, and separate yourself if you have anger issues and deal with root and the issue. Ask God to help you with that emotion so it doesnt Result in danger(saying things you cant take back), or fighting and quarreling or death. Rage, bitterness, and hate can be bigger monsters of anger. Peace and blessing to you all
that’s why we must be slow to anger, have patience. for if we have righteous anger we will. and we won’t do anything we don’t have to. and if we have to do anything then let it be for God’s sake
Ive been angry with my friends for they blaming Christians forcing religion on Muslims in China, Uyghurs and so and so pretty sure and I was defending and said ghat that wasnt right but other friends came in to say that you know no more than the girl i was talking to and that frustrated me so much
I believe the root cause of righteous anger - would be one not operating from an egotistical stand point and then having to deal with one in a total opposite state. The other 'unhelpful' person ins't listening to truth or the small voice, so then one must raise there words, give them benefit of the doubt. And if still nothing, then righteous anger is justified perhaps, you could say out of anger - "look you are behaving like a child ! "
This is confusing to me, because in corinthians 13 it also says that God keeps no record of wrongs. Thats very interesting because that means that if someone does us harm we are suppose to not hold it against them. But what are we to do then? Just let people hurt us or others intentionally and stay peaceful with them? And if God does not keep a record of evil, then why are we called to repentance?
Moses was hot with anger in the OT and in Mark 3rd chapter Christ looked around with anger. Anyhow I admittedly as a believer am annoyed by those who slander others, are materialistic, who lie and like Saul reject God's word.
Act on it if it causes goodwill. See an adult beating a child? Be angry and act on it. Defend the child. Simone is treating a person with no home in an undignified way? Be angry and act on it. Reprimand the person causing wrong, and remind the victim that they deserve to be treated with kindness and respect. Acting can anger can be very good, in fact, so long as we are moved for the world to be a better place.
Thank you. Appreciate the clarification. Difficult for women to express righteous anger after being repressed and silenced. Your explanation opens the door to finding constructive and safe ways to express such.
is it weird to follow the teachings of Jesus while simultaneously believing he was just a morally righteous regular human that taught forgiveness and tolerance
The words "righteous" and "anger" never even appear in the same verse in the Bible. Neither do "righteous" and "indignation". It is important to distinguish between anger and indignation because the bible uses the words differently. There are lots of times in the Bible when someone was angry and rightly so. There is never an instance when someone is filled with indignation rightly so unless it is God's indignation (judgment). So perhaps anger can be justified depending on the reason, but indignation belongs to the Lord.

Righteous anger doesn't have to cause goodness. The intent of an emotion and the fruit of an emotion are not the same.

Be angry and do not sin

It's very frustrating to be misrepresented. I know it well.
Righteous anger......being a Christian and having to comply with these Godless idiots . That’s righteous anger. Jesus Christ please come back soon....
Righteous anger does not mean that you have to comply...
Please God
Calling someone an idiot is ungodly in itself. So basically you are judging yourself here.

Thanks for that
Be angry and sin not .. over a life time this is impossible

It's okay to be angry. You just can't act on it
Yes you can. Jesus acted on his anger by flipping the tables in the corrupt temple.

He is also a God
