Thanks post 10 for the video on your chickens. Brings back memories for me when I would feed them grasshoppers as a treat. I also would play classical music for them and some would gather around me and start falling asleep, good memories.
My grandparents grew strawberries on last year’s chicken yard. One customer found that out and refused to buy anymore strawberries from them. But they did come back in the fall to buy the large pumpkins which they grew over last year’s outhouse pit. What you don’t know won’t hurt you!
Post, the manure/straw mixture will help your garden tremendously. Here in the southern climates of the US we like to use it because it's organic and that means less chemicals. Suggestion....I grew up on a small chicken farm. So consider putting your roost/perch in stairstep fashion. It's help the chickens not poop on each other at night and layers out the poop just a touch. This method allows it to be easier to shovel
Little tip, get yourself a bag of sand, any kind will do, i mostly bought play sand that you can buy for your kids, and pour that in the holes where they like to take sand baths, seeing the dirt they are bathing in, is full of feces as chickens poop everywhere they walk. I actually made a big box once, closed it up with tarp, filled it up with sand, and the chickens loved it and when it rained i closed it with a lid so when it was dry out, they had dry sand to bath in! And regarding the maggots you found in the poop, look into garlic and chickens, as raw garlic is a natural antibiotic and all kind of critters hate the smell of it.
Thanks again post 10 for your videos. As I said in an earlier video of yours, I loved chickens from a young age, but never had the opportunity to raise them myself. So enjoy watching you enjoying taking care of them. Good for you!
I really enjoyed the video, it was so interesting and I enjoy your life around the house as well as camping and the food truck adventures. Thanks for your time and videos 😊. So happy you found a partner in life ❤ Georgia Fan!
Those chickens are changing their personalities because they now have such a caring , loving daddy. Chickens are very smart. Mom fed our chickens warm oatmeal leftover from our breakfast during the Winter and we always had eggs. Our chickens were mostly Banti chickens, great breed. The chickens may have been hesitant to eat the cantaloupe due to the white plate. Chickens love cantaloupe usually. If there was nutmeg in the pumpkin pie it might have put them off the pie.❤🐓🐔🐥
Are you feeding them laying mash? They will lay all year round but it has harmones in it. They love having stuff to scratch in. Hey is ok but they love leaves and straw. That holds alot of bugs under them. Ive raised over 4000 different rypes of chickens and learned alot. Enjoy them and if U place mothballs around, but away from the pen, where they can not reach them, snakes will stay away. Watch for snakes as well. They hate mothballs as well. Try it. Youll be surprised Take care and God bless.🥰
when you hear the chickens sing they are happy and well fed the best food i had chickens long time ago you should keep there pens cleaner so they don't get sick you will have many happy hours with them
there is a farm in Vermont that feeds their chickens with horse manure. They have a massive covered pile that get delivered now and then with a canopy above it. The chickens run and climb all over it looking for the bugs and insects that call it home. with the amount of bacteria in the pile, it keeps warm throughout the winter and the chickens never have a problem finding food while scratching down the pile.
the egg laying slows down in the fall/winter because the days are shorter. Chickens need a certain amount of daylight every day. Also, they could be molting. My chicken coop looks like they have a big pillow fight every night. Your chickens look pretty healthy and happy to me. They LOVE to free range and find all kinds of good stuff.
Always something to watch on your channels. Thanks for the great content. I wish some others had it figured out, you have your audience figured out. I used to buy wax worms at the bait store for ice fishing.
i remember you saying you rarely eat breakfast and this proves it lol Also i think the reason they don't go for the food right away is they are waiting for the more brave of the flock to go first so they know it's safe.
We call chickens ‘chooks’ down here in Australia. So I love your rather luxurious chook shed. How do you keep them warm in your very cold winter? Would be interesting to know.
Hey post I heard you mentioned sometimes it's hard to get the chickens to go back in the chicken coop You can try a very long pole and a large black trash bag at the end of it and wave it in the air above their heads and they should automatically run away and hide from it thinking it's a hawk or a bird of prey
I always roast the pumpkin seeds and eat them they're delicious. Little bit of salt cinnamon and low heated up in about 200 and let them roast all until dried out
You can put a small amount of cayenne pepper in their water stir it in they can't even taste it but once it gets into them it warms them up internally a bit
Because it is designed to roll in the back so they can't peck at it and eat it. As soon as they get up the egg disappears, it also prevents them from becoming broody
Those blue worms are scary. We have nothing like those in NZ. I think if we did, I would be digging in the garden and think I had dug through a cable wire, if we had them here Do your eggs taste different with the different foods you give them? I know if we gave ours eel the eggs tasted fishy.
I used to have chickens when i was a kid then it progressed to dogs, cats, guinea pigs, rabbits, tortoises, fish, parrots and i had to feed them all before i went to school and again when i got home. Now im 67 and live in a tiny apartment and cant have any pets.
Use that poop in your garden this spring. but do not put to much or it will burn up your produce. Make you a pile off to the size because it will build up.
Hi there post i always wanted to make a chicken scoop but never really know how to in your video here i learn so much man how to i might just try it with just couple chicken 🐔
Thanks post 10 for the video on your chickens. Brings back memories for me when I would feed them grasshoppers as a treat. I also would play classical music for them and some would gather around me and start falling asleep, good memories.
Your channel will never stop being my favorite. Hands down the best channel. Would love to know more post 10 lore!

😂They like pumpkin as much as I do.
It was fun to meet your chickens.
Thank you Post 10, for another great video. You're going to be a great DAd, when you have kids

Without a doubt, the best UA-cam channel ever created. I’ve actually stopped watching other channels to wait for your videos 😂
i love the sounds chickens make
My dog loves to watch your Chickens.
So cool seeing the bearded dragon too!
You could put the dry leaves from your garden with the hens so that the soil doesn't get so muddy.
Quite the VARIETY on this channel !
Love it ! 💕
Just proves once again you can lead your chickens to a pie but you can't make them eat it.
I really enjoyed the video, it was so interesting and I enjoy your life around the house as well as camping and the food truck adventures. Thanks for your time and videos 😊. So happy you found a partner in life ❤

You both take great care of your animals. They all look healthy and happy.
Can’t wait for the winter truck camping video hope it is a week long adventure
Brilliant video post 10. Love when you and your lady are both in a video. Love watching the chicken videos too. Love from us both, in the UK XXXXX
Very interesting. You always have interesting videos. Love watching you.❤
For cheeks rooster, you can rename them "Mr. Cheeks" and "Mrs. Cheeks"

Another AWESOME video Post 👍💜
Hey, Post. I loved hand feeding my spiked lizard 😊
when you hear the chickens sing they are happy and well fed the best food i had chickens long time ago you should keep there pens cleaner so they don't get sick you will have many happy hours with them
I love your chicken coop the chickens are so cute 👍❤️
Make sure that wiring in the coop is stronger than regular chicken wire! It's good at keeping chickens in, but not good at keeping raccoons out.
Thanks Post.
You're living the life my friend 👏👏👏
Great vid, love the chicken timw
Very informative. Thanks. The man the myth the legend

Lovely to listen to. (I was busy cutting material)
Love it my Nan and grandma have chickens I’m getting some when I get my house soon
Great video. My chickens have slowed down on the egg production. getting cold.
Love this video. Too short. Hope you do more like this again. 👍
Today I watched Post do chores.
That's a lot of poop.
Chicken are so sociable there brilliant
Always something to watch on your channels. Thanks for the great content. I wish some others had it figured out, you have your audience figured out. I used to buy wax worms at the bait store for ice fishing.
Back when I had chickens as a kid, I also used the danger call to get them back to the coop. Cheers posty.
i remember you saying you rarely eat breakfast and this proves it lol

Hope the Chickens will give a buffet for Post 10 Too😁
I also placed my bug zapper in there pens and that was there 1st meal of their day. They loved it.
My grandma had chickens and she liked “ Dominique’s” best. That’s what she called them. She said they had more feathers, more meat and larger eggs.
You're a true Horsefighter!❤
Wow you offer such a wide variety of foods for your chickens they are spoilt for choice. And love the bearded dragons, beautiful.
Love the video, came over from Midwest Magic Cleaning
Grass cuttings , woodchip and sawdust, they will turn it into compost, and it helps to keep the coup dry...

@@rugbug13 shaking the feed bag helps too!😉😉
Yes, more super worms please!
Nice content
cool love to see you posting i am a bid fan of videos😃
Maybe having some of the food on a plate kept them from being interested in that food. Just a thought.
Love the video. Very educational.
FYI, pumpkin is a squash 🙂
Chickens love sesame seeds, raisins and sunflower seeds😀
When you're scraping & cleaning out it's good to wear a respirator, you can get lung issues over time with the poo dust.
Eye protection, too! My friend’s dad got histoplasmosis and it spread to his eyes-wiped out his vision after years of caring for his chickens.
Your kitty is so cute I want to see it more
Don’t you think u need more straw I. The cubby holes so they can nest up there. It keeps them warm also.
as the days get shorter and less light they stop laying keep the light on longer hours you may see more eggs good luck
Thanks Post! 👊🏻👍🏻 Appreciate you always my friend 🙏🏻 God Bless
For years I have cooked down my own pumpkins for pie. Makes great pie!
🎃🎃🥧🥧

Hello from the 1904 Electrc Company House. Rocky coast of Maine, US. October 28, 2024 Monday.
That boat propeller at around 23:20 has seen some rough use in the shallows!
When you put out food that isn't seeds, rice, worms, etc., do you need to clean up the uneaten remains so they don't attract other critters?
I have yet to find anything my chickens don't like. I put all their stuff right on the ground. They like scratching!
Do the chickens eat slugs? That would be awesome if they did, but I think slugs have a coating to ward off predators.
Midwest Magic Cleaning sent me. 😊
More reptile videos please 🙏 ❤
It's a wonderful day for pie 🎶
You can put a small amount of cayenne pepper in their water stir it in they can't even taste it but once it gets into them it warms them up internally a bit
Could you do an update on thirsty tree culvert??????
why dont you put hay in the nesting boxes??

@@post.10that is smart if you don’t want babies. 😂😂
Awesome

Morning post even tho know not morning any more:)

The tomato hornworm, turns into the hawk moth. It's a big caterpillar

HEY EVERYONE 🐔
Hello
Do the rosters have names cos you could incorporate Roosevelt such as franklin d. roostervelt
good vid
Where did you get this box of super worms from?
If u feed them eggs it also strengthens their shells. Lots of chicken owners do that
Send that pumpkin pie my way! I'll eat it.
does a fresh-laid egg have any odor?
Not really
You should put some hay in the nesting boxes
👍👍
Started giving my chickens botfly larvae they said you can replace oyster shells for calcium
You can spread those worms out more so the other guys get some.
You feed them a lot. Lolo. Love this. U have some fat healthy chickens
🍁
🥰🐔
Some hay in the nests on the wall and the chickens will lay there eggs in the Nesta.
What if you named the grey chick Rocky?
Hi there post i always wanted to make a chicken scoop but never really know how to in your video here i learn so much man how to i might just try it with just couple chicken 🐔
