1:18:12 All jokes aside, tell me honestly if Van Halen would have been as big without David Lee Roth's lyrics, vocals and visual aesthetics.🤔

This guy is a hidden gem of talent and stories. Genuine guy who you can tell did it all for the love of music and playing. It's great to catalog all these stories on YT as well.

Awesome show, amazing stories and great perspective on being a musician. Greg has a super memory, disproving the old adage 'if you can remember those days, you weren't 'really' there' (originally about the sixties). Cheers!

GREAT video! You guys will have to have Greg back. Man, the stories he has!
All I hear from folks out in Cali/LA is what is said here and there is no scene out there and no one hanging out and going to shows!!
    COMPLETELY different in Detroit!
There is a HUGE scene and clubs expanding!! Besides the older ones (Harpos, Token Lounge, Diesel's)....The Roxy (Rochester) just opened, District 142 (Wyandotte) just opened, and the old country bar changed from Diamondback Saloon to Diamondback Music Hall just completed renovated and opened under the new name and booking!!! :O
People go out on the weekend and ALL THE TIME, hang out and after hours. There is a scene, and seems to be EXPANDING! COMPLETELY different than the feedback from LA/California and the Go-To place and we're enjoying the shit out of it and for the last 10 years as the entire city has been getting renovated and a destination again, fyi!!

Scott splawn would be a good guest... Greg Chaisson from jake e Lee's original Badlands, who manages bizarre guitar in Phoenix Arizona would be cool

Ive got a 73' grey weave slant 4x10 (4x12 now) Marshall and it's 1/2" ply all around with same MDF back. When I got it in 92' it had its tolex but no grill cloth and a bare back. Around 97' I added the cloth and tolex and the sound changed a bit, a little harder. Soon after my shit glue job on the tolex failed so off it came. Noticeably more ring. It moves around more than the 3/4" cab I think so it's better for lower volume

I really dig Greg leon ! My high school was the 80’s and I was a m t v religious watcher back then! I’m. In Tennessee so back then I had never heard of him! What Greg’s dad told him was really right! What I will say to Greg you are making it ! Your here and happy at what you do ! 🤘

Loved Greg’s stories of LA in the early 80s. I gotta go watch the Decline of Western Civilization now. Odin! Odin!

This guy is a treasure! His recollection and stories are amazing! What a memory!
He winds up being given a 71’ Marshall that was being used as a doorstop which eventually was then used by Eddie Van Halen on the Beat It solo. Talk about a amp with pedigree! His wife dated Neil Schon. He was a Yngwies first gig! He was Randy Rhoads favorite guitar player! That’s a high compliment to say the least. He holds on the Frank Marinos phone number for 2 years! He plays the national anthem in front of thousands at a festival fulfilling a lifelong dream! Tommy Lee was his drummer. Hes also great amp tech and if that’s not enough I wind up checking out his playing since we both live Hendrix, Uli and Frank Marino and I’m blown away by his playing! I can totally hear Uli and Frank Marino in his playing. I hear some Gary Moore too! This guy is too much! I’m a instant fan!
All I can say is wow! 🎸

You were next in line after Eddie and Randy, but you didn't want to be in Motley, you quit Quiet Riot and Dokken. All the of those guitarists became legends. Send like you got in your own way wanting to be Rainbow instead of creating the new scene.

Question for Dave, would a Peavey 30 - or - 50 watt be a good amp to start my modding of tube amps?

This was a great show! Greg is extremely unique to the SoCal scene of the time as a smokin' guitarist that is also the lead vocalist, really great to hear from him. Someone you guys should maybe try and talk with is a guitarist/vocalist named Tony Reed. Well known in underground hard rock circles, and a absolute tone hound/gear head. I really like his work with his band called Mos Generator, and if you guys really want to fill 2 hours of gear talk, you'd likely get it with Tony. He was a drummer first and has done records where he plays everything. Very talented and hard working

Honestly I’ve never heard of this guy and that’s unfortunate. Great stories and great attitude. One of my faves!
