George is great. I don’t think he realizes just how highly people from my generation regard him as a guitar hero. Kudos to Mr. Scary.

George seems so humble, but lets be clear, he is one of the big three (IMO) - EVH, Randy and George. Jake and Warren are a close 4 & 5. You are privileged to have this legend on your show!

Yup he is part of the big 3, Lynch told RR about Karl Sandoval and the guitars he builds, hence the polka dot V! GL is a great human being, I met him and he told me I sounded good! EVH would never say that

I agree with your list, but Yngwie Malmsteen deserves to be on it also. When it comes to the 80's Yngwie Malmsteen most definitely shocked the world when it comes to guitar playing. His solo albums , the Steeler album, and the Alcatrazz albums were massively insane when they came out.

I finally got around to giving this interview a listen. Great chat. I remembered seeing Dokken Live back home in Saginaw opening up for Aerosmith, 1988. And once again for the Monsters of Rock at the Silverdome.

Loved how George was picking Dave's brain on the tech details of amps. Even someone as accomplished as George is still on the lookout for that one little tidbit that might help improve his tone. We can all relate!

I was so lucky in 1983, my first concert, to see Dokken open for Dio. Was sold 30 seconds into "Tooth and Nail" seeing George Lynch play, and been a fan ever since. Wish I had saved all 5 of the ticket stubs from the Dokken concerts I went to in the 80's

it's interesting. I've seen Dokken live 6 times I think, all in the 80's but never went to see them specifically if that makes sense. They opened for Dio, Triumph, Van Halen, and several other bands I saw back then...they always put on a great show....but I think they are one of the bands I've seen the most live but never went to see them specifically which is a testament to how hard a working band they were. Great interview!

I have to say. There's been a lot of great Tone Talk Ep. but this one by far is my favorite. I was laughing so hard when George was telling the story of the stolen guitar my wife came from the other room to ask what I was laughing at. I told her to watch this and we both laughed for about fifteen minutes together. What a incredible person an player. Great show guys !! Can't wait for part 2.

All of the other vids seemed as if he was burned out which I get Seems like a truly nice dude and my 2nd favorite guitarist of all time (1st is the immortal EVH) since 1984. BTW Mr Page is right there at 3rd. probably cuz I was a teen in the 80s.

Cool to hear that he ditched the pedal board. I came to the same conclusion. Pedals can be fun as hell, but lets be really they aren't terribly necessary to make real music. I also feel they are very expensive, especially just to be used as a toy.

The LA band George mentions at 41.00ish that had magic and illusions and holograms was called "Sorcery" . They also starred in a Australian movie called "Stunt Rock"; horrid fabercobbled '70s movie, Charlies Angles with Band footage thrown in. Here is a link to the Sorcery clips..... oh so '70s

Saw Dokken live for the first time opening for Judas Priest, George sounded good but Don's voice was so weak it was pretty embarrassing.

Actually have heard from George word for word right before this show was taped, maybe the night before, new Bedford, greasy luck pub, fucking tone was massive, Robert Mason was amazing and so was Scott Coogan on drums, combined with Sean McNabb's background vocals the songs were spot on, but I had meet and greet tickets with my brother and I had driven 2 hours to get there and the street the club was on had fire trucks blocking us in on a 1 way street with nowhere to park, so we were 5 minutes late, street fighting man was playing and the girl up front was like Haha you guys missed the meet and greet like it was funny but it was the club having a fire drill and I talked to the bouncers and next thing you know were running up 6 flights of stairs and walked in a room with just the 4 band members, George was on his phone back to me and I walked up like, dude what's up bro! The band was awesome, grateful for us still coming out and George talked to me for a while and my brother asked him that question and he got the same answer verbatim
