Hello Lucy! I just got my acceptance as a 2nd year transfer to NU from a community college! Your video was incredibly helpful when I wrote my essay and I want to thank you so much! Any future watchers and prospective transfer to nu, seriously take her advice: -clearly present a legitimate reason to transfer (why not at current, but why at nu?) -explain your own interests (origin and development) -and relate to what nu *specifically* offers that can support and also for nu to benefit from your “niche.” -RESEARCH and attend those online student & admissions office panels!!
Hi Maria! Congrats on your acceptance to NU!! I’m so happy for you and I’m glad you found my videos helpful! I hope to see you on campus next year! Go Cats!
Hi @MarbeanTrees, I am currently in a community college and watching videos for guidelines it would be great if there is more things for a transfer student like me, I am gonna transfer to nu this year.
I am sooooo glad I watched this video. I followed this format similarly but using my own experiences and yesterday I received my Acceptance letter to Vanderbilt as a 2nd year transfer!!!
I just started to on my "why Northwestern" essay right now. This video just come across at a perfect time! It's impressive that the quality of your videos are always excellent!
Hi! I recently watched your video on your Northwestern transfer essay. I had a question about this years prompt about background/community and how that would lead to my engagement on campus. I feel like I don’t really have anything very interesting in my background so I don’t know what I should say. How would you approach this? Thank you!
Hi I would try to think of any identity, skill, or experience that you are passionate about. Then go on the university’s website and try to find clubs or on campus activities that align with what you are passionate about. Then try to relate the clubs to your passion and how you would engage with those clubs on campus! Good luck!
Thanks! And no I don’t have my essay posted anywhere. I want to discourage people from copying and pasting parts of my essay so that they can focus on making their essay unique to them!
