Just an amazing song! I feel like I am unfortunately deprived of these amazing classics. But we are learning together! #deeppurple #classicrock #rock #reaction #live
Here's a list of some other 70s artists and rock bands you should consider reacting to (I know you're already aware of Zeppelin, CCR, Rush and Jethro Tull): - Steppenwolf - Bad Company - The Guess Who - Black Sabbath - Uriah Heep - Yes - Strawbs - Genesis - Emerson, Lake and Palmer - Grand Funk Railroad - Pink Floyd - King Crimson - The Moody Blues - Elton John - The Allman Brothers Band - Frank Zappa and The Mothers - Peter Frampton - Rainbow - Max Webster - Electric Light Orchestra - David Bowie - Roxy Music
I don't know who Max Webster is, though I do know that STATUS QUO are the best and greatest Rock Band in history. Peter Frampton is a soft penis. Yes are directionless Prog rubbish. If you are going to include The Guess Who then the natural thought process would be to include BTO. Randy Bachman was in both Bands. The Strawbs were a Right-Wing Conservative anti-Union group. There are some cool Bands on your list though. Bad Co. are way good.
Pink Floyd 11 and Almond Brothers 15 ? I'm hoping this is random. All and honestly all great bands. Saw most of em in the 70s or 80s. Live ? Gotta give it to Pink Floyd #1. Jam band ? Almond Brothers can take a 3 minute song and turn it into a 30 minute masterpiece. Just my opinion. This guy is digging a bunch of deep holes if he's unfamiliar with 70s music. I'd do it again. Peace ✌️
Just as you appreciated this great track, I appreciated your eloquent and meaningful comments.Thank you. In the 70's the performers were musicians. Today the performers are... performers.
Deep Purple were amazing live and their gigs were always about the music .The live double album Made In Japan is probably the best live album ever made .
From Australia , the great legendary DEEP PURPLE , greatest British Rock band of the late 60s early 70s era , sorry Led Zeppelin people love them aswell , Peace from down under
Deep Purple was so much more than smoke on the water , wait till you hear Fireball !! Studio version is fine !! Who else , , Johnny and Edgar Winter , , Tobacco Road , live !
ABSOLUTELY CORRECT! Nothing beats a 70's rock guitar solo. And the best of them all were by Ritchie Blackmore! Greatest guitarist to have ever walked the earth.
The Year:1973 The Venue: The Royal Albert Hall: West London, with 5,000 capacity crowd The Group: Deep Purple The cost...............................25 PENCE or 34 CENTS.....
They literally wrote this song on a tour bus when a reporter who was accompanying the band asked about their songwriting process. They wrote it on the bus and performed it that night!
Eruption begun today like twenty minutes drive away from my home.Everybody are going to see it but i prefer staying home and listen to Deep Purple .I´m 66 years old and they have been by my side since i was 10 or 12 years old. They are pure Gold.
I'm 75 now, but back in the day, driving my firebird 440 with red metal flake finish and white convertible top, this track on the tape deck, with power amp and huge speakers, always got me to the end of the line, petal to the metal.
Thank you for your comments, I am 64 and was born with this kind of music, with respect for music of any time I have the impression that nowadays it is not so much about creativity, experimentation pure skills and just being on top of your art but rather production, marketing, fashion, etc.. maybe wrong but this is why I personally listen much less to modern and more to classic rock/pop music
Music is recorded, one , to spread the word for money ,two as an archive for you. You are getting the same enjoyment as we got listening for the first time.
As a 59 year old Welshman can I just say welcome to European Rock . From here to Sabaton, Epica, Nightwish, Within Temptation. I have lived this for nearly all my life. Welcome my friend.😊
You reacted very respectfully, as I'm one of those 'old guys' who grew up listening to this band and still listen to them to this day! Glad you enjoyed them as the music they made was outstanding.
This is the greatest live version of any song ever recorded. The intro sets it up, then it just kicks ass from beginning to end, and only gets more intense as it goes on. It's worth listening to the "Machine Head" studio version (which is great BTW), just to appreciate how elevated and amazing this version is.
I know what you mean about freebird, mine is by the same band, but sweet home Alabama, to cut a long story short, I was working on a Friday Saturday in London and having to stay overnight, so as you do we went out to the pub, as we were walking along the street, we heard Alabama coming out so we said this is the place as it’s playing our music, low and behold it was my cousin on the drums who I had not seen for 10yrs. The power of music.
What is different is that this was groundbreaking stuff in the 70's, they along with Sabbath and Zep were creating a new genre, louder and faster than anything that had gone before. It was new and had a level of excitement about it because of that. That excitement cannot be repeated, but there is lots of fantastic music around today. You just need to keep an open mind and listen out for it.

In May of 2005, three retired guys sold out Royal Albert Hall for four shows. People in the crowd weren't alive when they were popular. Cream. Crossroads.
Lazy is another song that is high energy. Child In Time showcases Ian Gillen five octave range. In 73 there was a band called Hocus Pocus . They were performing Focus on The Midnight Special television show but there wasn't enough time for them to perform their song or so one would have thought. The song in normal time is a trip. But to watch them do the song in double time it's hilarious. They were a Dutch rock band. I've been a Rancher for seven decades. I am as much old country music as anything. Country had a lot of great guitar players like Chet Atkins, Roy Clark, Les Paul, Glen Campbell,....... 🤠🏞️🐂
Did you know frontman Ian Gillan was Jesus from the original album Jesus Christ Superstar ? Look at him ! Listen to him! Andrew Lloyd Webber saw him on TV singing Child In Time and screamed, “ That’s my Jesus!” There’s video of him singing Gethsemane.
Deep Purple was one of those bands that sounded better live than in the studio. They were so musically gifted and their jam sessions on stage where pure chaos. I was so lucky to have grown up in the 70's.
*DEEP PURPLE fun fact:* ---------------- How's this for an interesting statistic... Deep Purple has put out at least one album in each of the last seven (7!!) decades that charted at #20 or higher, somewhere in the world. The first to reach a Top 20 spot was released in 1968, and the most recent was released in 2020. Each of those points is remarkable alone, but combined it's absolutely awe-inspiring!
In fact, they released at least 2 albums per decade, which at least got into the top 10 in the charts of different countries (except for the first three albums), and 11 albums took the first place. in the 60s - 3, in the 70s - 7, in the 80s - 2, in the 90s - 4, in the 2000s - 2, 2010s - 2, 2020s - 2 and they are preparing more one album that I'm looking forward to. ☺
Listen to “In Rock”, “Fireball”, “Machine Head”, “Who Do We Think We Are” and then all of “Made in Japan” and “In Concert” ( I think it’s the 1971 Denmark show) and you will see where all the hard rock and metal you know came from 🤙🏻
Time machine -- exactly. Hearing this takes me back in time. I used to play this back when I had a '70 'Cuda -- "Go Mango" orange, black vinyl top, 383 with a "Slap Stick." Kids aren't allowed to even look at pictures of that car today without wearing a helmet. ••• Headphones now are amazing, but not the same as big honking speakers that vibrate your whole body. You've heard of "muscle memory." Well, my generation has that, only for music. You should make a list. Get your grandpa's tower speakers and amp out of his attic. Best speeding music ever. Back in '75 I'd put this in my 8 track and do naughty things to the speed limit on the 417 just after it opened. No traffic, no cops, just virgin asphalt and Deep Purple blasting through the speakers.
Hey bro!! Hahaha, under a rock!! Hahaha. This is the best song to drive in a road with a nice compasión. Good reaction. Thanks. Greettings from Argentina
Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich was on his first rock concert on this concert i Denmark, when he was 11. It changedf his life forever and gave so much to Metallica, who made a little album of their inspirators, and there are several Deep Purple numbers on it-
This song was born on a tour bus going to Portsmouth in 1971 when a reporter asked the band how they wrote songs. To demonstrate, guitarist Ritchie Blackmore grabbed an acoustic guitar and began playing a riff consisting of a single "G" repeated over and over, while vocalist Ian Gillan improvised lyrics over the top. They performed it that night
No need to feel bad man, there is just so much music in the world now. When this was released there was less than 20 years of rock output to be aware of, now there is almost 70. plus the digital age has made it much easier for more bands to get exposure and therefore add an even greater amount to the pool every year. Health warning for playing Highway star in the car though - it has a magic effect increasing gravity under your right foot.
The audio is from Made In Japan, the video is from Copenhagen. Ritchie didn't play the famous solo in Copenhagen for some reason. And regarding Made In Japan, it's live in it's true word. No overdubs och fixing with anything. And that goes for almost every live recording of Deep Purple, exect for some of the Nobody's Perfect live album.

I was fortunate to go up in this era....im glad these famous bands are returning to the scene...we used to have to search the record stores for this great stuff way back..
I grew up with these guys along with Black Sabbath, Pink Floyd, Yes, Genesis, Jethro Tull and others. And they were my "favourites" but not any one of them was my out right favourite. Fast forward 40-50 years and I have been blind sided by a recent band that I would never have thought would occupy my top spot. A band that does admit to being influenced by Deep Purple. I recommend you check out LOVEBITES.
Smoke on the water was an album ladder because they were one song short of the requisite number of tracks and they hadn’t got anything to hand. So wrote about their experiences of that trip in Switzerland. From desperate padding to legendary rock anthem
I am so glad you've got a place in your heart for old school rock. These guys laid the foundations of modern rock. Lars Ulrich of Metallica raves about them and has done since he was a child. It's perfect in its imperfection. No two nights were ever the same with this band. Solos, length of songs, tempo......it all depended on the day. They were very much in favour of ebb and flow, when the song gets exiting the music speeds up a little bit which adds even more excitement. Keep the music coming, I'm loving your reactions
Fireball from this show or 70 in Paris. Lazy would be a good one too, from this album. Of the 3 big bands from this time they were under rated and didn't get the airplay. Peace
Hi Daniel, I first heard this song about 6 months ago on the radio had no idea who it was ... bit before my time! until I asked my partner, lol,he knew straight away it was deep purple. Been loving listening to it ever since. Glad you choose this one. Hugs from UK 😁

I'm here because you popped up in my feed for 'Highway Star' reaction videos - one of my all-time fave songs. Pleased to see you appreciatibg Deep Purple.
I don’t think they will ever be a better period for rock music than the seventies and eighties. I was 11 when I heard these songs and I got hooked for life and turned out to be a metal fan later on.

Mind you, I think this solo is listed in the top ten of all time.
Ah, the song that launched a thousand speeding tickets! 😂
Deep purple ❤❤❤❤
it's what you listen too when you want a speeding ticket!
Peace
Should have done the Machine Head version , this video n audio were from two different places . Deep Purples best line up .
Hi Daniel, I first heard this song about 6 months ago on the radio had no idea who it was ... bit before my time! until I asked my partner, lol,he knew straight away it was deep purple. Been loving listening to it ever since. Glad you choose this one. Hugs from UK 😁
The quintessential Deep Purple song … THEE best live rock band of all time.
Blackmore, Gillan, Glover, Lord, Paice.
Do you sleep, sir? Your face is all up in my feed... lol
Can't go wrong w Deep Purple! Glad to see younger folks intetested in the classics!
Hi Daniel from the UK. Just discovered your channel. Having followed and commented on 'Embrace The Suck' for years, didn't realise you had your own.
Saw DP live in Athens last week. This is the song they opened their set with. Just amazing. Decades later and still as strong as ever 🤘
Seen them last november, still sooo good with most of them about 77 years old ( Ian,)Roger)
The only reaction channel that makes a 4 minute video into 20 minutes lol
