Not taking away from the new home builds you do but this is near to my heart!! This gentleman is truly remaking an older home beautiful again...with your help!! She is going to be a gem in that community and I hope you capture it all. Love to see what color the siding will be. The steps turned out gorgeous.
Josh (the homeowner) is a good friend of mine and has been putting in a ton of work into their house! I’m excited to do the patio next! Thanks for watching!
You are related to your Dad. Great job on the steps, also narrating and explaining the process. Looking forward to your videos of your step by step development of your homestead.
Just got my cameras in today for my channel! I’ll be making videos of the property/home development as well as videos on different firearms! Thanks for watching!
In the winter come to Florida and build me a new entry steps. Wonderful work
Great Video Steve and amazing skills. We have a set of poured steps at our cottage in the Adirondacks that was constructed around 1953. Concrete was mixed by hand and shoveled in. Not a crack in it after all these years. Keep up the great videos, my wife and I really enjoy watching!
I have the utmost respect for the older generations that hand mixed the concrete. 👍🏻👍🏻
Also, thanks for watching!
We mixed some concrete by hand, it is hard work. No lifting weights this days lol
I remember parking my skid and using it to brace forms. And then putting 1 more brace. And before pouring we put another brace. And while pouring I wanted a few more. People don't realize the sheer amount of weight of concrete. Great looking set of steps guys and awesome video!
Thank you very much!
Nice work. You did a great job on video as well.
I love the look of those steps. Awesome job!
Wow, Seriously Steve....You might want to consider a career in Concrete😎
I’ve considered it haha thanks for watching!
Nice job steve, instead of blocks we use bales of hay they work great.
Great job, 👍hope your friend appreciated all your work
You guys are good. I never miss a video. Thanks!
Hey Tom, your son is a natural doing the videos and calmly explaining his thinking. I think we have the next Bob Vila!
I like the your attention to detail and how well the steps turned out. I watch all of your videos. So glad that Mike Morgan from “Outdoors with the Morgan’s” introduced and promoted your channel. I learn something new about concrete work every time I watch one of your videos. Keep up the great work.
Thanks for watching!
Great video ... informative, great attention to detail, and excellent result.
Just very intrresting.
Interesting video Steve. Thanks for publishing.
Thank you! Thanks for watching!
That is one hell of a science! Great job
Pride in your work is key and these young men surely have that. In construction you need to strive for perfection because it will never be attained. Experienced men know what I am talking about. Great job and excellent work.
Awesome job guys it turned out great. Keep up the good work and thanks for sharing with us.
Nice looking steps!
masters. love this.
That’s a really beautiful set of steps made from concrete and each step looks as though it’s individual slabs of poured concrete but it’s not it’s just one ☝️ pour and the finished look 👀 is absolutely amazing 🤩 and I would be extremely proud if that work was to be done at my property.
Keep up the excellent work guys and see you next time.
Where does one stand to walk up & open the door or walk out & close the door behind you ?? The landing at the top is too small , poor planning
Awesome job guys.
We have used hay bails before as a filler in steps.
Really nice looking set steps.
I would probably put more kickers but it work out good 👍🏽
Amen in regards to bracing
Steve, Hell of a job and the ATD was awesome, thanks
Thanks for watching!
The next generation very nice 👍👍
Looks great!👍🏻
Love the pattern. Thanks for the video.
Looks great!!!
Looks great! Are you not concerned about having no steel under all 5 tread/risers? I'd be worried about the first 3 treads/risers cracking being the thinner parts of the pour. Didn't see any fibremesh, maybe there was? Cheers from Canada!😁🇨🇦🔨
There was fiber in the mix. Thanks for watching! 👍🏻
really nice job
Nice work.
Nice looking steps and porch area! You guys are awesome to watch.
Nice job
The steps look 👍👍👍👍👍🤗
Looking good
You guys are really artist at what you do. You are more talented then a majority of the contractors in this business.
How heavy are the rollers? There has to be some weight to make the impression right?
I am interested too.
They are roughly 20 to 25 lbs. we can add weight to them if need be. Thanks for watching!
I take it, that u sprayed the color release on. Is there a such thing as liquid colored spray release? Or was it just bubble gum clear over colored concrete?
Correct colored release
@@Concretewiththehauses I hate to ask, but can you recommend a manufacturer, i can't find it locally. Thank you very much!!
Well done Steve and great great job on vid. Enjoyed it a lot. Be safe and be careful.
We use sand bags full of sand they work good and are cheap
You know it will work when Super Jim's there lol ☺️😹
Awesome job turned out really nice.....l learn something each time I watch
That pour turned out awesome. With a pour like that, how hard would it be to to make the face look like cinder blocks instead of stacked slabs?
I’ve actually never been about a cinder block look. There are different vertical stamps you can rent from places, but the homeowner chose that. thanks for watching!
Turned out great! Nice work..... nevertheless many braces!
I just had a similar set of steps poured. My contractor built the inner structure out of styrofoam and wood. It greatly reduced the amount of concrete and weight. Wish I could provide pictures that I took.
Great 👍job!
Looks awesome!!
Thanks! 👍
Beautiful work. You are truly a chip off of the old block!!!
Thank you! And thanks for watching!
If it’s getting new siding I would pulled the old siding before I set the forms. So you’d have flashing then concrete tight to the house.
Holy shit. I have found my doppelgänger. Im a mason also been finishing and doing concrete construction for 9 years now. And my wife thought i was you on video 😂😂
Mr Morgan sent me! I've poured many footings but have no experience with finished concrete. I enjoy your channel and think you're great at your craft.
Very nice! I can tell you the guy that has to replace this in the future is going to be pissed! That is one massive hunk of concrete.
Very good video Steve, well explained and demonstrated. Really impressed with the finished steps came out much better than expected, look forward to seeing the completed project
Wayyyyy Cool!!!!
Nice job Steve. All the planning that goes into the pour is very informative. Better to have more support than you need. Just in case.
Looks amazing for a really high set of steps
A pour this type would u not need a footing ? I would believe those rebars in the wall would not hold anything?
Good question! There was an existing footer there that was in good shape when I removed the old steps 👍🏻
Love the quality work!! Fellow concrete finisher from pa.
Hey guys, steps look great! I have a question on the mix you’re using; is it a 4000 psi with pea stone? Any additives? Thanks for sharing!
Yes sir, 4000 psi p stone with fiber mesh mixed in. Thanks for watching!
Thank you!
Great video from Australian 🇦🇺
Great job looking good.
Wouldn't you need a foundation to some degree to hold the weight ? If the ground sinks, the steps would be pulling on the side of the foundation no? Looks good. Also I think it would be a great idea to embed some square tub on the corners to accept a metal railing vs drilling in red heads later. Also it would give the option to easily replace the railing in the future as the bottom seem to rust out commonly.
There was an existing footer from the old steps that I used. It was still in good shape 👍🏻
Nice work! I just poured a huge set of steps myself!
Great looking set of steps. I have poured a few of those and after about half way full is when I start holding my breath. No matter how many of those you do it is always is in the back of your mind that it could blow out.
Wow I like to see front porch cement concrete
Very nice. How do you keep from slipping on it?
We use a product called “gator grip” in our sealer. It really helps with the traction
@@GunpowderandFreedom okay I was just wondering.
Nice side project!
How long for that to totally dry all the way thru?
About 28 days
Awesome job
Amazing looking, nice job!
Would’ve been very cool to see the pour instead of looking up from the ground, the pour is the best part, came out great 👍
Thank you for the suggestion! I’ll be sure to get some of the pour on the next one, thanks for watching!
That looks amazing Steve
What are the shingles in there for?
Bad steps , where do you stand to open the door or walk out & close the door ?
On the 4’x8’ area right outside of the door. Thanks for watching
Looks good.
Beautiful
Thanks
Ok I'll ask. Roughly, what's the cost of such an artistic and huge job like this? $4,000?
I think that’s pretty close
Where did you get those forms for the faces of the steps?
Put some foam inside the form spaces properly eliminates alot of wieght works like a champ
Regardless home owner replacing siding you should be professional and protect the current siding.
Apart from the said above nice steps.
We are 👍🏻 I made sure to wipe off all of the concrete and shield the sealer incase the siding doesn’t get replaced for a while. Thanks for watching!
Guessing that's a warm climate. I'd hate to shovel snow and ice of that.
Slendiferous!!!!
Jim is a excellent camera guy!😁
When the next hurricane hits, this stair will definitely stay there. Of course not the house.
When you pulled the face off the steps the words, "oh wow" came right out of my mouth. I'm curious as to what kind of railings he is going to put on this? Hey, now Jim can add camera man to his resume!!
Me too Robert!! I am hoping we see more of this transformation which includes the railing.
I believe the homeowner is doing a metal railing but I don’t think he has made a final decision. I’ll definitely get and overview video done when it’s all said and done 👍🏻 thanks for watching!
What happen to the Bottom Step ???
The sidewalk was going to be meeting up to it so I chip off the concrete that sticks out! We just uploaded the video of the patio and you’ll see the whole finished product 👍🏻 thanks for watching!
where is the final, jplease?

Hermoso trabajo el de la escalera, saludos desde Chile 🙏🙏🙏💪💪💯💯
The strongbacks would be stronger if they were facing the other way, 2x4s have the tendency to bow out like that.
Awesome! That looks like a bunch of stone slabs were stacked on top of each other! I'm so proud, I wish you were my kin!! 🤣
And if it gets snowy there these concrete steps become a place to be severely injured
I used a lot of traction control in the sealer so unless you’re sprinting, you should be fine. That’s providing the snow has been cleared.
Its different !! But wondering why you didnt put any block in the steps to reduce the weight,,,thats a lot of weight in one spot !!
That area was on top of the old footer so the weight there isn’t really an issue. Thanks for watching!
Why didn’t you just use the block to build the perimeter of the porch then fill center with stone .. then use form to build top..
Because I don’t do block work hahahaha but on a more serious note, the homeowner wanted the broken stone concrete look on the whole thing. 👍🏻 thanks for watching
Concrete Blocks, dude. Cinder blocks were from the dark ages.
nice looking stoop good job AAAA++++++
Put what you think you need. Then double it and you should be fine
I just about died laughing when he spun the wheel thinking he would spray it as I spun but it only spun once or twice it basically stopped before he even touched the sprayer
That is not a porch, that is a stoop. The area at the landing is too small to be considered a porch.
I remember when I knew nothing about concrete I made the mistake of trying to build a platform and steps and never realized how heavy the concrete weight was going to be and didn't use enough support and guess where all the concrete went...lol Great job and I'm sure it will last a long time.
