My Grandfather was a mason over in England and always used to say that "concrete was a lovely bit of stuff". He wrote a book on masonary that is still in use today.
I always try to get my door lips level, but the purpose of the door lip is if it doesn’t come out level your lip keeps the water from coming in. I never leave the edge mark in only because I think it looks nicer without the edge mark, I probably don’t broom it as wet as you do. I Have a 13” broom where I’m able to make one even pass with the broom and done. I don’t like brushing it like you did, but the homeowner won’t say anything about it they’ll just say it looks good. I also pull my lip board early, real early float it down (I would never say use your float as/like a plow) than I would use a step tool at the 1 1/2” lip...
As always, nice to watch professionals work. Knowing where to put cuts to prevent cracking, experience shines! It's really evident why you are in demand Tom, your work is your signature and you've a very nice signature! Loved this video!
Your team just does exceptional work! Tom, why does the finished surface need to be troweled twice? Does hand work give a smoother finish than a power trowel? And at what size do you use power equipment? Thanks, love watching your videos! 👏👍🇺🇸
Hey Tom , I'm curious what about brooming it ? In side walks it is a rule to broom them and I saw no brooms today . I think the extra traction wold be nice in winter after the snow drips off the car and freezes on the floor . I'm in minnesota and the floor freezing is a bit of a problem . Oh you got drains though .
I would like to ask all you concrete guy's a question. I have a house built in 1906 it's a fairly large house with a good size basement. When we have heavy rain I have water coming right up from a concrete floor not in just one place in several. God only knows when it was pored, Yes there are cracks in the floor but there are very small. If not attended to I could have an indoor swimming pool in my basement. lol, but it's really not funny. Can anyone give me some suggestions? I know it's going to have to be redone but the preparations are what I need to know about.
Snow country garage floor drains. Do you where they went? Did they go into the sanitary sewer or a storm drain? Do you know the code regulations for garage floor drains?
The placement on the steel was terrible, I don’t know how you guys get by with placing it that way? Did it not look bad to you? I’ve poured thousands of garages never has the steel looked that sloppy, and to go over it just 2 times by hand you have to walk away with some trowel marks showing? What do you guys charge to get ready and finish ? What do you get for labor and materials to get ready and pour? Like your videos though, that takes a lot of time and patience when you’ve got a lot to get done.
What is not to like, it is Concrete with the Hauses. what a good video I love it.
i truly love going over all your videos, cant wait for the next season
ABSOLUTE PERFECTION GUYS‼️ 👍 Vinny 🇺🇸

Can we still get the book?

Glad I came across your channel Tom. You & your crew do excellent work!
As usual Tom, you and your crew are very professional and it shows in the end results. The garage floor looks really good.

I have my guys put 2 ft pieces of rebar perpendicular to the corners close to the service and that prevents the cracking your talking about
About an inch and a half off the corner
I see it as ARTWORK!!!!
Looks great! Nice work.
Looking good!
Do you ever use walking edgers
Tom, if you could train a second crew of workers like you have now, you could expand expodentially on the amount of work you could do.
Wish you were in NW Florida. I could use a new sidewalk and drive. Nobody around here works like you and your crew.
It’s also easy when the mix is that wet
Three car garage concrete pour done right.

Do you hit it with a compact plate after graded 🏴👍
Tom, What determines whether you use a power trial or not?
Reason why you don't Viber plate the base for better compaction?
You guys are amazing. Ever think of starting a business? Lol.
Great prep work!👍🏽
I wonder why you guys don’t use power trowel?
Thanks for watching just not on something small
Curious why the plumber didnt center the floor drain in the single garage ??
Tom, what was the temperature on this pore, or do they use hot water for the concrete, saw some vapors raising from the concrete???
Great job, but personally I would not have the trip step by the opening.
Where are you from my man? Your accent sounds like Pittsburgh. Id know as ive lived here all my life lol

Hes not the plumber.
Everything inside the house goes to sanitary
I really enjoy your channel, but my knees always ache at the end of the videos.
No expansion felt in between the stem wall footings...
👍
👍👍👍👍👍👍

that rebar was moving all over the place. I'm not really sure why you don't tie it when you are so meticulous with every other aspect of the job.
Agreed. Laying on the stone is useless as well.
@@Bigmikkey55 They pull it up as the concrete is being poured, At 5:53 for example
@@terrythomas79040 years experience in heavy construction tells me otherwise
@@Bigmikkey55 So you didnt see him pull it upwards ? Has nothing to do with your experience.
You guys must have a chiropractor on speed dial!
Funny 4:00 SHOOT everything in there....or CHUTE everything. Maybe there is no difference.
Why put reber in when you don't space and tie it to spec? THEN BURY it all at the bottom of the pour. Shoddy work.
Rebar was definitely in the concrete and not on the ground …
We definitely picked up the rebar. Thanks for watching
