      @@chrisdaviesguitar could you gig in a club (think 400 ish people) with this with no worries? Never gonna sell out stadiums with my band and I'm really not a fan of using PAs as the champs for my amps (when you calculate a sound guy, your own PA systems cause you cant trust the venue, and mixers etc it's not worth it at all) so was seeing if this would work

    Just picked this head up w/ matching cab. For the price, it's an absolutely AMAZING setup. The tones, decay, attack, and even the dynamics (hitting strings soft vs heavy) are incredibly dialed in. It's like having $100K worth of Marshall amps in one box. Actually started taking this to gigs :) Highly recommend the optional Marshall PEDL-91009- the pedal that comes with it works fine, but the upgraded pedal lets you set banks of sounds, making it feel like Pete Cornish himself set up a MIDI pedal board for you.

    I set mine up for Jazz and Blues. I selected an American Clean (Fender) amp and cab, and tremolo and reverb and adjusted the EQ to taste and use minimal gain. results: 200 watt 212 cab with a Jazz amp character. The tremolo and reverb are good. The Fender clean is very good and the cab simulation is good. Overall I now have a UNIQUE Jazz/Blues combo amp.
    Most Jazz amps are SS and now digital is a newer version of SS. The computer chip inside is very sophisticated and Marshall worked wit a world renown company that specializes in digital modelling. I have a great Jazz amp. I also have the 50 watt 1x12 version. I'm blessed.
    Oh the Code 100 watt 212 has an 8 ohm speaker out jack on the back and also an effects loop.

    About time, I've been waiting for this demo , bought one of these just before Christmas. Fecking awesome amplifier. Use a hand held device (phone, tablet), and you can save your setting to the hand held, take it with you and connect to any other Code amp and use your settings. For the dude in the video, a DAW is a Digital Audio Workstation.
    What would be good would be to select a preset and compare it to the real thing.

      @tusharsaini5026 6 років тому +1

      Hey chris, how loud is it? Please tell me, I'm one step away from buying this amp. I just wondering if it would be loud enough for a live performance, example a talent show ( room size auditorium)

    • @chrisdaviesguitar
      @chrisdaviesguitar 6 років тому +1

      It's loud trust me. Plus you have an effects loop, can use booster pedals in front if you choose and have a speaker out option so you can plug it into a 4 x 12 if you want (but then I would suggest turning off the cab emulation if you did that, but hey, experimentation is the order of the day). I've seen people gigging with the 50 watt version with no issues. I really do love this amp. I do suggest you get the additional footswitch though. Check this demo out ua-cam.com/video/TisYc7HwP38/v-deo.html

    • @tusharsaini5026
      @tusharsaini5026 6 років тому +1

      Chris Davies do you need to buy booster pedals separately? Also Is the 100 watt one loud enough without the 4×12 cab or do.we need to buy it. Im sorry for disturbing u, i really want to win this for my fraternity.

    • @chrisdaviesguitar
      @chrisdaviesguitar 6 років тому +1

      It comes with on board effects such as distortion, overdrive and the ubiquitous Marshall Governor. The only reason I use external pedals as well is because I already had the pedals beforehand. The only way you will be happy is to go to your local music shop/store and test one out. I am very happy with my 100 watt Combo.

    I've got a code 100 combo and the only downside I've come across is when you've got it connected via bluetooth and your phone rings it comes through your amp. Apart from that, this amp is fantastic and VERY LOUD.

  • @eriknjoo
    @eriknjoo 2 роки тому +4

    I have just bought the Code 100, and I was really excited about it having read the description and watched the demo videos. The amp does sound amazing, but yesterday, on the first occasion that I actually tried the amp during band practice, I was shocked to discover that when I step on the provided (2-way) footswitch to change presets (like activate one with distortion or heavy delay) mid-song, the flow of the sound broke, there was a moment of silence before it switched to the next preset. I've been trying to research this on the Internet, but have only found 2 instances of it being addressed, no one talks about this in review videos or blogs. This baffles me - how is (mostly) everyone ok with this?
    This effectively makes it impossible to use the built-in effects of the amp, which is exactly what its main outstanding feature is. Why have a 100 presets when you can't switch mid-song? Are guitarists only supposed to use the Code family to select the main sound they want for a certain song, then keep using pedals for changes mid-song?
    I'm extremely disappointed, since the built-in effects were the main reason I went for this amp - I wanted to use this as both an amp and a multi-effect board to some extent. Is there any fix for this? A firmware update maybe, or does the separately-sold Code pedal make a difference?
    Seriously considering returning it at this point.

    • @TheKevinNewsom
      @TheKevinNewsom Рік тому

      Did you end up returning it?

    • @eriknjoo
      @eriknjoo Рік тому +3

      @@TheKevinNewsom No, I bought the Code 4-way footswitch which has a setting where you can use it as an effect switch, so rather than switching between two entirely separate presets, it turns assigned effects on and off instantly (so no delay as experienced in the preset mode). Not the exact thing I wanted but a workaround I can live with.

      Have fun, don't be afraid to tweak the settings. I recommend you download the free Gateway app onto a tablet (phone is a bit small, but functional). You can swap between the amp and the handheld device, so adjusting and tweaking on the hand held device to get your perfect sound is fun. Save it to your device and to can take you handheld to anywhere with a Code amp, connect, and your sound goes with you. Simples.

    I have the Code 100w Combo. It's a steal @ $300.. no joke. My last Marshall was a Vintage Modern 50w Combo (also 2x12") Back then I had a really nice 59 Les Paul Junior and they went so well together. So expressive, that P-90 in the Jr. would growl with the best but then roll back the guitar volume and the tone goes clean, like Fender clean lol.. then roll the volume back up on the guitar and you get that delicious creamy Marshall distortion.
    I've not played any other modeling amp or even a good pedal-board setup that gave me that same response that you get from a vintage Les Paul playing on a fat KT66 equipped Marshall. I was very impressed how good this amp recreates that via solid-state hardware and some serious software from Softube..
    I love many of the stock tones, they all need a slight tweaking but quite usable. The quality of the effects are as impressive as the endless options for pre amps-power amps- and even speaker cabinet options. My Code 100 combo has the option for external speaker which I believe the 25 and 50 watt versions lack.
    Physically, my Code 100 combo seems way lighter and smaller than my old Marshall Vintage Modern combo. I love the Marshall app on my iPad it's so much easier than anything else out there and it works great.

      I have both, they both have their strengths. the Marshal is a killer sounding amp, but lacks some features the Fender GT200 (the model I have )has, which is a stereo XLR speaker compensated output, and an expression pedal option in addition to the channels/preset pedal. I lke both of them equally well, Oh, the Marhall is mono and the Fender GT 200 is true stereo with two FX send/returns. Actually, if you know what you're doing the Fender will run with the Marshall, but the Marshall sounds better out of the box. It takes a while to learn the Fender, it has a ton of options, like choose able rectifier settings, sag settings, amp tone settings, which is where a lot of people mistake the Fender for being not as bright, it can be really present. It's a real wonder, but the Marshall just sounds like a mean bugger straight out of the box All this, IMHO of course. YMMV. Good luck.

      It captures the sound of the speakers without all of the added affects. if the room is echoy or not and other things in the room can change the sound if you have a room mic. Not sure this is 100% correct but it’s gotta be close lol

    • @NateThunder
      @NateThunder 6 років тому +1

      You mic the cab because thats where sound comes from. You dont mic a singers stomach to capture their voice. For a videos like this, a room mic would be terrible to capture the audio of this amp. The mic goes to a mixer or straight in to an external soundcard which captures the signal and processes it into digital code which would be captured by a DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) **recording software** on a computer. This audio file will later be synced with the video file in the editing stage.

    • @keithdarling8290
      @keithdarling8290 6 років тому +2

      Let me say before I begin, I'm sorry for the extremely long Reply!!!
      I hope this answer helps you out!!!
      1st of all, with the CODE Amp, the Effects on this Amp are BEFORE THE PRE AMP.
      Even if the Effects were AFTER the Pre Amp section, the Effects Loop is going to be BETWEEN the Pre Amp and the Power Amp WHICH MEANS THE EFFECTS LOOP IS GOING TO BE AFTER THE ON BOARD EFFECTS!!!
      What I suggest is that you run your Looper at the END of your chain.....JUST AS YOU ARE THINKING, in the Effects Loop!!!
      YOU ARE SMARTER THAN YOU ARE GIVING YOURSELF CREDIT FOR!!!!!
      As you probably already know, you want to run ANY GAIN BASED EFFECTS INLINE BETWEEN YOUR GUITAR AND AMP.
      In this order, Tuners, Wah Pedal, Compressor / Sustainers, Distortions and Overdrives along with an EQ....if you use any of these, then a Noise Gate at the END of your INLINE EFFECTS....between your Guitar and Amp.
      All other Effects....Modulations, such as Flangers, Phasers and Effects like a Univibe; ......unless it a Vibe like a Fulltone which would go between your Guitar and Amp; and Delays ALWAYS RUN THROUGH THE EFFECTS LOOP!!!
      The CODE has a Noise Gate built in to the Amp...you just have to search for it....use it if you're getting ANY unwanted Hiss or HUM from a Guitar with Single Coils, like a Strat.....the On Board Noise Gate works extremely well on the CODE Amp BTW and is EASY TO ADJUST once you find it!!!! You will, however, have to use a SECONDARY Noise Gate for your INLINE Effects if you're getting too much Hiss or Hum!!!
      A lot of people are going to hate me for suggesting this but JOYO......YES, JOYO makes a really good Noise Gate for around $20 used....maybe $40 New!!! I personally use one. I borrowed one, THEN BOUGHT IT from a friend after HATING the MXR, EHX and the Boss Noise gates....they were all TONE SUCKERS AND HARD TO DIAL IN!!!
      PLEASE, let me know how this works out for you!!!
      I'm in the process of buying the CODE 100 212 as my PRIMARY AMP!!!
      After checking 1 out at a local store, I was STUNNED how much this Amps sounds like a Tube Driven Marshall DSL OR Silver Jubilee..... depending on how you set it up......given it's not as thick as a normal Marshall or using Birch Wood in the Cabinet.
      I've yet to find out what type of Speaker they have put in these....they list Celestions for all of their other amps but don't say what's in the CODE Series......if you know, PLEASE LET ME KNOW!!!
      The CODE 100 is now going to become my PRIMARY AMP!!!
      The Silver Jubilee setting is unbelieveable!!
      I love this Amps Tones and Effects so much more than my Line 6 Flextone lll, which, in my opinion, WAS the greatest Modeling Amp in the World.....they no longer make them nor can you get REPLACEMENT PARTS for them anymore......STINKS!!!
      My PRIMARY Amp now is a Blackstar HT Stage 60 212, using the Line 6 Helix HX for my Effects on top of other Stomp Boxes I HAVE to have on board.
      Buying the CODE will be great because I won't have to carry around a 45 Pound Effects Board anymore not to mention a 60 Pound Amp!!!
      The Line 6 Flextone lll is my BACKUP AMP.
      Since the Foot Controller sometime goes on the FRITZ and should it go out, I'll have to search eBAY for ANY Replacement parts I may need. Especially for the FBV Shortboard Foot Controller.
      Only the ORIGINAL Line 6 FBV Controllers work with the Flextone lll meaning, I have to buy a USED one for PARTS.....TYPICALLY THE DISPLAY SCREEN GOES OUT ON THE FLOORBOARD!!! I can't believe Line 6 didn't make the Mark ll and lll compatible with the Flextone.
      The Amp, itself, has never given me a problem over the last 14 years of use!!!
      People who happen to own this Amp and Shortboard know the problems and the lack of parts so they are charging a FORTUNE for an used ORIGINAL Shortboard.
      Again, PLEASE LET ME KNOW HOW THIS WORKS FOR YOU and I hope this answers your question!!!
      And AGAIN, sorry for the LOOOONG REPLY!!
      Take care!!

    Okay if im to buy this amp, do i still need to buy pedals or a processor? Anyone?

    • @chrisdaviesguitar
      @chrisdaviesguitar 5 років тому

      Not sure what you mean by processor, but the amp has multiple effects available, distortion, reverb, delay, chorus, all you'll need. I have this particular model and love it to bits, I have had it since 2017, no complains from me. Oh yeah, I also have a 100 watt Blackstar valve amp, but that is so heavy to cart around.
      I suggest you download the free Gateway app, I also suggest you download onto a tablet rather than phone. Play around and browse the settings and you can see what available for free. There are 100 preset on the amp, and 100 on your handheld device. More than enough.
      People who dislike amp, do so because they are technophobes who can't cope with technology. But you do need to tweak some settings to find your own sound. That's where the haters come in, they're too stupid to work it out. I wholeheartedly recommend this amp.
      Forgot to add, there is also an effects loop should you wish to use it, plus a speaker out jack should you feel the need to use a 4 x 12.

I have a Code 100 Head and Code 212 Speaker cab which sounds good but my stereo Spider V 240HC running into a Marshall 1960A Lead 412 cab in stereo using the cabs two 8ohm inputs sounds great!
