Dublin-born singer and bouzouki player Daoirí Farrell’s first visit to Celtic Colours won’t soon be forgotten by anyone who saw him play. Luckily the tape was rolling when he performed this traditional Irish folk song during Craic’n Cabaret at Membertou Trade and Convention Centre on October 8, 2017.
Please never take this video down. It brings my soul to life.
For me, he represents the best combination of singing and accompaniment. A fantastic voice served by a high-class playing of the Irish bouzouki.
Amen to that. Agreed, wholeheartedly. Makes me want to buy an Irish Bouzuki and start learning how to play it (I'm a guitarist and pianist). Such a wonderful instrument, and so beautifully played by the artist.
A rising star, a classic Irish bouzouki and one of the finest Celtic festivals in the world. Put Celtic Colours on your Bucket list.
I think this lad has singlehandedly rewritten the definition of "Irish tenor." Magnificent performance!
The level and quality of musicianship on display here is rarely achieved. It really is superb.
And then you realize how long Daoirí has been performing at his level.... I have yet to get tired of hearing him sing this song....

This is the most stunning live version of this song that I've ever encountered. So powerful and so fluid. Brilliant, gifted musician. Breathtaking performance.
Sounds like some sort of panning delay (and possibly a hint of reverb..?) were used. They're barely there, but they subtly stand out and liven up the mix, in a very tasteful way. Also, every note was very clearly defined and nicely captured.
Very nice work by everyone involved, including Mr. Farrell (obviously) :-).
I don’t believe he missed a single note with either his voice or his bouzouki. Amazing.

Why do all the other folk singers sound so dull and drab, when Daoiri's vocals soar to the sky and are full of LIFE and colour. Stunning!
Daoirí’s brilliant. But I’m not sure who you’re listening to, to be thinking all the rest sound dull. How’s about Brad Tuck? Ye Vagabonds? The Mary Wallopers? Nathan Rogers? That’s if we’re talking modern-day. If we’re talking some lads who’ve come before, there’s plenty more to choose from. And the greatest of all, for me, would have to be Stan Rogers. Daoirí’s fantastic, but he’s certainly not the only one out there.

So mesmerizing and beautiful! I’m a fan of Daoiri Farrell!!
It took me only ten seconds to realize how tremendously talented this man is. His singing is exceptionally expressive. Provided he doesn’t crash and burn or get killed somehow, we can count on several decades of amazing music. Thank God he decided to quit his day job and instead sing for the world.

I've heard only the audio for a couple of months now and with this video I just realized he's doesn't have a band with him. He's that good.
So pleasing to the ears. When his voice soars with that fast vibrato it is something to behold. So talented to multi-task that well.
Unbelievably mesmerizing. The voice, the instrument, the suspended chords and scales. This deserves a symphonic orchestra, prices and recognition from Ireland music and arts ministry.

Of course a very good version but not the same level of the best as Andy Irvine does. Andy is the top folk singer all over the world.
