Visage @ Wave Gotik Treffen Festival, in Germany 2005. The band is Steve Strange, plus Steven Young, Sandrine Gouriou and Rosie Harris of Seize, and Ross Tregenza of Jetstream Lovers

I was 15 when this song came out and now 56 and still listening to it every day. Steve was great and love the way he was dancing. Soon my best friend and i are planning a trip to visite Steve's graveside. We still miss you in Belgium. RIP Steve you are now a star in heaven.
I saw Steve / Visage play 'The Pink Toothbrush' in Essex years ago after the height of his fame in the 90s.It was all mimed but it was a faultless performance .R.I.P Steve.Reg Plasma .
Wow, thanks! I had heard that Steve was making music again. I took a chance and bought the 1st Visage lp way back in 1980 cause i liked the cover art, and my intuition told me it was probably a decent lp... As soon as i got home and put it on i knew i was correct a thousand times over! It gets my vote for favorite hit of the 80s, 1980 was an amazing year for music, and Fade to Grey was the tops in my opinion! I still listen to this song and never get tired of it.
So cool to see they're still out there. This is what started me into music in the first place. After listening to "Fade to Grey" the rest of my life I searched for something that did the same thing to me - without much sucess---
...show a year or two later in a smaller venue of that festival with only him singing and playing acoustic guitar and he did a near-perfect version of Fade to Grey that night.
You forgot Chris Payne who had a major part in the song, the original version being written betweeen Chris and Billy on Gary Numans Pleasure Principle tour in 1979
Sorta know what you mean dude, I went to see Kraftwerk a couple of years ago & four guys turned up dressed in black using laptops as instruments. They had a big screen in the background showing all their old videos from back in the day. It was like being at a corporate meeting with some boring marketing guy doing a powerpoint presentation. The frickin tickets cost a fortune & it was the most sterile, sleep inducing gig I was ever at, sorry Kraftwork-ee's.
now Stephen Clarke from Loughborough as now got hs favourite gay partner garry whiting from Leicester as his very proper gay partner forever together who loves all visage and steve strange with you and I together and same music and proper stuff together properly and he as got great taste of music too
Sadly, Steve Strange is the product an 80's drug induced nightmare. Look at him. Lip sync without a doubt. He can't string two words together without slurring, if you see him interviewed. Sadly, as I'm a massive Visage fan.
I was in attendance that night and this audio is definitely not what could be heard over the PA. This here is definitely a studio version in synch with the video. During the concert you could hear that it was live (probably + some backing tracks but, well, that's what everybody does). Steve, however, was singing awfully, so I can see why the original audio isn't published here. Don't get me wrong, I'm a fan of this music, so I was pumped to see them, but it was in fact a big letdown. Steve...
...didn't hit a single note in tune you could tell from his speaking that he was clearly drunk or drugged or both. This show had a "midnight special" slot in the biggest venue of the festival, so they were one of the headliners, but the crowded arena turned half empty after a couple of songs and there were even some boos, which is very rare for this festival even for mediocre performances. The Human League btw headlined the next day and did a perfect show as did Midge Ure who was doing a solo...
I was at this show. It was in Leipzig at the WGT aboout 3 years ago....let me tell you...this is dubbed!!! That show was all about the "new sound" meaning Rock not synth. It was horrible.
No he did sing live, we all played live, to a backing track with the extra synths and drums. This video that the venue did has the rehearsal / studio version dubbed at about 70% volume over the top. I wish we had a version without that, but this is the only one that went out. Watch our performance at sinners day instead - that's a better capture of a true live performance.
+Ross Tregenza I'm not doubting that you played live but Steve is not singing those two verses live, and the girl talking French is from the original recording too. I know my visage.
@@tregenza77 wow you played with Monsieur Strange.....how intriguingly Kool...he was my fave in a school that only enjoyed Aerosmith and the likes....I went to school mimicking his makeup....lol....I thought I looked as beautiful as he was.......love him.....sad he's gone....but fortunate you...😎

hate the part he added at the end speaking
Steve did not sing it's playback surely too drunk to make the show
It's a jockeyed blend of live and prerecorded like most of your favourite artists. Thanks for coming by to insult my dead friend.
one of my fav albums ever...bit this is just utter crap!
Lip sync, I'd have walked out, that's so insulting.

+TheGodParticle I don't really need to argue about this, I mean, that's me right there playing guitar, I know what actually happened :)
+Ross Tregenza fair enough, I do envy you on stage with the legendary Steve strange, sadly missed. Cheers ross.
