The irony of Thrashin' Jackson calling you a "gay liberal" while wearing a Judas Priest patch on his vest.
Does he know?
Probably not. That just makes it even better
Nah. He’s drank too much beer to realise
I like the obligatory interruption of someone yelling SLAYER!!!
SSSLLLAAAYYYEEERRR
Another drinking game incoming! LET’S GOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It dropped today.
I have a sneaking suspicion that a fanboy drinking episode is prolly gonna be on the horizon possibly
nobody likes kerry king bro.
Haha. Great comment.
People love slayer but this isn't Slayer so they haven't had time to get a bunch of fanboys, and not all Slayer fans will be into this
@@mabooooyleatherface.1044Kerry is the single greatest guitar player of all time and an American hero and living legend. FUCKING SLAYER
Kerry might be the archetypal metal meat head but I am enjoying his album
Congratulations to Kerry King's From Hell I Rise thrash metal album.
Can’t wait for the comments
So far I’ve only seen one triggered fanboy. Somewhat surprising to say the least.
I am not triggered by someone not liking something that I enjoy. This is coming from someone who is a die hard Slayer fanatic.
You mean to tell me that a solo album from the least talented member of a band that hasn’t made anything noteworthy in over 30 years is bad? Noooooooooo wayyyyyyyyyy
Exactly! All of this sounds like outakes, rejected Kerry King demos, and fragmented leftovers of quickly-discarded material from deep within Slayer's vault. Without his more talented bandmates to carry him Kerry should ahve been practicing or working on his craft. Instead, it appears he merely waxed his head every night and went out for more pizzas and burgers.
Don't like Christ Illusion?
Hey now, Christ Illusion was pretty damn good. And KK did right some great riffs during his tenure with Slayer.
@@JustAnotherHeavyMetalManiacI hope this comment is satire...
@@dehumanizedanomaly3413 It’s not. I genuinely think Christ Illusion, Divine Intervention and God Hates Us All are good albums. Didn’t realize this was a controversial statement.
This comment section is surprisingly tame.
I think more Slayer haters than Slayer fans showed up ool
There's still some really hilarious takes though lol
You should do more characters like this in future videos for different bands. It’ll be hilarious 😂
Thrashin Jackson is badass, him and Jerry Mander should party together
They cant, Jerry Mander is dead.
Well that escalated quickly 💀
@@themetalmeltdownofficial Dude is like herpes, he always finds a way to come back
@MadMike1 I dunno, Chompy kinda fucked him up. Bro aint comin back unless you know a dude who can sew body parts together... and also, necromancy. Essentially, serial killer Doctor Strange lmao.
The comment about the relative merits of King and Hanneman as songwriters doesn't quite stand up. Whilst Hanneman did write more of Slayer's err... 'hits', he also wrote most of Diabolus in Musica, which is a truly terrible album, whereas King wrote most of Divine Intervention, which is an absolute masterpiece and hugely underrated.
The irony of this argument is that I genuinely prefer "Diabolus In Musica" over "Divine Intervention" lmao
I agree, if it was up to Jeff towards the end it would have went in a more groove and nu metal direction. Some prefer that I know, but personally I'm glad Kerry fought to keep the speed and aggression.
Divine Intervention is absolutely underrated. Diabolus is ok at best
Slayer is not for everyone. This guy is entitled to his opinion.
Thrashin’ Jaxon…
We need your own multiverse of characters, this is cool
Also the album I thought was like a 5/10
Keep up the great work
Props for the M.O.D. Cameo!
Ever noticed Kerry King and Chris Barnes have never stood in the same room together?
this is my new favourite conspiracy theory
That's just too much pussy for one room...
Too much pussy for one room...
That's just too much 🐱 for one room.
Lol what an insane funny comment. Lol. Like in really lol.
Oh god is Thrashin' Jack a new character in the Meltdownverse?
The TMMCU continues to expand
He eats salad with Jerry Mander twice a week.
@@MadMike1only twice?? And where's the beer?
We need a video with Thrashin Jackson and Gerry Mander together. Imagine them talking about/reacting to metalcore and deathcore 😂😅
I vividly remember what it was like being a 14 year old metalhead on UA-cam in 2009 with those REAL METAL VS. POSER METAL videos and I'll never forget this one clown by the name of FUCKPOSERMETALHEADS666 who had a whole channel dedicated to metal elitism. He had a giant list of bands, (Pantera was even on that list for no other reason than they started out as a glam band) and he said at the bottom and quote "If you like any of these bands, you do not support metal. No ifs ands or buts." I can't tell you how refreshing it is that that mindset died out.
It didn't. You're still a fucking poser.
It didn't. You're still a poser.
Pantera sucks ass tho
Why do fanboys turn into 13 year olds when someone has criticism for their favorite metal bands or albums also SLAYERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!
The 2 singles are pretty rockin’
Looking forward to the full album tomorrow 🤟🏼 long live The KING ♥️
More power to ya bud, I hope for your sake you enjoy it more than me.
Guess what Slayer are going to have a reunion because Kerry King knows his solo project ain't selling! 🤣
Kerry continues to insist his solo project is here to stay and a full blown Slayer reunion isn't happening, but... we'll see lmao
The reunion is only for northern California dummy
Oh no… anyway
Also if you see this during your drinking game, drink some water. Gotta balance out your stomach contents.
I don't always agree with everything you say here BUT I definitely respect the hell out of it and the fact you make it so damned entertaining. Dig your channel man, keep the vids and (your) opinions coming \m/
We need a Thrashin’ Jackson and Gerry Mander collab. It’s a match made in ‘Murica
One is dead
A friend of mine put it very succinctly : This album is like watching a fire roaring in a fireplace... from a admittedly large TV screen... as opposed to actually sitting in front of a REAL raging fireplace !
“Mom, can we have Slayer?”
“We have Slayer at home”
Slayer at home…
Thrashin Jackson is like the stereotype of every thrash metal fan ever!😅 Love the review! I will be listening to the album more for the guy from Death Angel’s vocals than anything Kerry King is doing guitar riff-wise.
And Bostaph of course.
I personally like the album but kudos to you for you acting! It was hilarious!😂😂
This video is more exciting than the album was! 🤘🏻
I said it before and I'll say it AGAIN when people say you should keep politics out of music YET THEY BRING POLITICS INTO A REVIEW FROM A NON POLITICALLY CHARGED SUPERGROUP also I am going to skip this album and listen to better music also SLAYYYYYYERRRRRRR
First and foremost, just as everyone has said, Thrashin’ Jackson has to be a new Metal Meltdown character / surrogate for gatekeeping “real” metalheads, but secondly, I’m torn when it comes to albums like these. I love artistic growth, and a lot of my favorite bands and artists have shifted over time, but at the same time, sometimes I want some straightforward style riffs and solos that may be nothing to write home about, just as long as it’s performed well and still exciting. This may not fall into that camp, but based on the couple songs that have come out, I’m a sucker for 80s-styled thrash, so this could be fun. I’m still disappointed to hear that Kerry doesn’t want to try anythjng new or unique, though, but he is 60, so it’s not shocking.
I’d be so disappointed if Kerry tried some weird or different shit with this album. I really just wanted “another slayer album.” Dead serious. If I don’t want Slayer I won’t listen to Kerry King. I truly don’t understand some of the criticisms I see.
Metal Meltdown is reaching a new peak with these skits. Keep it up!! ❤🎉
This album would have been fine in 1994…an absolute massacre to the grunge world. To be blunt, and this says its all. I’m a genuine metal head. First concert was Mercyful Fate 95. I’d rather wait another 17 years for new King Diamond than listen to Kerry Kings effort all the way through. Nice review!
Honestly, I'm not surprised by this. After listening to the two singles that King dropped, I wasn't the least bit impressed, and have no intention of picking this up. C'est la vie 🤷♂️
I actually really like The Slayer album “repentless” I like the Drop B tuning they use on some of the songs but I couldn’t care about Kerry Kings solo stuff so I won’t even bother listening to it, the title “from hell I rise” is corny af😂
This is one best albums to come out this year. I have already listened to 4 or 5xs. What it comes down to if you are a Slayer fan you will like it. I like every Slayer album.
True. I’d be pissed if it were all experimental or kept trying new things. It’s exactly what a fan would want or expect from its source
i’m a bigger-than-average fan of slayer and i thought it was boring
I agree, love this album. One of my favorites of the year
This whole album is STOCK! I'm glad Slayer called it quits so they didn't have to put this music out.
If you see this double shots if some Slayer fan calls you an elitist or poser, if that's okay.
Also the new Slash album is out tomorrow too.
Should be cool. His solo albums have consistently been solid, and its neat to see him do a blues album with a bunch of special guests.
@@themetalmeltdownofficial I will definitely look into it this weekend.
I managed to get autographed copies of both
@@themetalmeltdownofficial First Slash's Snakepit album It's Five O'Clock Somewhere kicks ass. Love the album cover as well.
I like to think of a bizarro world timeline where Zakk Wylde accepted the offer to join G n' R in the mid 90s and Zakk and Slash went on to form one of the goat guitar duos and G n' R released a bunch of great albums. Yeah I know it's fun to play fantasy.
Intro was awesome and factual lol
The newest Suicidal Angels was the greatest Slayer album of 2024 and the best Slayer album since Seasons.
Suicidal Angels is a very good band
I know these are all just opinions but the new Suicidal Angels album isn't even the best Suicidal Angels album, let alone best Slayer album.
Felt uninspired. Now their album Bloodbath, that's a ripper.
Did I forget to mention that the album cover is Ai art but lazily used
"Thrashin Jackson"! LOL I love it!
Yeah the album is okay, not great, but it's fine. It's amazing that Mark can seem to pull off a reasonable facsimile of Tom Arraya, especially on the title track and final song of the album. I'd give it a 2.5, maybe a solid 3. I do like some of the songs, but the entre thing does feel bloated just to be bloated.
Kyle Sanders is actually a super solid bassist. I love his work in Medication. Idle Hands was probably my favorite track off this album
It's my favorite album of the year, so far
Kerry King? You mean metal's most infamous music snob made the most predictable boring metal album of the year?? Who could have guessed!
Mike from become the knight needs to talk considering he calls himself the music snob 😅
@Jeff.3 And yet he's still no where near the snob Kerry King is.
@Jun3bugg64 Chris Barnes....BARF
Why does Thrashin’ Jackson sound like, well… Jackson from Hannah Montana 😂😂
Kerry King looks like a thumb.
he IS a thumb
It's a 6/10 for me. I heard the singles, read what Kerry said about the album, and set my expectations. I knew I wasn't going to be blown away, but I enjoyed it. It's a fast food thrash album
I love Slaaaayeeeerrr, I grew up with them, but you're so right about all you've said, man. Cheers! 🍻
Thrashin’ Jackson is who I want to be, but I’m too old now and don’t want to be cancelled.
Kerry has always been my least favorite part of Slayer from his playing to his ego, none of it really jives with me. All this means is that touring on this project will lessen the likelihood of a new Death Angel album any time soon.
If Kerry kings name wasn’t on this you wouldn’t be giving it such a bad review. It’s not your thing, that’s cool, but this is a good album
Yes I would. Ironically though I don't think anybody would care about this album or what I have to say about it if it wasn't for the Kerry King name.
Kerry's birthday isn't till June 3!
Also, WHO LET CAL FROM ANTHONY FANTANO IN THERE?
I just wish Thrashin' Jackson would have made fun of your Zeppelin shirt
Damn I didn't even think of that lmao
I had a feeling you wouldn't like it but not everyone will. Shrapnel is the only song that's close to being boring in my opinion. Nothing groundbreaking but it's a solid record. Your Thrashin Jaxon character is hilarious. Stereotypical but hilarious. Lol
Well... He got some excellent members. He could have used their talents and skills to create something different and more dynamic rather than rehashed modern Slayer stuff.
This album is just okay. Not a bad one, just don't expect it to be great. 5.5/10.
This Debut Of Kerry King's Solo Band Is Pure Heavy Thrashing Fun And A Great Chemical combination Of Slayer And Death Angel That Unleashes all But In Your Face Metal and yes its Very Facemelting Indeed 🤘🔥🔥🤘 And For me the Biggest Song Highlight is Definetly "Two Fists" with its catchy and groovy Main Guitar Riffs bro
Excellent review! I agree 100% with your assessment
Thrashen JAckson kill me!! lmafo!! great video as always!
Me sitting here not knowing who Kerry King is while i listen to Creed while in my Thy Art is Murder hat :)
I can already feel thrash fans seething with anger because of this comment lmao
I mean i'm not even Slayer fan, but you gotta be under 15 yo kid lol
@MegaAndyGG why? Lol. Sorry I can enjoy what I like without being a weird gate keeping elitist about it.
@@worldpower78432I think they said that because Slayer is a very well known and famous metal band
Jared Dines is this you?
You’re the only music reviewer that successfully cracks me up in your videos, love the content. The pace could be a bit higher though
This cap is incredible !!
I......agree with the review.
( i'm listening Slayer for about 35 years )
How’d you make a review more interesting than its source material? Bravo.
Pretty awesome album. Dude just doesn’t like slayer style thrash or what? It’s exactly what one should expect and has a consistent tone and feel. Pretty pleased with the new album for sure. I’m not sure what the complaints would be aside from being contrarian or just not your taste.
It definitely feels like a much better version of Repentless
it was just bland. i could literally snuff out where each song was gonna go and the few times i was incorrect i was expecting the song to get *better*. you can do inventive things with slayer style thrash (exhibit A: slayer themselves) and this album did not.
Mate, ever heard of songwriting? Compare the songwriting of the best slayer records, and compare them to this record. You’ll notice something
Just wanna say.... I loved this intro and was dying over it
I don't understand constant comparison of Repentless to From Hell I Rise, besides the fact that most of these songs were written 10 years ago. The first one was a pretty good ending for the band, but I really couldn't care less for the other. Especially with that cover.
Kerry wrote both albums and both are lame as hell for the same reasons. Kerry King himself has also compared this album to Repentless, saying that its a continuation of that album.
Your split personality sketch here is perfect! This is how this whole album and what Kerry King is doing is doing to my head... I'm truly schizo about this album. A part of me LOVES it! A part of me is SCREAMING for variation and some semblance of ingenuity. The line-up is freaking perfect! Mark rips on vocals! The riffs and solos are INSANE! However where is the Postmortem going into Raining Blood? Where is the Altar of Sacrifice going into Jesus Saves? Where are these moments? I've never been a fan of modern Slayer, just like I've never been a fan of modern (since 1989 is modern? lol!) AC/DC, either. Where is the insane new ingenuity that while still heavy, blows your mind? It rips it roars, but if you've heard it a thousand times where is the bite?
We definitely need another drinking game on this one, bro! Perfect excuse to get blasted in my opinion!
Real acting chops in this one! Kudos!
Kerry King should take as examples bands like Iron Maiden and Rush...... bands that aren't afraid to expand their sounds and evolving as musicians....... instead of imitating bands like AC/DC and Judas Priest who have done the same albums for 40 years, always playing it safe....... KK's album is comparable to the worst Slayer albums.....👎
Wish maiden stopped evolving lol
I’ve been listening to Slayer from the beginning. Yeah, I’m old as fuck. Kerry has always been a simpleton and somewhat of a douche. Their early albums were fucking killer back in the day. And I still like them to this day. But Kerry needs to do something fresh, not re-hashed second rate Slayer-ish metal. Especially with the talent he has in this lineup. It’s not horrible. But if I were gonna listen to this style of thrash, I’d just prefer to listen to Haunting The Chapel or Hell Awaits. Kerry needs to bring something new to the table. It’s 2024. I’m an old school metal head, but I listen to a lot of contemporary shit too. My son and I just saw Periphery and Lorna Shore. Just glad there’s a younger generation keeping music heavy. I’m not saying Kerry needs to play metal core or play an 8 string dropped to the depths of hell. But with all the experience he has under his belt, he could deliver something fresh. Hell, he could even stick with the “Satanic” image. But deliver something different instead of trying to be a half-cocked continuation of Slayer.
Agreed on all points but the most impressive part of the video is The Unibroue in the background...
Repentless is actually one of my favorite Slayer albums for whatever reason, so Repentless 2.0 sounds like something I might be interested in checking out. Oh wait sorry, I meant to say poser elitist liberal snowflake nerd. There, my comment is fixed
Ayyyyyyyy so Thrashin Jackson I Have a few Questions for you. Do you know who Jerry Mander is? If so are you two friends? And do you think King Diamond should headline every tour on Earth?
every song on this album feels like the transition into the good part is getting edged. then you slowly realize that you’re getting full on climax denial’d
This is surprisingly good. This album sounds like Modern, 21st Century Slayer. Similar but NOT identical. This is Thrash/Speed Metal mixed with hard core Punk. This is miles above a lot of the Metal that's around today. In my humble opinion, it's better than Metallica's recent album. It's also better than the latest Overkill and Obituary albums. Kerry King really outdid himself and should be proud of this album. This album is contender for Metal album of the year...
Album of the year?! Maybe album of the year to nap too
I think I've seen you comment this exact thing on another video. I'll say the same thing as I did on the other video...
Obituary is OSDM so comparing this album to Dying of Everything isn't justified. Different genre's.
Here s the thing. We love it !
I like this thrashin' Jackson fella.😅
Felt like I heard the same song 13 times in a row. Sounded exactly like every other Slayer album in the last 20 years
Lol! Do more characters and let them do their own reviews out of 5. Like Thrashin' Jackson here would give a 5/5 review. 😂
I thought this album was way better than repentless. I enjoyed it a lot. Is it the greatest album ever? No but i enjoy it.
You know I got the same perception about Mr. King's 'new stuff' so I went out to checkout some other interesting stuff out there.
Thrashin Jackson 😄
These videos just get better & better 🔥
Yeah I’ve been looking forward to hearing the new Slayer record too 😏
Im sure it’s more listenable than what Metallica is putting out. I listen to it, Die Hard Slayer fans should like it. Mission accomplished.
Tbh I'll happily pick '72 Seasons' over this 🤷
@@themetalmeltdownofficialSame.
How is everyone listening to the new album already?
I can't speak for others, but I got a copy slightly over a week ago
Apparently, all(or most) of the tracks are posted on UA-cam now. I will give it a fair shake on the car system when it officially arrives. It is only this one respected reviewer, non-paying customers and Uncle Melty bag lickers crapping on it in advance. Entertaining(and not surprising) review, nonetheless!
I agree that the best Slayer stuff was Jeff's. But you mentioned that worst Slayer albums were penned by King and just wanted to mention that Diabolus in Musica was largely Jeff's. I like most of that album but consensus seems to be it's not that great.
Yeah people hype up Jeff but the thing is if it was up to Jeff, most of their post-1994 albums would have sounded like Diabolous. Jeff loved the Deftones and groove metal, it was Kerry that wanted to keep the speed and aggression.
But the more important question is this: is it worse than the new Six Feet Under album?
No. Not in my opinion at least. Way more intense and better made.
Thrashin Jackson starring Yarl Weathers. Silly goose. Came for the review, stayed for the review, hate the record, love the review.
Very on Point review, couldn't agree more.
Mark's an insane vocalist, I hope this band won't get in the way of Death Angel.
Would be fun to see Thrashing Jackson again though!
Mark was hands down the best thing about this album, dude sounds vicious.
i will skip this album and listen to the new testament anthrax and exodus albums when they come out
Smart choice! Can’t wait for those 3 to release new albums!
@@DylanTheCDAndVinylCollector also forgot overkill might have a new album next year
@@Lebronfan37876 We’ll see
Are they? That’d be sick
New Anthrax album would be great. For All Kings came out in 2016. Time flies. I really liked Testament's last album Titans Of Creation. Chuck's voice has aged like a fine wine. I heard Canadian thrashers Sacrifice are working on a new album. Would be awesome if it came out this year. I love their last album The Ones I Condemn.
I sense a drinking game coming (which I love)! Throw this in there... how many K's can you count on that cover...? At least 3. Hence the typical fans. lol Oh shit I might have to join you for that drinking game ha ha ha!
Brave,but kinda true...
Lmao great video. Thrashin' Jackson is a new persona...? First time I see him but I wouldn't mind him making some more appearances lol. I was never really a Slayer fan so I think I'll pass on this album after I listen to it once. Thank God for music streaming services so that I don't actually have to feel disappointed after dropping 20 bucks on an album.
Hahahaha loved Thrashin' Jackson, haven't heard the album yet but not expecting much since it's Kerry (Even if I liked the first single).
Thrashin’ Jackson and Cal Chuchesta should make out.
🥵🥵🥵
The Album Is Great! Kerry Rules!
Well, the drumming is pretty damn good!
It was alright. I knew what I was getting from it
Some songs like Diablo / Where I Reign were pretty sick but yeah some parts were a bit lacking
The vocals are the best part for sure.
