Don't worry about people asking for more regular content. The reason people watch is because of the effort you put in. That would drop if you were releasing content none stop.
DO NOT worry about long intervals between releasing content. Your content is the best on UA-cam (for landscape photography) and the quality is better than quantity! Your videos inspire me to get out and thats hard to find. Making money from youtube is fine too! As long as you know the line and don't go over it! Just keep doing what you're doing! Ignore the trolls, and never stop filming/uploading your adventures!
Don't be afraid of adding adverts or monetising your videos. Anyone who would complain about this has no idea how lucky they are to be getting videos like this for free. Keep up the great work!
Don't be so scared of making money from your amazing videos Thom. I don't think anyone believes you are a "sellout" or whatever ridiculous term people come up with. Money is a good thing and you need it to keep making more high quality content.
I appreciate your comment. I worry about crossing the line between motivation brought on by passion and motivation brought on by money. Balance is key, I suppose.
I hate to go all Gary V on you, but if you passionately care about the consumer. If you give them 51% of the value (or more) during a transaction, then you don't need to worry about that line. If you try to do more for us than yourself you will absolutely stay successful. So far you are doing an excellent job. Don't be afraid to monetize some of it. We would all be at a loss if you had to stop making these videos because you couldn't afford the time commitment. Heck, if you make money from it you might be able to put out more!
+Thomas Heaton as long as you are honest and up front, we are good with it. Which so far you've been. e.g Canon lending you some equipment. Keep these coming at a pace that you can support. Love your passion.
As I see it you create an amazing value for the viewers with these videos. You should have no "guilt" or whatever in getting some compensation from what you produce. Watching a short ad is really nothing compared to what we get from your videos.
Thanks for this video. The energy you put in your videos is so tremendous that your viewers can not even think that you will make video just for advertisement. Every video is a virtual journey for us and I personally think that all your viewers are in sync with you so you dont have to worry about what we will think because we can see effort and excitement in your work. Best advertisement is word of mouth and we always do that for you.
It's very exciting for an old man to watch your progress as an artist, teacher, communicator, and business person. And it's instructive. I hope you're having fun.
Brilliant video Thomas. You said it was not a tutorial. It was consistent with your easy style and I'm sure most people learnt a lot. As a born again enthusiast myself I find this very helpful. Thank you.
Thank you for sharing your adventure with us. I sat down last night with alpine exposures and today come across this. Now all I need to do is tell my wife when will be back . Cheers. brilliant motivation to get out there
Thanks for not leaving us hanging for 5 weeks for this video. Much appreciated. It was nice to see your simple use of Lightroom and Photoshop to reach a good final image rather than many and varied photoshop layers.
Hey Thomas I have to say out of all the youtube channels I've subscribed to I do look forward to watching these updates. As for funding the trips get it which ever way you can mate. looking forward to the next instalment.
Thanks for putting out post-processing videos like this one, Thomas. It didn't drag at all so don't worry about that. Stuff like this is super valuable for people like me who need all the help they can get with the processing side of photography.

It's really interesting to see other people working. Thanks a lot for your effort in these videos. Every time I see them, I just want to go out and shoot my camera.
I've been a hobbyist photographer for around three years now and have rough patches of lack of inspiration. I watch your vids and they just make me want to go out and shoot. keep up the good work :)
It's incredible how much of details there is with this camera & lens. I really like your way of post-processing - not much of fireworks and natural look, so we feel as if we're looking out of the window to the real view. Thank you.
Wow, the beastly amount of MP you get from that 5DSR panorama really gives you a lot of editing breathing room. Love how you tackled it. Another awesome video.
Well, I came here expecting to see awesome post processing, ready to learn some photoshop magic maybe but no, just very basic processing. That means you got it right in camera... what a concept huh! 👍 Brilliant!
I know. I have never been much of a computer man. I get itchy feet. The time spent creating luminosity masks could be spent capturing more images in the outdoors. Thanks for your comment.
Yes, agreed. I love photoshopping but I found out that getting it right in camera gives me more "material" to work with in post, should I choose to. Cheers Mate.
Hey dude, thanks for that ! it was verry helpful ! you should take a trip to over hear in new Zealand... we have some amazing mountings and landscapes !
THANKS A LOT THOMAS!! Really appreciate that you mention what i've asked you in previous video of yours on how to get on selling! Thanks a lot sir. Respect!!
Really great to see how you do some of your processing, feel free to release more of these and post-processing (can be) half the battle in getting a great shot!
Thomas thank you so much. I found watching you work so enjoyable, and such a confidence boost, as I feel my friends go so far with their editing and my images always look too 'Real'. I now feel I'm going back to what I used to do which is like you edit and be real to myself and my images.
Great work! Looking forward to the Iceland and the printing Video's. Keep up the good work! You have inspired me to start going hiking and taking photos rather than keeping to the same old stuff everybody takes. Thanks!!!
Love the photography i have totally become inspired getting up at 4.00am for sunrise and getting home late after Sunsets, but a big thing ive learnt is it dosent always matter if you dont get the shot I’ve enjoyed the experiance of watching the events unfold, luckily Mrs Jones is also keen on doing this :) We have booked a week in Lakedistrict in July just for photos, walks and pubs, currently planning Iceland for next year, so looking forward to any vids on this, as always love your bit on processing again simple but effective changesto your shots.
Try to go there in the second half of june ... and walk around the Mont Blanc... taking pictures!! The 5 DS goes well with the Zeiss, certainly on a tripod!
I like your minimalist approach! I've seen other youtubers exaggerate post processing a lot. Its fine, but it does give me a little bit of "peer pressure". I end up sliding saturation and other things a little too much, fearing that people won't like it otherwise. I'm slowly building confidence to stop that, and your video helped.
Another great video Thomas, always look forward to them as the content is very good and inspiring, keep up the great work, have a great trip to Iceland, definitely on my 'bucket' list!
Thank you for sharing your processing techniques with us. I've used photoshop exclusively for years. I see now that LR has come a long way since I tried it 6 years ago. I like your minimalist approach. Always great videos from you Thomas. I hope you're having a blast in Iceland.
Great resolution on does photos is amazing how much you can crop and zoom to get some better details of things and it still looks very sharp ! by the way loved the black and white pano hope to see it print soon of your wall !!! I think is gonna look great.
Hi Thomas, I love your videos they are (as I've said before) an inspiration to get out there. your editing videos although as you say not tutorials they are great to watch. ignore people who bitch about what videos your doing etc. If anything an extra episode in the latest trip is brilliant. keep up the great work...
Yet another amazing video from you Thomas. Thanks for bringing some insight into your processing. It has helped me grow in regards to my photography :-)
Great video! I have been loving your content! I have been getting into aerial panoramas lately taken with my drone. Not quite a 5dsr, but the photos are quite nice. Can't wait to see more videos.
Thank you so much for this video. And as many already said, don't feel rushed, of course everyone of us is eager to see a new video from you but its like with any good things, they need to stay special to be appreciated correctly. So take your time, no one will unsubscribe just because you take a few weeks to make a great video. On the other hand, it was a good decision to make this video now, its a beautiful set of 3 vids! Looking forward to the Iceland Vlog :)
Either in effects tab to apply it to the whole image or as a slider in the graduated filter tool. Usually a soft grad dehaze filter will work wonders on the sky by bringing out details; if an area of the grad doesn't need so much of the effect applied because it's closer you can use the -ve brush applied to the grad to even it out.
Just fantastic as ever, I echo a lot of what has been said already, quality over quantity any day. I also never quite understand what people are looking for when they give a thumbs down...bewildering to say the least. Easily my most anticipated you tube uploads and would sooner wait than see diminishing quality, which won't happen I know. Enjoy Iceland!
I just recently discovered your channel but I love it! I love your way of shooting (although it's so different from mine, I always come home with way to many shots) and how you edit! What I haven't really given a lot of thought is printing, I would love to see another video on the printing, how you choose the paper for different images and what you think about other materials like aluminium or acrylic? Thanks a lot you are a great inspiration! :)
Very informative, thanks! Always interesting to see how different photographers edit their photos. And I must say I wasn't that impressed when I saw these images on Flickr and Instagram, but in this video they just look stunning. That camera is pretty amazing too. Looking forward to your Iceland trip! I was there myself just last month, a photographer's paradise. I was glad I watched your last Iceland video beforehand, learned a lot from that. :)
Thank you very much for this awesome video and of course the other two parts. Learned a lot! Please do more of these editing videos if you have the time. I love to watch how your RAW files become the final amazing image. Greetings from Germany! :)
I was in Iceland for a couple of weeks last month, my 3rd trip! Such a beautiful country although I did have to abandon my car in a whiteout blizzard on top of a mountain pass...
Thomas Heaton Took my camera on the slopes in Tignes in October with a black rapid sling strap, worked great and got some decent shots! My fav - www.flickr.com/photos/tgs98/24594000313/in/dateposted-public/lightbox/
Thomas i really love your work you are a true inspiration ! I really admire your images and your workflow and also enjoy your vlogging type of video. You combine photography / filmmaking perfectly. Keep up the awesome work can't wait for future videos :)
Great video, as usual. You edit your images very similarly to me, which is nice to see. I am curious for the next vid to see how you edit for printing. Thanks, keep up the great content!
Legendary Tomo! I thought you'd be more of a NIK guy though - New Zealand would welcome you with open arms BTW with that Landscape work your producing.
Don't worry about people asking for more regular content. The reason people watch is because of the effort you put in. That would drop if you were releasing content none stop.
Also agree with this
M8, I would love to watch ads if I know you get money off off it. You deserve it!
Ignore the trolls, and never stop filming/uploading your adventures!
ps. I love how you're "Self portrait" Collection has more images than any other collection in your LR catalogues haha!
4:01 in ;) He only takes the photo if he's sure it makes a great image! Lots of self-confidence in that folder ^^
Ha, I thought this might get picked up on. These are from a shoot I had done a few weeks ago, trust me, only about 10 images in that folder are rated.
Don't be afraid of adding adverts or monetising your videos. Anyone who would complain about this has no idea how lucky they are to be getting videos like this for free. Keep up the great work!
Favorite UA-cam broadcaster at the moment. Monetize and reap the rewards, we will still watch!!
Don't be so scared of making money from your amazing videos Thom. I don't think anyone believes you are a "sellout" or whatever ridiculous term people come up with. Money is a good thing and you need it to keep making more high quality content.

As I see it you create an amazing value for the viewers with these videos. You should have no "guilt" or whatever in getting some compensation from what you produce. Watching a short ad is really nothing compared to what we get from your videos.

I am having fun... that is rule number 1. Thank you for your kind message.
Don´t let people push you to produce more videos. Quality takes time and not having a video every 3 days is making your vidoes more exciting.
Don't apologize for making money on your videos, Thomas. You deserve the ad-revenue for all of the great content you produce.
Brilliant video Thomas. You said it was not a tutorial. It was consistent with your easy style and I'm sure most people learnt a lot. As a born again enthusiast myself I find this very helpful. Thank you.

I have learned from experience to keep things as simple as possible. thanks for the comment.
i think speak for most people that watch your channel. Put the ads up, your content is amazing.
We never complain about not enough content.. except you need to do more videos.. its a good thing. The +Thomas Heaton Photography show is fab
Hey Thomas I have to say out of all the youtube channels I've subscribed to I do look forward to watching these updates. As for funding the trips get it which ever way you can mate. looking forward to the next instalment.
That panorama was gorgeous Thomas! Great job!
Quality not quantity Tom! Vids are perfect the way they are!

Loving this series Thomas, you should definitely do more of these "In the field & post / printing" video's.
lovely...thanks many great tips...I knew about the brushes but never knew how to use it in different pictures.
Thank you for sharing your processing techniques with us. I've used photoshop exclusively for years. I see now that LR has come a long way since I tried it 6 years ago. I like your minimalist approach. Always great videos from you Thomas. I hope you're having a blast in Iceland.
Thank you. LR is great, I wouldn't use anything else. Iceland was crazy and a lot of hard work. I'm still catching up on sleep.
Great resolution on does photos is amazing how much you can crop and zoom to get some better details of things and it still looks very sharp ! by the way loved the black and white pano hope to see it print soon of your wall !!! I think is gonna look great.
Great vid Thomas I've picked up some useful tips thanks! And your images are stunning! 👍
Sick in bed and now this video shows up, than Thomas for making this less painful!
Cheers up!
Love your work
Oh no. Get well soon.

That's very kind of you to say, thanks a lot.
Great vid as usual. Look forward to more.Big hello from Australia
Excellent vid Mr H, Great work and got me on LR to try out some of your techniques.
Just a suggestion. Look at the dehaze slider, which may be too powerful, and the radial filter. Both can be used to give drama to the photo.
I will look in to this, thanks.

Loved this video! Learnt alot. Please do more :D ps Please dont worry about ads. Watching them is our way of supporting you!
Fascinating as always.
Great video! I would get rid of the dark triangular area at the bottom right of the b&w pano., it seems to keep drawing my eye to it.
Can't wait for the Iceland trip again!!! Also, you should try being a skier and a photographer :) So much fun!
I have tried skiing once, I loved it, but I fell over a lot. Food for thought though.

I leave for Iceland on Thursday for a week, might bump into you :) Another enjoyable and informative video. Cheers.
Be sure to say hello if you do.
Awesome Video Thomas!
Got Lightroom recently and seeing these processing examples is very useful
awesome, thanks for letting me know.
With all the work you put into these videos you should enable ads. I don't think people mind. I know I don't. Thanks for the great content.
Hi Thomas, what happened to part 4, the printing video? I'd be really curious to see it and the end result of this trip!
Agree - I have just discovered Thomas' channel and I am working my way through all the episodes. I hope he does the 4th part - printing the pano
Definitely learned a bit about Lightroom, thanks!
You have a great job!
Don’t worry about the ads your videos are great
This panorama... Sweet baby Jesus what a picture... Personally would leave in color but still :)
Brilliant video Thomas, really enjoyed it, keep it up :)
4 parts! yay, more videos the better!
Legendary Tomo! I thought you'd be more of a NIK guy though - New Zealand would welcome you with open arms BTW with that Landscape work your producing.
Amazing video!
I noticed you missed a black triangular wedge in the bottom right corner that needs to be cloned out. Keep up the great work.
You da bomb Thomas :). I wish I could afford to go to these locations to shoot these amazing landscapes😿
Love your videos thank you for sharing and put your ads if you want we don't mind
Great sunset place there would be Aiguillette des Houches. Fantastic for the sunset with the mont blanc pink.
Thanks for the processing, you need to do more! :)
looking forward to the iceland vlogs!
Great video like always, Can you do a video on how to make that White border around the image?
