My son just turned 2 and loves to spend time in the shop with me. He always wants to be up working on my bench, which can be dangerous at times. Therefor I will be building one of these for him! Thank you for the Inspiration and congrats on your 2nd child 111
CONGRATS on the new arrival! Terrific build which will come in very handy I'm sure. That vice is really unique & should function well............ 👍👍👏👏😉😉
Just found your channel yesterday and after looking through a few videos, honest think it might be the perfect woodworking channel on youtube. Covers all the important points other channels miss: Clear pictures of the finished product. To-the-point descriptions of what is being done and why it was done that way, including measurements. Woodworking tips and tricks for completing the project. No annoying loud music over everything. Beautiful, relatively simple projects that are pretty diverse but don't use absurdly expensive CNC tools or $10,000 mills - all doable in a garage workshop without a million dollars or a sponsorship. Finishing details and wood species listed. I could go on but seriously, you have a new fan and I'm looking forward to using one of your apothecary builds as the foundation of my next project!
I appreciate the comment. Glad to hear you like the channel! Let me know how that apothecary style build goes and feel free to reach out if you have any questions about it. Take care Craig.
Such a cool build! I just finished a table top workbench (18x26, extends to 36") from another youtubers video. Love it! Mine isn't as cute as yours! Congratulations on the birth of your baby boy! Enjoy every minute, they grow too fast!
Awesome for small work pieces, its is ergonomically a good tool. For small work I use a vice a versa vice mounted on a piece of oak board so it can be used anywhere! This is on vice I would not be with out. Many are making them, but mines a York! Good value. It's not ax beater vice but a finishing vice! Good video and work you are doing and I loved the book cases! Steven Columbus Michigan
Nice build. I'm just super sizing mine to 7 feet 6 inches x 42 inches wide. Have 2 vises and map cabinet underneath but very similar in build. It's a pain in the butt lifting and moving coz of the shear weight when building. I did mortise and tenon drawbore. Table top is actually free floating but will have an oblong screw to allow for any wood movement so I can take the top off to reflatten if need be. Live the mini build can't wait to get mine done.
Thanks Ryder! Sleep is still at a premium! I’ll use it for my normal doweling. But it’ll come in handy for fine work because it raises the material up so I don’t have to bend down.
Just a quick idea. The threads feel tighter because you have more threads engaged as you go deeper. Rather than trim the end of the threads to make them shorter, remove the threads nearest the handle by sanding or turning them back until you only have as many threads engaged as you need.
Hey Allen, that’s a great suggestion. I had considered routing the underside of the benchtop so that there was only an inch or so of threads to engage. Your idea sounds simpler!
I am looking to build a mini work bench. l like your design. I have a tablet, no computer, can your sketch up drawings be put in pdf? Thanks, Roger Wilborn
Next, the kid will want equally downsized tools to use with it. Just remember, that will beat doing nothing but turning into a pudgeball playing videogames.
It’s cute but what’s it for? Your kids at some point or did you have a use in mind?
I plan on using it for my other mini builds. It’ll raise the material up a bit so it’s easier to work on. It’s completely unnecessary though.
@@parillaworks Gotcha. I’m just about done building my new workbench so I’m pretty excited
@@TheTranq Cutting dovetails, anything that requires a chest-level work surface. Maybe watchmaking.
@@AJ-iu6nw Cutting dovetails? Not a chance not heavy enough. Watchmaking I suppose or any kind of small electronic work
@@TheTranq It's very heavy! It's as heavy as the life-size workbench that it clamps onto, PLUS it's own weight!
Beaurful build and congrats on the birth of your baby boy! May he live a long and healthy life together with his family!
Thanks so much!

Another awesome build John! 👍🏻 Congratulations on the new baby! 👏👏 Thank you for sharing!
Well done sir
This is so cool!
Awesome idea looks great
I LOVE that you were using soppy cups for the mineral oil. We used to use the same ones! 😂
Lol I hope my daughter doesn’t notice!
That’s great thanks for sharing.

It's so cute I love it
Really beautiful work, dude! The workbench looks great! 😃
Congrats for the baby boy!!!
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊

Awesome John! Congrats again on the baby. I hope everyone is sleeping well by now! Are you gonna use this for dovetails and the like?
Thanks Ryder! Sleep is still at a premium! I’ll use it for my normal doweling. But it’ll come in handy for fine work because it raises the material up so I don’t have to bend down.
The link to the sketch up file came up blank! Any suggestions? I like the project!
Not sure what’s going on with the link. Send me an email parillaworks@gmail.com. I’ll send it to you there.

Aren't dowels quite weak? I would think a proper joint would be way stronger? Or isn't it necessary because of how you will use it?
They’re essentially round mortise and tenons joints. As long as you get good glue coverage, the joint should be pretty strong.
@@parillaworks Actually makes sense... Beautiful build!
How do I get a copy of the sketchup file?

cool
Hi, nice job. New Sub
Отлично!
Are you able to provide .pdf files for this build? SketchUp has proven to be a huge learning curve for me, I'm ashamed to say.
Hi Melinda! No problem, send me an email at parillaworks@gmail.com and I’ll try to get some simpler drawings put together for you.
07:25 *No, no* - the top of the workbench is just about right for the branding! No false modesty.
Maybe a little boy or girl would like using that....
Next, the kid will want equally downsized tools to use with it. Just remember, that will beat doing nothing but turning into a pudgeball playing videogames.
Lol at this point in time she enjoys dropping screws and “painting” with the glue bottle.
the turning handles suck
