I can't tell you or express how gratifying it is to see Demi Moore in an 'actors on actors' and finally being taken seriously when she's been making brilliant thought-provoking work for decades. 'Indecent Proposal' will forever be one of my favourite movies of all time - and then there's 'Ghost' etc.
I like it so much that all the interviews are purely dialogue between the actors and nothing more. No music in the background, no obvious cuts, no advertising in the middle. Just a dialogue between two beautiful actresses. A special compliment to the editor of these videos, because I almost don’t notice where the cuts are happening, the whole interview feels like one shot!
Amy Adams, the actress that should've won an Oscar by now especially for Arrival. I'll forever be upset that The Academy snubbed her for Arrival and yet she was still invited to the show to present Best Adapted Screenplay to Moonlight. While it's nice to see her at the Oscar stage (aside presenting, she's probably there to support Arrival too), the fact that she was there in the year where Arrival was nominated for several awards and she wasn't part of it made me so sad 😢
I am sorry, but i'll put it right here Emma Stone deserved her oscar for her incredible performance in La La Land! The "audition" scene alone earned her that oscar, when i saw that scene i knew right there and right then she has no competition! No offense to Amy Adams, but Emma Stone worked for her butt for that one, as simpke as that!
In another year she would have greater chance...it's just bad timing pitted against talented juggernaut and complete chameleon like Emma Stone, who transforms into character she plays!
@@Summon256 "Emma Stone worked for her butt for that one" You're saying this as if actors who were nominated besides her didn't worked hard enough? Everyone who are nominated worked had enough, all equal, no need to say others who lost or didn't get nominated didn't work as hard as Stone in La La Land. It's all on what the material that they got 🤷
These are amazing actresses who deserve their flowers. I’m really hoping Demi gets in at the Oscars this year as a first time nominee and Amy gets in soon as well. She should’ve been nominated for Arrival!
The Substance is one of the best movies I've seen recently, it hits you in the face and gets you hooked. I remember when I first saw it, I was blown away, I wasn't expecting such a ride and I actually wanted to see the movie because I didn't have anything else to watch, so I was like ,,meh, I'll watch this one", the title of the film didn't got me intrigued as well, being a pretty ordinary title but man oh man was I in for a treat. Love the Requiem for a Dream, The Shining and Tarantino influences, the director has good taste, if you haven't seen it yet, get ready for a rollercoaster ride.
The best Actors on Actors episode I’ve seen so far. It’s so easy for it to fall into a vanity fest. This was intelligent and profound, which obviously speaks to both Demi Moore and Amy Adams.
Two exceptional actresses right here who deserve Oscars. Demi Moore was so in demand back in the 80s and 90s. She and Bruce Willis was a hot Hollywood couple. She really did get treated badly by Ashton and the fact she and Bruce are so close with each other today, especially with what he's going through is incredibly moving and kind. There is something about Demi's voice is so hypnotic, so rich. The Substance was such an outrageous but powerful film about age and wanting to be loved. Yes Margaret Qualley was fantastic but it's also about Demi Moore and she deserves all the praise she is getting for this film. A nomination should be locked, hopefully a win. Amy Adams has been robbed of an oscar so many times now. I fell in love with her in Enchanted, a true Disney princess. Seeing her in other films including Doubt, American Hustle, Big Eyes shows that Amy isnt just a soft spoken sweet actress. Alot of range. Watching this with these two is just entertaining and interesting how they do agree on so many similar things, talking about their recent projects which are outrageously entertaining and raw but very relatable themes of ageism, motherhood and finding themselves.
Goddesses! Amy and Demi are brilliant and 111% deserve Academy award nominations amongst others! Amy Adams is brilliant, she's my most favourite actress ever!
This was so interesting, they went deep and brought up some points about acting and their lives as women and mothers I had never thought of before! Brilliant for real
Such a wise words in this interview. I feel like I just learned what years of therapy may provide. These two great actresses are a delight. I feel so fortunate having listened to this.
I actually really like Demi. Ive loved her movies since i was little but never really seen her interviews. Its Wonderful to see a good actress seem just as cool in person. She seems really indepth and intelligent. She always has such a beautiful family. All of those beautiful daughters. I Loved that she did her research on Amy before her interview with her.
I think what makes The Substance being the best movie that Demi Moore has ever been in is because the role marks a significant departure from her previous work. While she has a history of taking on physically demanding and provocative roles, such as G.I. Jane and Striptease aswell as subtle ones like Margin Call, The Substance allows her to delve deeper into complex themes of aging, identity, and societal pressures. The film's satirical and horror elements provide a platform for Moore to explore the psychological and physical transformation of her character in a way that is both daring and emotionally resonant. And because she nailed all of this perfectly, she deserves an Academy Award nomination at the very least! 👍
Not since the 2009 oscars and Sandra Bullock for 'The Blind Side' have I cared and been invested so much about an actor - Demi Moore' receiving a Best Actress nomination - and defying insurmountable odds and actually getting THE WIN!
...did they get that dinner...?!?!! They're so different but that's what makes it work. Both highly intelligent, well spoken and experienced. Felt natural, like it could've continue half the day. Good job.
I can't believe Demi has never been nominated for an Oscar when she's far more talented than Julia Roberts and Angelina Jolie, two minimally talented spoiled actresses who used clout and influence to win awards. The scene where Demi broke into one-eye crying in Ghost should have been an Oscar-winning moment. I'm not really a fan of Amy Adams' acting. She can play a gritty role, but the performance doesn't quite hit it right.
I am OK with Julia (she did some amazing work with Joel Schumacher, or in her last one in that distopian movie), her problem is, she's not enough diverse as far as choosing different roles, but I agree with you on Angelina Jolie.
They dont need recognition the Academy. They know damn well how good they are and we do too. What do Awards mean anyway when they obviously keep ignoring deserving performances?
A Leo and a Scorpio... right there major differences and neither one is going to show their true self. Problematic to say the least: a Scorpio (Moore) will always want to dig deeper until the bone is discovered while Leo (Adams) has no use for that and is much more comfortable speaking about appearances and a blanket statements. Not to mention (or god forbid offend anyone), I've watched Adams in many of these thihgs before (the Hollywood reporter for one) and god bless her, she just doesn't have the gift of expressing herself verbally in comparison to anyone else in whom company she was in. She sounds a bit... simple Obviously, with Adams we have a multiple nominee and winner and she is an absolutely brilliant performer. Yet with Demi, everything she has ever done came across as just truthful and deeper, even when it was a showy part. You always sense something deeper with her and never ever feel like it's an actress performing
This is perhaps the most suitable duo just because they are two wonderful actors who have yet to be rewarded as they should be
QUEENS!
Love this take.
Amy should have 4 oscars by now
Amy Adams was nominated 6 times for an Oscar, and that doesn’t even include her best performance (Arrival) Shaking my head
so true!
Two legends sitting together is everything I need
The pairings this film season were fascinating interviews! Variety always has great-concepts for candid conversations amongst actors.

Ironically i think that Demi Moore will be "snubbed" against Jolie's portrayal of Maria Callas for this year...

YES!!! I'M ROOTING FOR HER!!! ❤
I love to see Amy so comfortable with Demi, they really connected
Now this is what you call a Mother Off because they’re 2 queens queening in every moment ❤
I'm happy that Demi is experiencing a reneissance (or a Demisance) with The Substance.
I love the substance so much i've watched it like over 10 times 😭😭😭
The definition of a mother off
I have so many thoughts - this is possibly the best pairing so far- the collective energy and chemistry and engagement is palpable and beyond.
Let's be honest....this is the best Variety award season to this date.
Amazing

Shes demi has never been nominated? That's crazy. She definitely gives Oscar worthy performances .
Arrival was not that good
This is the only pairing that is truly genuine in the conversations they are having. Very real topics ❤️ love these ladies!

It’s so great to see Demi really back in the spotlight the way she used to be.
I LOVE seeing Demi Moore back on the scene! Welcome back, Miss Moore.
I did not expect to enjoy this that much.
My fav since Andrew Garfield and Ryan Reynolds. The Cynthia and Angelina one was boring.
STILL Waiting for the Oscar Academy to get its HEAD Out of its ASS and Give Amy a Damn OSCAR Already!!!!!
Amy fangirling over Demi was so cute to see
Their chemistry is incredible ❤
Now THIS IS ICONIC
If demi won oscar for best actress that would be insane
Who ever made this one happen, needs a raise! I could listen to these 2 strong women talk for hours.
The most captivating conversation out of all of these! Love them both so much

Amy not being nominated for Arrival was so wild
Demi Moore first appearance on Actors on Actors series let's fking go!!!
I want to see her win the Oscar this year, would be 100% deserved.
Both have played Disney heroines: Demi Moore voiced Esmeralda, and Amy Adams voiced/played Giselle!
please talk about Arrival… please talk about Arrival…

An interview of Amy Adams and Denis Villeneuve was just released a couple of days ago where they talked about Arrival

The first episode where the actors are being themselves and not pretending.
Amy is spectacular ❤
This pairing is sooooo good they're both amazing and so wize with great experiences
I will watch anything Amy Adams is in. Just anything, even reels! She is marvelous
I have to say-Demi looks really, really good. She’s aged very well.
Yes, but lots of plastic surgery…facelift…etc.
Makes sense to get the 2 actresses in the weirdest movies of the year together.
Both actors had to use such physicality and transformativeness in their respective roles
Kudos to Variety for always choosing interesting pairings...
