This is the most fun I've had between 12.30 and 4 AM since I was in college 😁! Thank you NMC and Omar, and thank you to all the great panelists, a string of new channels for me to get acquainted with now that I know what goods hands I'll be in with their videos!
This is one of the best conversations on graphic novels… Fantastic participants.. Will look forward to many such conversations in future with the same panel members… ❤
This was so much fun and I love that it was all to support public literacy and access to great comics. Looks like I need to argue harder from The Crimson Cage next time!
Awesome stream idea, I was hyped to see all the love for in a sunbeam! My top 5 would be: Maus On a sunbeam Fun Home They Called us Enemy Ms Marvel A ton of cool stuff I hadn’t heard of to add to my tbr, hopefully the LA library watches this video so I can check everything out
Too bad I missed this live but glad to be watching the VOD now. I'm in library school right now to begin a second career as a librarian, so this discourse is important to me. You all had some really great insights about libraries and their collections. If I find myself in the position of selecting material for a public library, this video is definitely a resource to consider.
When I finally get straight with my budget you guy make a video like this and "pull me back in" with these amazing recommendations to suck my wallet bone dry. Thanks 😀
Love this group of people and the books that came out of it. Please find more topics to debate in the same way! (One specifically aimed at books to go in a children's library would be great, or you could counteract this list with one that is specifically about superheroes!)
This was so great. Such a fun debate! Those 3.5 hours flew by. Loved everyone's picks too. It's impossible to pick 5, but if a gun was put to my head: Nausicaa, Barefoot Gen, American Born Chinese, Elfquest, Love and Rockets.
I mentioned Love & Rockets on the stream as a series I was surprised no one mentioned, but Barefoot Gen is a great pick for this! If we'd been allowed 10 options a piece it probably would have made my list but the stream would probably still be going on right now!
Great stream idea, much appreciated! My picks (hardest choice I've ever made): From Hell Bone Calvin & Hobbes Akira Batman Killing Joke The considering was so brutal that I had to leave out Love & Rockets if only for the sole reason that it maybe should be the secret sauce it is.
Such a brilliant and insightful session. Honestly I was kinda expecting FTLOC to have Carl Barks Library in his list. But overall, terrific picks by everyone ❤ Looking forward to many more such sessions in the days to come, Omar. With love, from India.
I literally paused this to purchase the entire Olympians by George O'Conner series when Peter recommended it. Marvel was my first mythology but when I discovered Norse and Greek mythology in my school library in 5th grade it was life-changing.
With all of these evergreen/library streams, I feel like 6 picks should be for the average consumer in mind - easy entry points/popular books. 2 of the picks should have historical value to the medium. and the last 2 picks should be deeper cuts/challenging books. You will get consumers who will stick with the first 6 books and seek out more like them and be happy to leave it at that. And that's awesome. Not everyone needs to be a super fan that knows all the deep cuts or wants to read books from 50+ years ago. But those who become really passionate about the hobby, will have avenues to engage more deeply with the hobby, by having the last 4 picks be a way to dig deeper.

Thank you so much for joining on this one, my friend. Let's do it again.

What an amazing episode with so many different style of books!
Awesome stream idea, I was hyped to see all the love for in a sunbeam! My top 5 would be:
Maus

They Called us Enemy

Glad you liked this it was an honor to be part of it.
This was so wonderful to watch. I'm sorry I couldn't join the LIVE, but rewatched the whole thing. And wow so many great books mentioned!
Also this is a perfect way to show people that theres is life beyond super heroes. You've done a great job!
Amazing conversations and with so much in depth and knowledge. Do this again Omar! Please.

Check out your library! That's the beauty of this!
Time to put that library card to work!

This is technically a hidden gems video, great list of books to check out

My picks (hardest choice I've ever made):
From Hell
Bone
Calvin & Hobbes
Akira
Batman Killing Joke

I found this conversation fascinating since I work in a public library.
Superman Smashes the Klan is an awesome choice. Sad to see Ms Marvel not make the cut but we still got some great choices.
You me and both feeling that sadness about Ms. Marvel missing the cut. Too many other great books, which is a great problem to have!

New Frontier deserves an HM
Is there any chance you can make a new video with edits that just list the books?
