If they let you record for longer and also at a 16:9 aspect ratio these could actually be used outside of Snapchat. But paying $150 just to open your Snapchat capability is a waste.
Just crop it to a 16:9 ratio. If you look through a fisheye lens it's circle but the sensor is 4:3 or 16:9 so it crops it for you. The snap spectacles just have a sensor that is probably a square that's larger than the rear element.
Side note I wish there was an action cam like this so I could mount it to the tank of my motorbike and have 1 axis digitally stableized fotage.
I would buy if it was capable of 16:9
With the first version cropping 16:9 out of the circle was awful quality-wise

Even though I abandoned their explore page a long time ago on IG, that fully depends who you follow on IG. Snapchat doesn't care about people you message, they show you edgy teens with doggo filters on their discovery page either way.
Barely anyone I know posts any more. Everyone just seems to have moved over to Instagram. Snapchat aren't helping themselves either with their garbage Android app and an update that pissed a lot of people off.
I own the first version, and I love them, even I don't use them daily! I use them for many reasons specially when I go to theme parks where cameras, cellphones, gopros, etc are not allowed... And why people don't think out of the box?? You are not stuck with snapchat, You can transfer the files from the app in HD to your Phone and use it for any purpose, any social media... I got some awesome footage not possible with other devices...

I'm a filmmaker with a physical disability I would totally use this technology constantly if it didn't just record in that circle format just for snapchat. If they could record in HD - even if the bitrate wasn't great - I would use these constantly and pay more. The only thing that stops me running out the door to buy these is the fact that they only record that circle video.

I actually really like the idea behind the glasses - effortlessly capturing whatever you're experiencing... but they just aren't good enough, I want to be able to record for longer and automatic transfer is a must. Also they made them more expensive when price was a big issue before!

My biggest issue with them is because of that weird video format. If they or anyone else does it in the standard wide screen format, I'd buy them in a heartbeat!
Telling from the comments, that I must be the only person who actually like the spectacles and use them regularly when on Holiday. However, one of the biggest thing which grinds my gears about them is the fact when you export videos they are still in the stupid circle border instead of expand the video full frame

The problem with this product is that it's inherently a gimmick. It's only slightly more easy than taking out your phone but it's ridiculously cumbersome to specifically charge and remember to bring these everywhere to actually use them. And add to that the fact that they don't look good enough to first be useful as sunglasses. It's a flawed concept.

PNathan nawh these are amazing when you're rollerblading or biking or skiing. If you're buying sun glasses they have have an amazing case that charges them and like I said... If you're buying sun glasses anyway why not ones with a camera built in

I didn't even know there was a new version until I saw this post. I have the first version and would buy this one too. I use them 4-5 times a week now.
Snapchat: Stop trying too hard on something that we spontaneously use
They said they were going to change the ui of the app, because everyone hates the new layout. But instead, they release more glasses. Other than fixing the reason everyone doesn't like Snapchat anymore.
I am actually going to buy it and that's why I'm here watching this video. The worst case is one day snapchat dead, so I still have these spectacles in memory of my high school most often used social media. Also, very help vid, thanks.

Stupid question but how do I turn off the Veronica spectacles?
I have the original spectacles. They got a software update today and now function the same as the 2.0: press = 10 second video. Double press = 20 second video. Triple press = 30 second video. Hold the button = photo. My spectacle snaps transfer in HD automatically on Android 8.1 super smart they gave the new software to the old lenses. Only thing the new ones have is slightly better resolution. Dual mics, look slightly different. Slightly lighter. Splash proof.
I ordered mine with my prescription and I can’t wait to get them!
The photos look terribly distorted. Not very useful.
I wouldn't mind buying them, the price is low enough that if I had nothing else to spend on I would splurge to get it. I don't mind how they look, and the fact that I can order a prescription version is very convenient.
I have V1 and I put prescription lenses in them and use them every week. I've taken tons of snaps with them. Some cons with V1 is bad low light video and major wind noise. This guy said there will be "less" wind noise and 25% more pixel density in V2

They should've thought that through and if you're trying to run a streak, hopefully you can remember who you're streaking with because the fire symbol is always there. Yeah... they pretty much screwed themselves on that one. They will have a lot more unsold glasses for version 2.

Circular photos - perfect for that circular photo frame on my mantelpiece, and those videos are gonna look great on my new circular UHD 4k TV...with all that white space around it.......what’s not to like! While this is a newer and better product the controversy around snap is going to hold it back. One of the Kardashian doesn't use it anymore. Rhianna stopped using it. It user base was not happy with the new redesign. So those issues might hold the glasses back
OMG!!! I ligit looked this up yesterday and was saying, “Dang, I need them.”
What I dont get is why do the video/images have to be circular since every phone camera has a circular lens. I get that having less space for processing, a weaker connection, and the fact that the lenses are so far apart makes it all the more challenging. But all said, I'm not really sure why they're sticking with it
Good program sound (except it could be better with a directional body mike which will make a recording with a better signal-to-noise ratio in high ambient noise situations) but please omit the annoying, somewhat too-loud music.

Yea, I got these to use on my IG story. The problem is that they only export in the circle format, so you'll have to zoom in a bit, and you'll still see some white borders

Not really that much. My friends started using snapchat more just now. 47% of US teens considered Snapchat as their most important social network as of 2017 October.
It kind of is because of the newest update released in 2018. Millions of people signed a competition to go back to the last design. Usually, the stories of your friends would be on the right side and now the right side is only advertisements. Snapchat responded to the outrage and said that they will not change their newest design.

Always take glasses off with two hands. If you pull it with just one hand, you will make the glasses unaligned
They still don't really add much to the user experience. You still have to take your phone out. Recording video is just as quick using your phone. I don't get why they bet on having an always-ready camera when everyone already has one in their pocket.
