Before I never got compliments on my outfits, but ever since I took your style class, Bethany, the compliments are raining in ;-D For example A few months back I was at a ballet in the following outfit: bordeaux silk shirt with a hint of a ruffle at the collar, beige wide leg paperbag pants, wide camel leather belt with an ornate brass buckle and high heeled camel suede ankle boots. Hair on a loose low bun, discreet gold jewelry and to top it off a patterned silk handkerchief in complimenting colors just hanging a bit from my trouser pocket. An elderly lady came to talk to me, took my hand in both of hers and talked long about how I look very classy and elegant, just like a movie star of old, and how it is lovely to see a young (I’m 40!)woman who can dress so well and how it is a delight to her eyes to watch me and she just had to come and talk to me. I was just overwhelmed by this, it truly made my day and I was just on cloud nine for like a week after that! Encounters like these give me such a confidence boost, and it is safe to say your style class has changed my life.
Me too ! I’m teaching summer school and sometimes you can get a little slack in your dress ! Now that I’ve been more aware of my fashion forward I am getting noticed from students ! Definitely a high point 💃

One day I went to a guided tour of the Rietveld Schröderhuis -a famous architect and designer- in Utrecht and, at the end of the visit, our guide said to me: "By the way, I love your outfit". I felt awesome and much more connected to the country and its people.
I went to a cafe with my friends and the two girls already sitting there complimented me and my friend. Also, one day a complete stranger said 'You look gorgeous ' I felt so refreshing and alive.
Last week I was wearing a Tradlands jumpsuit, white sneakers, some fun earrings, and was wearing my hair in a different way than usual. I was feeling a bit sad that morning but then two of my peers walked past me and said that they loved my outfit. It really brightened up my day :)
I went out to an art exhibition on Saturday and 3 strangers complimented me on my outfit in the space of about 2 hours. I do get occasional compliments from strangers and many from friends, but I knew I must have really nailed it this time as it was so unusual for me!
Bethany I was wearing a mid length tiered, floaty dress I was wearing to an afternoon tea for a friends birthday (here in England) recently. I had so many compliments on it and was asked where I bought it, I had to tell them I had sewn it myself but was able to direct them to a couple of shops nearby where you could buy similar styles. So then I received further compliments for that. As I’m 5ft 1” I prefer to sew most of my wardrobe as I get a better fit and therefore the longer styles don’t drown me. X

Some of your videos have even made me a little emotional because of how authentic and beautiful you are. You seem to be really living in your truth and at peace with who you are. Since working at home starting two years ago, the grocery store is pretty much the only regular place I go to outside of the house. I use that time to make an effort to wear actual clothes. So the grocery store is usually where I get my outfit complements nowadays. Definitely makes me smile after wearing sweats most of the week.
A few weeks ago an old lady complimented me on my casual summer dress (floral midi dress with puff sleeves), she said “I love your dress. It looks very good on you!” Last summer some man complimented on the pattern of the same dress. I think it’s especially nice when people compliment not just your clothing, but the way it looks on you or compliment your style in general or notice some little interesting details, it makes a compliment more personable. I remember last year at the art museum a museum worker complimented my style saying I look very chic when I was wearing pretty simple all black outfit with different textures, hair in a low bun and golden jewelry. Some other time an older lady at the farmer’s market complimented me saying I am a classy young lady☺️. Compliments like that really make your day, especially when you don’t put a lot of effort into your outfit, you just wearing casual comfortable outfit that makes you feel the most like yourself. …As for another memorable compliment, a couple years ago some teenage boy followed me at the store staring at me and making me feel uncomfortable, then he tapped me on the shoulder and said that I look like Kendall Jenner haha. So fun!! Ill never forget, i was on my college campus like 10 years ago, I was wearing high waisted american apparel denim shorts. Back then, the only place you could get high waisted anything was from the thrift store or american apparel. On top I was wearing a black and white vertical striped tank top, jailhouse chic, with some platform white sneaks and two girls drove by, rolled down their window and complimented my outfit. remember to this day, always looking to reach that vibe lol.
I still remember to this day. It was the first time I was visiting the hairdresser I see from time to time. I had on seafoam colored skinnies, a vintage, soft jean jacket (floral print, cropped) and nude booties. She looooooved my jacket and complimented it twice. I could see that she was captivated by the print. I remember her compliment (this was some 5 years ago) whenever I wear the jacket. I love it and continue to get compliments today! ☺️

I get compliments on my outfits from strangers regularly, but I also live in NYC so there are a lot of strangers here, haha! 😁 My favorite outfits tend to pair casual and fancy pieces. Like I’ll wear slouchy jeans and a crop top (casual) with heels and a funky jacket (fancy). Or I’ll wear platform converse and a slouchy jacket (casual) with a nice dress (fancy).
I love these outfits, however, sadly, most are out of my price range. But that doesn’t take away from the creative genius that you are in putting together these stunning outfits.😘
While my mom was checking her stuff out at CVS, I was in the makeup aisle browsing through make up. I heard a woman who stopped next to me and said that she loved my outfit. I was wearing an olive green puffed sleeved dress, mustard colored heels, and a matching colored purse adorned with a big bow. She was really sweet. I made it a vow to complement someone whenever I see them wearing a cute outfit, etc.

For my 18 th birthday I told my mum that I'm an adult now I'm going to get a dress myself( before this I almost always went to shop with mum it's a Bonding time for us) so I get this beautiful blue dress it's my favourite shade looked so beautiful with my skin tone and I feel so confident and comfortable in it ... I didn't show the dress to anyone telling them it'll be a surprise..so before my birthday I was PMS-ing 😶 and I was so hormonal and irritated and when I put on that dress for my birthday dinner I didn't feel confident or nice at all so I felt like crying but when I went downstairs all my close friends and family complimented my outfit and praised my choice it just made me so so happy now I feel happy whenever I put on that dress it doesn't matter if I'm bloated or anything I put on that dress I feel confident it's one of my fondest memories

I think this comment can’t be stressed enough! I prided myself on quality, tailored outfits which I was happy to spend a pretty penny on but now that I’m a mom, not a day goes by I don’t have mud, tomato sauce, oil, or water on my clothes! That doesn’t at all include the first 6 months of newborn spit up every 2 hours. Dry cleaning? Ahh! No wonder moms default to yoga pants for 18 years. I usually get my compliments from my twin sister! I usually get them when I wear outfits which really express who I am. Recent compliments I got was for my pearl earrings and a navy colored short sleeved t-shirt with contrast linings and denim (wide legged). Pearls def. heightened the whole mood and I felt good hving to wear something I like and look good at the same time:)

I took a note from your monochrome style at Church: a light beige tweed blazer, a blouse with floral/lace details on the collar and wrists, clip-on boho fringe earrings, and a long pearl necklace to add some sparkle. I got several compliments, which I liked. I also liked it because it was an outfit appropriate to Church, and I didn't feel like I forced the look, or was doing it for attention. Great video Bethany as always! My compliment came when I was on my way to our cabin in Maine. We stopped at a coffee shop in Rangel Maine and the girl behind the counter complimented me on my outfit. I was pretty surprised because to me it wasn’t anything real special. We had a long drive so I wanted to be comfortable and after all we were going to be in a very isolated place out in the woods by a lake. I had on navy tied waist pants ( almost like a sweat pant) and a white crew neck tee, on top of that I wore a jean shirt with the sleeves rolled up. Not a lot of jewelry, a wide silver bracelet, a watch and small silver hoop earrings. On my feet I wore Berkinstocks. What I was wearing felt very much like me and perhaps the physical and emotional comfort I felt had something to do with my “ nothing special” outfit getting the compliment. It made my day. It’s a very nice feeling and I try to pass it on with a compliment when I see someone who looks great in what thy are wearing. By the way, all your outfits looked wonderful on you! I liked the first and last best. ❤️
Today at a pharmacy, one of the workers complimented my outfit. She said the neutral colors I was wearing looked great on me. Love the white blouse you have on, detailed but not overly fussy!
Enjoyed these creative outfits very much, Bethany, and I love the DeMillier handbag. I've been looking for beautiful bags that would carry above my hips, for a more flattering silhouette. As for compliments, the most extravagant one I've received recently was when walking on Main Street in our small town with my husband. I'm gigantically pregnant right now, and I'm most comfortable in cotton maxi dresses. I was wearing a lovely cream colored one that my mother sewed for me, and a couple ladies passed us. "You're so pretty!" they generously gushed, and then told my husband, "You're so lucky!" Haha! I'm sure it had a lot to do with my big baby bump, but the cream cotton maxi dress probably stood out, too. ;)

Just the other day, I was wearing a pair of long, wide-legged dark navy jeans (I am only 150cm with short legs too) and I paired them with my Sézane Louisah top in ecru. I love hats and wish I could incorporate them more in my daily outfits, but they are not allowed in the school I teach at. My female boss who is always criticizing what people wear, told me "Oh my God, you look like a super model!" I was wearing black high waist wide leg trousers, black heels and a very contouring long sleeved emerald green turtle neck top. A woman complimented me on a shirt I wore a couple weeks ago. I don’t know her name or what she does in my building at work but I see her in the hall a few times a week & I always say hi. The top was stripes of blue, black and white with gold buttons and a front tie at the waist. She said she bought a similar top with a front tie and said she loved the look on me. ❤️
This video is awesome! Outfits 3 and 4 are my favorite! The summer I got my first boyfriend, my aunt had rented a pink and red satin wrap dress with large flowers on it. She got an extra in the mail and insisted I wear it out. I had just cut my hair that January so my short hair was free and curly, and my makeup matched my dress. I styled the dress with a white lace bra that peeked through the neckline, and fresh white sneakers (my first time trying that style!). I was going to meet my soon-to-be-then boyfriend and his best friend for hot dogs and bar hopping in the Melrose district of LA. Beforehand, I decided to go to a piano display store and check out this new brand of pianos I had my eye on. I felt so alive and confident. While I was walking to the store, two women said I looked beautiful! It completely made my day and solidified how at home I felt in my skin at the time. Such a treasured memory.
My compliment story is more about my dyed hair than my clothes but it ties into each other. When I get a compliment it's mostly because my hair is turquoise coloured and it gives me confidence when it is freshly recoloured. I tend to wear clothes then that compliment this confidence in style and colour and I think that's what stands out to people. Your style of clothing is too feminine for me because I don't feel confident in feminine stuff. But I love watching your tipps and try to translate it into my more muted clothes.
They look nice. But I can't imagine me wearing those for summer here, we are over 30ºC degrees sometimes 45ºC and it's like I have to wear almost nothing. But I like your ideas.

I wore black velvet mules with metallic floral embroidery, black flutter sleeve tie front top tucked into button front black wide-leg high-rise ankle-length jeans, black vintage belt with silver hardware, onyx stone earrings, and silver studded black clutch with a bejeweled skull clasp. I have received multiple compliments when I set my wardrobe for the week and take how I wear items seriously but with creativity! When I wear red or white I get the most compliments and when I add a dash of something like a scarf or wrap (because offices are often chilly,). ohh, mine was rather recently (two days ago, actually); I wasn't really up to it, but I put on a black & white patterned midi (not silk) skirt, with a black t-shirt and my mules for church. Also, I didn't have any jewellery on, my hair was wrapped. I leave home rather early, so no one really sees me, but on the way in my sister said "you look nice". A few months ago I was out with a friend and I was wearing combat boots, a black turtleneck and army green pants and the guy from the shop we went in said that I looked like Kim Superplus (which was one of my favourite shows when I was younger).
I was in london with my friends. We had been dancing at a pub and decided to go out for some air, we passed a couple making out heavily against a wall but didn't pay them much mind. While we were talking and laughing, the guy comes over to us: "excuse me, I saw you and just had to say-" at this point I thought oh no! he's going to hit on one of us! but he doesn't, "I LLOVE your trousers ! Theyre absolutely mint". I was wearing my favourite pin striped crimson trousers. He asked where they were from and I told him I thrifted them, he high-fived me and continued complimenting my trousers as he went back to making out with the girl. Absolute stellar interaction
I've noticed that she's never worn a blazer. All of her advices have really worked for me, but my new job requires me to wear a blazer almost every day. Any advices on length, fitting?
If you have a similar body type as me (petite in height, pear shaped and long torso), I tend to leans towards a cropped blazer. I would definitely invest in tailoring each blazer to the perfect fit if it's for your career. It will really help you stand out. 🤗

I have been getting a lot of compliments on my outfits lately and I noticed this once I changed my style and stopped worrying so much about what others were going to say about what I looked like. I branched out and tried out a lot of different things, I find myself very confident now :))

Now that I think about it, I've never gotten a compliment regarding my outfits. The ones I do get are usually age based and how I look so much younger than I really am, which don't get me wrong, I'll happily take those compliments haha. Fingers crossed someone compliments my ensemble soon! 😂

I get compliments on my outfits from strangers regularly, but I also live in NYC so there are a lot of strangers here, haha! 😁 My favorite outfits tend to pair casual and fancy pieces. Like I’ll wear slouchy jeans and a crop top (casual) with heels and a funky jacket (fancy). Or I’ll wear platform converse and a slouchy jacket (casual) with a nice dress (fancy).

While my mom was checking her stuff out at CVS, I was in the makeup aisle browsing through make up. I heard a woman who stopped next to me and said that she loved my outfit. I was wearing an olive green puffed sleeved dress, mustard colored heels, and a matching colored purse adorned with a big bow. She was really sweet. I made it a vow to complement someone whenever I see them wearing a cute outfit, etc.

For my 18 th birthday I told my mum that I'm an adult now I'm going to get a dress myself( before this I almost always went to shop with mum it's a Bonding time for us) so I get this beautiful blue dress it's my favourite shade looked so beautiful with my skin tone and I feel so confident and comfortable in it ... I didn't show the dress to anyone telling them it'll be a surprise..so before my birthday I was PMS-ing 😶 and I was so hormonal and irritated and when I put on that dress for my birthday dinner I didn't feel confident or nice at all so I felt like crying but when I went downstairs all my close friends and family complimented my outfit and praised my choice it just made me so so happy now I feel happy whenever I put on that dress it doesn't matter if I'm bloated or anything I put on that dress I feel confident it's one of my fondest memories

I find myself often just wearing athleisure wear more than I'd like. I feel like that last outfit would be perfect for looking put together but chasing after kiddos all day! :)

I think this comment can’t be stressed enough! I prided myself on quality, tailored outfits which I was happy to spend a pretty penny on but now that I’m a mom, not a day goes by I don’t have mud, tomato sauce, oil, or water on my clothes! That doesn’t at all include the first 6 months of newborn spit up every 2 hours. Dry cleaning? Ahh! No wonder moms default to yoga pants for 18 years. I usually get my compliments from my twin sister! I usually get them when I wear outfits which really express who I am. Recent compliments I got was for my pearl earrings and a navy colored short sleeved t-shirt with contrast linings and denim (wide legged). Pearls def. heightened the whole mood and I felt good hving to wear something I like and look good at the same time:)

I went to a casual Italian restaurant with some friends and was wearing a spaghetti strapped brown and cream gingham midi dress. I got 2 compliments from complete strangers and thought hmmm I should dress like this more often. It was a linen dress from Target I got about 2 years ago

I took a note from your monochrome style at Church: a light beige tweed blazer, a blouse with floral/lace details on the collar and wrists, clip-on boho fringe earrings, and a long pearl necklace to add some sparkle. I got several compliments, which I liked. I also liked it because it was an outfit appropriate to Church, and I didn't feel like I forced the look, or was doing it for attention. It felt really natural.
Besides that: as usual, you have great content and you've inspired me many times. Keep up the good work!

My compliment came when I was on my way to our cabin in Maine. We stopped at a coffee shop in Rangel Maine and the girl behind the counter complimented me on my outfit. I was pretty surprised because to me it wasn’t anything real special. We had a long drive so I wanted to be comfortable and after all we were going to be in a very isolated place out in the woods by a lake. I had on navy tied waist pants ( almost like a sweat pant) and a white crew neck tee, on top of that I wore a jean shirt with the sleeves rolled up. Not a lot of jewelry, a wide silver bracelet, a watch and small silver hoop earrings. On my feet I wore Berkinstocks. What I was wearing felt very much like me and perhaps the physical and emotional comfort I felt had something to do with my “ nothing special” outfit getting the compliment. It made my day. It’s a very nice feeling and I try to pass it on with a compliment when I see someone who looks great in what thy are wearing. By the way, all your outfits looked wonderful on you! I liked the first and last best. ❤️
Today at a pharmacy, one of the workers complimented my outfit. She said the neutral colors I was wearing looked great on me. Love the white blouse you have on, detailed but not overly fussy!

Enjoyed these creative outfits very much, Bethany, and I love the DeMillier handbag. I've been looking for beautiful bags that would carry above my hips, for a more flattering silhouette. As for compliments, the most extravagant one I've received recently was when walking on Main Street in our small town with my husband. I'm gigantically pregnant right now, and I'm most comfortable in cotton maxi dresses. I was wearing a lovely cream colored one that my mother sewed for me, and a couple ladies passed us. "You're so pretty!" they generously gushed, and then told my husband, "You're so lucky!" Haha! I'm sure it had a lot to do with my big baby bump, but the cream cotton maxi dress probably stood out, too. ;)

Just the other day, I was wearing a pair of long, wide-legged dark navy jeans (I am only 150cm with short legs too) and I paired them with my Sézane Louisah top in ecru. I love hats and wish I could incorporate them more in my daily outfits, but they are not allowed in the school I teach at. My female boss who is always criticizing what people wear, told me "Oh my God, you look like a super model!" I was wearing black high waist wide leg trousers, black heels and a very contouring long sleeved emerald green turtle neck top. I had a lot of compliments that day, which tells me emerald green is a good colour for me! 🙂

A woman complimented me on a shirt I wore a couple weeks ago. I don’t know her name or what she does in my building at work but I see her in the hall a few times a week & I always say hi. The top was stripes of blue, black and white with gold buttons and a front tie at the waist. She said she bought a similar top with a front tie and said she loved the look on me. ❤️

The summer I got my first boyfriend, my aunt had rented a pink and red satin wrap dress with large flowers on it. She got an extra in the mail and insisted I wear it out. I had just cut my hair that January so my short hair was free and curly, and my makeup matched my dress. I styled the dress with a white lace bra that peeked through the neckline, and fresh white sneakers (my first time trying that style!). I was going to meet my soon-to-be-then boyfriend and his best friend for hot dogs and bar hopping in the Melrose district of LA. Beforehand, I decided to go to a piano display store and check out this new brand of pianos I had my eye on. I felt so alive and confident. While I was walking to the store, two women said I looked beautiful! It completely made my day and solidified how at home I felt in my skin at the time. Such a treasured memory.
My compliment story is more about my dyed hair than my clothes but it ties into each other. When I get a compliment it's mostly because my hair is turquoise coloured and it gives me confidence when it is freshly recoloured. I tend to wear clothes then that compliment this confidence in style and colour and I think that's what stands out to people.
Your style of clothing is too feminine for me because I don't feel confident in feminine stuff. But I love watching your tipps and try to translate it into my more muted clothes.
They look nice. But I can't imagine me wearing those for summer here, we are over 30ºC degrees sometimes 45ºC and it's like I have to wear almost nothing. But I like your ideas.

I got an “Omg I love your outfit” compliment the first time we went out to eat at a restaurant since the start of the pandemic, which was in August 2021 (before things worsened again during fall and winter). I wore black velvet mules with metallic floral embroidery, black flutter sleeve tie front top tucked into button front black wide-leg high-rise ankle-length jeans, black vintage belt with silver hardware, onyx stone earrings, and silver studded black clutch with a bejeweled skull clasp. Funny how easy it is to remember an entire outfit when you get a compliment on it! 😅 It definitely made my day! 🥰

Dear Bethany! Glad to be home to catch this latest video! After your course last year I am enjoying my clothes so much more and even the process of caring for the items I have. I have received multiple compliments when I set my wardrobe for the week and take how I wear items seriously but with creativity! ohh, mine was rather recently (two days ago, actually); I wasn't really up to it, but I put on a black & white patterned midi (not silk) skirt, with a black t-shirt and my mules for church. Also, I didn't have any jewellery on, my hair was wrapped.
I leave home rather early, so no one really sees me, but on the way in my sister said "you look nice". I go "in this?", and she says "yes, you look weirdly good".

I was in london with my friends. We had been dancing at a pub and decided to go out for some air, we passed a couple making out heavily against a wall but didn't pay them much mind. While we were talking and laughing, the guy comes over to us: "excuse me, I saw you and just had to say-" at this point I thought oh no! he's going to hit on one of us! but he doesn't, "I LLOVE your trousers ! Theyre absolutely mint". I was wearing my favourite pin striped crimson trousers. He asked where they were from and I told him I thrifted them, he high-fived me and continued complimenting my trousers as he went back to making out with the girl. Absolute stellar interaction
I've noticed that she's never worn a blazer. All of her advices have really worked for me, but my new job requires me to wear a blazer almost every day. Any advices on length, fitting?
If you have a similar body type as me (petite in height, pear shaped and long torso), I tend to leans towards a cropped blazer. I would definitely invest in tailoring each blazer to the perfect fit if it's for your career. It will really help you stand out. 🤗
