Damn i feel bad for screw loose
Okay, when it got to explaining how she got her cutie mark, and what the other version of herself did, I got a sinking pit in my stomach.
I feel like this is a case of DID (Dissociative Identity Disorder). What the colts did to her damaged her psyche so much that she formed an alter who would take over in situations she couldn't handle, and then they started to cause harm to other ponies when she couldn't control her body. That would be a terrifying thing, especially to wake up without proper recollection, in front of a bloody corpse.
It makes sense though. Some alters can even cause the person harm, rather than help them, and often times people won't even be aware they're DID, they just think they're crazy, with gaps in their memory, and stuff like that.
I get chills listening to the 'sane' Screw loose.
(I feel bad not having a name for the possible alter...)

In the end it's all the same person, though, so....
@@babyblue_22 no not really. With DID, every alter is a completely different person with a different name, personality, ect. The alters share a body, but they are all different, fully formed people

I know in my universe, it's fun to be crazy sometimes...but for screw loose...I'm totally sure the crazy that she got isn't the fun kind of crazy...

This is the first of your dark fics that I've listened to, and I'm honestly impressed. I enjoy reading horror stories and the like, so I wasn't expecting this to 'wow' me. Then the creepy "la la" music started, and you didn't just read the character, you *acted* her out. As much as I enjoy reading and letting my imagination fill in the gaps, I have to admit that a proper performance is amazing. Thank you.

the story it self is sad. but i think scribbler caught the very being of both the sane and insane sides of screw loose
It was also really amazing how the listener (or at least I), went through 3 phases:
1. I thought Screw Loose was a basket case and a bit stupid (in short I didn't like her).
2. I realize that she's actually an alternate personality (like Gollum and Smeagol) so therefor I have more compassion for her.
3. The next time S.L appears, I realize it's a coping mechanism to deal with the abuse of her captors. Therefor it becomes much creepier the second time.
What is wrong with me? I am like addicted to MLP Dark Fics!

This fic reminded me a little of the movie 'The Brave One' in which Jodie Foster plays a woman who gets savagely beaten along with her husband (who dies in the hospital). She goes kind of crazy, and starts dealing out her own brand of justice to criminals. The line where it talked about 'waking up and finding dead ponies, and being covered in dried blood' unless I misunderstood it, seemed like a less well thought out version of that. It also makes me think of Lisbeth Salandar in some ways.
