    Thanks for your comment on my channel on my Hubsan X4 h107l night flight video. I like your modification and will definitely going to do it on mine. Great idea, though! . On mine I would leave the bottom side of the frame on. That part helps absorbs the force of an occasional crash preventing the arms from breaking. I had flown my quad really fast at night in from of my house and one day a neighbor told me that at first he thought it was a shooting star but when he saw it changing direction of travel he freaked out thinking he had an UFO sighting. HA HA HA...LOL...
    I'm going to work on my quad right now to do the lights mood, even though I think that the lights are going to be more vulnerable to breakage in the eventuality of a crash. Thanks for sharing my friend. Today is going to be a busy day for me. I'm going to do this mood on my Hubsan, then I need to figure how to set my new fatshark gear on my plane and on my Blade 350 QX quadcopter and test it. Can't wait to start flying fpv. Have a great day my friend. Thumbs up. Feel free to visit my channel anytime.

    This is a great mod. I just did it on my H107C HD. It took less than an hour total and it was definitely worth it. The wires on the two rear LED's were stretched to the max. I wondered for a minute or two if they were long enough. They were, but in that "you gotta want it bad" kind of way. But nothing broke or came unsolder-ed. First flight after the mod and this thing looks amazing, And I also instantly saw the LED's blink the moment the battery was low like I wished I could from the start. Thank you for posting this!!!

    Kid's reaction sounds about right.
    I'm going to have to do the LED mod and maybe find one of those little cameras.
    LED mod was as simple as gently pulling the LEDs out and re-positioning them.
    I didn't need to disassemble and the heat shrink on the back of the LED keeps it in place in that little slot.

    I tested the 380mah battery with my multi and found out that it even kept charging when it already was at 4.42V. This is probably also why my quad is so ridiculously more powerful with this battery, because the voltage goes pretty damn high. 4.2V is designed maximum for lipo batteries. I also was never able to fully charge my battery, even after 2.5 hours it just keeps charging. So guys never let your batteries charge alone, always watch them.

    Let me ask, how did you get it to spin with great throttle stability during flight, when I try to spin mine, its the same stick as the throttle and it always goes up or down with it, is there an easier control schematic or does mode 2 work better?

    This is a great mod, they really should come like this. My LED leads were a bit too short to do exactly as shown, so instead of looping the leads around, I ended up just flipping the LEDs and leaving the wires in the channels exactly as before. End result here: imgur.com/aLNjULV

    I sure have and it's the way to go, I will make a video soon to show my mods and the difference between the hubsan and WLtoys micro quads ie 2nd gen 252 and the new 242. With these boards and a Devo you can make the smoothest flying longest range micro quads out of all the Hubsan chassis's, I'm getting the FPV next cause now it will be awesome!! Just the BNF, I have the goggles, Devo and board to swap.

    thanks, great review. I finally got myself a H107L and think the amount of time the stock battery lasts is alright but the charging takes so long (up to an hour) so I guess I'm going to buy a bunch of 240mah stock batteries rather than the 380 ones, as they seem pretty big. I couldn't really see it in the video, does the 380mah battery bend out that thing which you have to pull down to pull the 240mah battery out? or does the battery fit behind it? and there really is a noticeable difference in handling of the quad between 240mah battery and 380? because apperently it only weights 3 gramms or so more

    • @BenjaminMois
      @BenjaminMois  10 років тому

      In all honesty, I think the 350mAh battery is the best for the x4. It's the perfect size, lasts longer than the 240 and just plain works well. :)

    • @xxBlackpspxx
      @xxBlackpspxx 10 років тому

      Benjamin Mois right, really no big difference in responsiveness, speed and such? because you said that even taking off the bottom does make a difference, and the bottom doesn't even weight that much.

    • @BenjaminMois
      @BenjaminMois  10 років тому

      I don't think it's really a problem at all, taking off any weight is a personal preference for me and I just like it because I can mount my small camera a bit better. :)

      I'm waiting for my Hubsan to arrive. I bought the blue 500mAh before i saw this video.. Not sure if the big batteries influence the flight characteristics.. If the flight time is increased and the battery sticking out is only cosmetic, then i guess it was a good choice to buy these. We'll see what happens..

    • @BenjaminMois
      @BenjaminMois  10 років тому

      MenskFCDH
      I have three of the 500mAh batteries and they are my favorite to fly because of the increased flight time. As I became better and better at flying my Hubsan, I found that now, there is no difference in flight characteristics and enjoy flying the bigger batteries the most. :)

    Is there space enough to fold the LED cable back the same way it came from? And maybe us a glue gun to make it stay in position. I love this mod, but hate that vunarble open cable. That's not clean to me. But maybe you need to solder it then? Or there is room for it. Can I take away the bottom half to if I need to solder? I don't screw up gyros or something. It's just a mainboard? Thank you so much!

      phreakii , I done this mode yesterday with Your suggestion. My upgraded x4 h107c with HD
      camera had shorter cables, not enough for loop around arm. So I just bended the cable and pushed LED to
      the hole and secured with little bit of glue. As You say, nice and clean, not
      exposed cables and same result as in video.
      Benjamin Mois , thanks a lot for this tutorial, You gave me courage to open my new x4 . I am beginner in quads and with this mod is flying easyier.

    I'd like to see a side-by-side comparison with and without this mod being done... at night.
    Though admittedly new to the hobby, I thought the LEDs on my 107D were pointing up, so you end up seeing MORE of the light, as it reflects off the translucent spinning props. It would at least be visible from a wider angle pointing up, no?
    Anyway, I really do like the look of this mod, but have no interest in downgrading night visibility to do so.
    Anyone wanna chime in?

    I like the LED idea, but wonder why you are attaching a camera to this quad. Hubsan uses larger motors on their camera quad to compensate for the extra weight, did you know that? One of them is the better choice for what you are trying to do here.

      @BenjaminMois  9 років тому

      Hey Mike, I think I was just doing a proof of concept with the camera. I don't need a small camera on this thing as I also fly a bigger copter with a Sony NEX-5R attached to it, lol, so this was just for fun. :)
