- Old Delhi, Delhi, India | 2022: This walk continues from where the previous video ended, somewhere in the narrow and mystical lanes of Dharampura in Shahjahanabad - also called as Chandni Chowk or Old Delhi. We continue ambling about in Dharampura finding historical havelis and the humans who live around them.
After walking by a few crumbling havelis we arrived at the now restored Haveli Dharampura which stands tall on a narrow lane in Dharampura. We are able to get a glance inside and look at the pretty reception area of the Haveli but an extensive tour was not quite allowed unfortunately. Slightly disappointed but immensely satisfied with the glimpses that we got of this place, we proceed ahead and find more intricately designed haveli entrances and balconies along our way into Kinari Bazar.
At Kinari Bazar we chance upon another beautiful and historical section that was especially quite and especially well maintained. This area was adjacent to a famous Jain temple in the area. The havelis here were small and probably were more like houses than havelis but they were still very pretty and nicely maintained, almost as if the gates of these havelis / houses were competing with each other.
Once we step out of this pretty area we walk a little further in Kinari Bazar and find a famous place for the rich and delicious Khurchan which is made from the scrapes of rich milk that sticks to the sides of the traditional utensil used to heat milk. Eating this yummy and rich and fatty dessert almost ends our day on a wonderful note. We soon walk out to the main road of Chandi Chowk, the road that stretches from Red Fort on the east till the Fatehpuri Masjid on the West. Our walk ends on this road right in front of the Sikh Gurudwara Sisganj.
if only the havelis were kept in their pristine forms, the beauty would have been beyond imagination.
Yes. Totally! These havelis are such gems :)
Oh, how I wish those havelis are maintained properly till today. They would have been amazingly vibrant and stunning! Thanks for taking us through these heritage spots. 😊🙌
Thanks for watching :)
I hope the government helps bring these havelis back to some of their old glory.
Such a beautiful video with beautiful havelis and a beautiful voice :)
Thank you :)
I am happy to know that you liked the havelis and liked my voice
I am craving for some khurchan 😍
Me too. I feel I somehow know that you have had less than your fair share of Khurchan in life. 😊 :P
@@awalkwithmeee i feel so too 🥺
Just a humble request...please visit Beriwala Bagh in old delhi and
show us the haveli where the serial HITLER DIDI was filmed. That haveli is gorgeous....would love to see it. You are doing a great job and I wish you all the very best
Thanks for the wonderful suggestion. I’ve made a note…will definitely try to include it in future walks.
And thanks your sweet compliment.
Glad you are liking my videos :)
I have a follow up question, if you can help. So…I am not able to immediately find Beriwala Bagh in Old Delhi. It shows up at other different locations on Google Maps.
Can you please give me an idea about where the Beriwala Bagh you are talking about is located?
It's at the Rani Jhansi Road Near Jungle wali Masjid and Nuruddin Park. Delhi 6. In fact there's a small gate with stairs in Nuruddin Park that leads to Beri Wala Bagh. Earlier there was an other entry too like big old arched gate with carvings to enter that area but I don't know whether it exists now or not I mean post Bridge construction n all :)
Got it. Thank you so much
@@awalkwithmeee You're welcome :)
